Thank you for this! I just ordered a SpeedyBee F405 Wing to use with INAV 7 and a stupid foamboard delta wing I made a few years ago. Just want to get something flying!

Great video, just my opinion I've done the same thing learning LOS. ,But I put a simple gps just for rth for when a beginner looses his orientation. Rth and your back in business. Just a thought. Save my butt , before I actually lost a plane funjet ultra. Lol

Great idea. I had a 2.4m glider running inav without a VTX, but with a GPS for loiter mode. Came in really handy when your neck got sore, and could even fly IFR with the glass cockpit LUA!

I have done this, and also on FPV cam equipped planes I fly the plane up to Loiter by line of sight first, then get comfortable on my chair for a flight. When you launch LOS, using Loiter/Launch mode, if the aircraft is not quite going the direction you wanted (this happens a lot), you can just nudge the Ail stick to steer it up to Loiter area, avoiding trees etc. With Elrs or Crosfire feed back to your transmitter, basically you've got all your info on the screen anyway, for LOS flights. I'm about to do it with an old glider to try Ardupilots SOAR/THERMAL mode, looking forward to seeing how well it works.

Autonomous thermalling would be fun to play with, but could be a great way to lose your glider.

Nice to see the AlbaBird in the air. As always, great tips. This also good setup for beginner if model setup has been validated by a more experienced pilot. Regarding INAV training aids; it would be possible to setup a "Altitude Activated Safe Switch" just in INAV mix similar to what was done on FrSky radio in a previous video (Nov 2022). Can add an "Altitude trigger" in Programming logic, using "Flight" parameter logic (for minimum altitude) to enable Angle Mode stabilization in the Mixer tab.: This would allow flying manual mode with an auto safe-flight recovery. Would also be useful when learning aerobatics, or developing other advanced skills.

Nce, i have been doing this with my ARpro wing with Inav, it does have fpv and GPS fitted but i hate FPV so just fly it LOS, and it flies just nice, only fitted it for Autolaunch and that makes it a doddle to launch

RACERSTAR 405 mini? That may be that may be the last one in circulation, I feel like everyone who had one watched it catch on fire at some point LOL. I have a couple of rigs with INAV and fly LOS, I use them like a kopilot because they have GPS in case it were to get away from me (not really an issue any more, but for a new flyer loss of orientation is a real problem), plus you get the telemetry back with the GPS coordinates on the radio.

@@AndrewNewton I bought one after I watched you put on in a Talon I believe. I was looking for something for the Drift (back when it was hard to get F411's). I had some question so reached out to the FB INAV Fixed wing group and got dumped on about the board. So about three weeks later, I had the build sitting on the bench, and it died. I think the 5V regulator went out. I just kind of laughed at myself over that one. If you're in this hobby, burning money is something one has to get comfortable with lol. Anyway.......love the simplicity of your videos.

Hi Andrew. More questions sorry. I’m trying to set up my Spektrum ix20 with inav using a Crossfire tx lite on my Spektrum tx. Searching many times for a video. My problem is I have assigned many switches in my transmitter and they move on the output screen but inav won’t respond to the movements. I’ve got arm sorted and three way for angle horizon and manual but no more switches recognised as I want loiter. Hope this makes sense Mark

The FrSky X6R has stabilisation built in.( not that my one did that well)....but you wanted the additional RTH of Inav...🤔

Yes true,and thx.tbh...I have tried S6R,s/Kopliot Lites,...they're crap, unreliable or hard to set up....compared to a decent( INAV,D) F.C. imo

@@chrissofpv3017 The S6Rs are very popular in our club...I've set no end up for others. It's pretty easy using Edge and a TX16S.....🤔😏🇬🇧

@@EnglishTurbines ...oh fair play...I used the lua on my old X9D and Open Tx,...both used to lock the ailerons in a roll(with no warning) even tho I high 5,D everything and checked stabilized mode was working properly.Kinda made me distrust them. When I get back to the UK,I'll dig em out again,and retry calibration on my TX16S and with Edge too👍🙏🍻

@@chrissofpv3017 Sounds like your using 3D mode....Simple mode is best, Giro rate mode / Manual Mode / Self levelling Mode. Not certain but I think channel 12 (the calibration switch) will double up and give access to 3D mode for hovering and knife edge manoeuvres, another 3 modes...You have to read the manual carefully to understand it as I recall...🤔😳😳 So where you leave ch12 switch parked matters!!!
