One interesting use of religious incense burning I've learned of was when I visited the historical Brazilian city of Ouro Preto. Apparently the standard practice for burying bodies was the bury them under the church's floorboards, which were wooden and not sealed at all, which meant that after a burial (which, considering the city had a population of over 70000 at the time this practice was in place, was frequent) the stench of decaying corpse was almost unbearable, So the constant incense burning during mass was an absolute necessity so that people wouldn't get sick from the dead body fumes.
Such an underrated channel, cool interesting topics with lots of information in short concise videos... really glad the whale video "blew up" in popularity recently... can't wait to see it grow into the millions
Regarding the last part where talks about cancer, the study that "proof" this, was from a cigarret company trying to link insense to lung cancer and saying was worse than cigarrets, even tought it dont really show that much of an incress in cancerigiens. But aparently theres a correlation between use of insense and cigarret addiction. And still, is mosth recomended put insense in ventilated areas and not do it if you have Ashtma. (Sorry for the bad english, isnt my native launght)
Non direct ignition with suitable quality products carries almost none of the same issues as say thai sprayed compounds or direct burn incense sticks, This is why frankincense can be medical grade
