The connection between William Wallace and Kinclaven Castle in Perthshire runs deep. I tell the story of how William Wallace captured the Castle and put the English garrison to the sword before burning it to the ground. King Edward I also stayed the night at Kinclaven during the wars of independence between England and Scotland. He will be better known to you as Longshanks. The history of Kinclaven Castle is long and blood soaked, i hope you enjoy it.

I enjoyed this episode for very selfish reasons. I had the incredible privilege of living in Glasgow for three years married to my Scottish wife. Sadly when the marriage ended so did my visa. So I’m back in the States (home of The Orange Jackass). My heart will forever be in Bonnie Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️

Good morning. Thank you for your message buddy. It’s a shame your marriage ended and you had to leave Scotland, but I’m sure you have many great memories of your time here. Thats the amazing thing about memories, they last a lifetime, and no matter what life throws at you, nobody can take those away 🤙

Hi Morgs. If you’ve stayed at Meikleour then you’ll have walked through the Meikleour woods at some point? I’ve got a video on the Neolithic monument that runs right through those woods, might be your cup of tea. The castle is in a beautiful spot, just follow my vid and you’ll find it no bother. I’m going to check out your channel also, I see you and your partner are keen out doors enthusiasts, my kind of people 🤙

An honour to make the first comment on such a beautiful video. The music, the atmosphere, just perfect. And you are not the only one my friend. Stood watching here in Canada, looking out over the ocean as I cook with tears in my eyes during this video. I too feel just the same when I walk in such a special place. I miss them all very much on this side of the Atlantic but when I spent 6 months back in the UK this summer gone, I took my wife and 9 year old daughter to countless castles, abbeys and ruins and did just the same as you have in this video. I spoke to them of the history and what it means to me to walk in the same spots and be in the same rooms. Quite magical. Thank you for your channel.

Hello Chris, how are you my friend? Thank you for your kind words, you’re clearly a very pleasant and kindly gentleman, and with a positive attitude, these are personality traits I respect in a person. Your family must have enjoyed their adventure whilst in the UK, and with your half glass attitude and passion, I bet they loved you telling them about the history of these places. Your very welcome here Chris, you have a VIP membership 😀🤙

Great video and tour of such hallowed grounds. For sure the spirits of great warriors were amongst you. I just watched your video as it came up on youtube along with the genre of Celtic and Norse videos that I watch. I do enjoy the way that you speak and we share the same connections to the forest. Ive been in places while I served as a US Marine, where I felt these things. Old battle grounds where few fought many. I'd like to go to Scotland one day, God willing. I'll keep up with your channel, brother. Slainte! -Mike from New York

@@mikerosati7796 good morning Mike, how are you brother? Thank you for your message, very much appreciated. I can imagine as a man that’s been a Marine that you’re very connected to nature, and very acutely aware of the feel and atmosphere that such places reward you with , if only you will listen to what it’s trying to tell you. When I was standing in the Castle knowing some of its history, and that William Wallace had been there, In my minds eye, I can see him wandering the castle and contemplating his next move, magical stuff. I imagine New York is a touch on the cold side at this time of year, Scotlands in the same boat. I hope you make the trip here one day Mike, you won’t regret it 🤙

If you can, do Chillingham Castle, where thousands of Scots were captured and tortured. Legend has it that children captured were taken to the highest point of the Castle, and forced to watch their parents being burned at the stake. After which they were all slaughtered by axe to the head. This is of course lore, and there’s very little to verify what actually happened. But there is a tiny dungeon with an oubliette, where the bones of a 12 year old Scottish girl, believed to be called Eleanor. They made their own torture devices such as barrels, filled with spikes, in which the person would be placed and rolled down a hill. If you can get Neil, the tour guide, he’s so enigmatic and full of actual facts. It’s likely a bit of a drive, but most videos featuring Chillingham get a lot of views. Edit: the most thought provoking thing Neil (tour guide) has said, is if you wear a cross, without the body of Jesus on it, all you’re wearing is a weapon of torture. That gave me chills.
