i watched Formula 1 since i was 4 years old. because i'm so obsessed with it, my parents sent me to go kart class. i was a champion in my country for few times and even went to US once for the race. This death actually makes me don't want to pursue my dream anymore. and i was still playing go kart professionally and even became a coach for student go karting class for years. and then Hubert's death hit me. I'm abruptly stopped doing this anymore. i didn't even play it anymore. it's just a go-kart you may say but watching your idols passed away doing their passions makes me want to just stay safe. RIP to all
I can't believe this was the Suzuka circuit. And the same thing almost happened again... It's not who's fault, but if you don't learn the lesson and the procedure, the regret will continue to affect.
This angle doesn’t make it too obvious, but the green flag was beyond the incident scene, so was within the rules of the time and was correctly displayed.
The reason why the marshall was waving the green flag was that a green flag signals that the next part of the track (until the next flag post) is clear. Same procedure as now, but it's harder to notice because they always remove a stricken car under SC or VSC now.
Why does Suzuka have a long history of bringing tractors trackside of the barrier during races. They have been doing it for decades and do seem to have learnt at all from many near misses, serious accidents and a fatality.
RIP JB17 ❤
So many events coming together with a terrible result as outcome… rain, red flag, Sutil crash, if the recovery vehical was only 1 or 2 meters further back nothing would have happened to Jules. If he crashed only a few seconds earlier he would be still with us. So much bad luck I can’t believe it 😢
I was also directed here after Gasly's comments on Suzuka 2022. After 8 years, this is the first time I got to see Jule's accident. Terrible. Is this the only footage?
There were several video clips of it. You cab find several different angles if you search hard enough, but many have never been released to the public.
its crazy how fate aligned to orchestrate such a terrifying incident....just imagine if that recovery vehicle stayed 10 secs more to where they were fastening sutil's car to lift. only if that thing took 10- sec more Jules would have missed the tractor by a foot or two and instead would have been in the tyre barrier much much more survivable than what actually ensued.....if only !!!!!! RIP Jules
Different case. Gasly speeded right in front a double yellow with the SC out. Definitely his own fault. Flags are there for a reason, to comunicate with the pilots. Ignoring them is one of the biggest rules breach in every motorsport.
@@oliviero46 he was in the back of the grid after he pitted for a new wing, he needed to cath the grid so he was allowed to drive faster than needed. But just after he got to that portion of the track the red flag was brought and cauth him off guard. But this still doesn't excuses FIA for bringing out that truck, they coul have waited untill every car was in the pits or after they passed the crash on their way to the pits. In those conditions even if the driver drives slower he could have spun out of control and end up right in the back of that truck
Brutta brutta storia
This is totally different from Pierre's near-miss incident. The tractor is not even on the racing track! Every driver says we should have learned from this mistake but it's completely different scenarios!
Wrong, the tractor may not be inside the track, but it's in the FIA code that the cars should all be in the pits before any recovery vehicles gets inside the track, which means the same mistake was done twice, also the dumbest and most outrageous mistake ever in F1.
@@InsertYourself1 Yeah, I remember that one of the marshalls almost got hit. Like complete disregard for their and drivers safety when Americans came along.
They were waving green flags when the recovery vehicle is still on the side of the track... very very bad call... the impact was so great the Marussia managed to move a 10-ton tractor off its feet...
He was speeding. But that was also because there were only double yellows. The race was still ongoing, and as any other driver would have, Jules tried to lose as little time as possible through the yellow sector.
what bug me is if tractor has not yet leave the circuit completely why are they waving green flag already? Also the waver clearly see an accident happened right below him why is he continuously waving green flag?
the flag doesnt do anything at the very spot its waved. the guy waving yellow flag needs to be some hundred yards away at an earlier part of the track. you cant hit the tracktor if you start to drive normal speed at where the tractor is. i understand the drivers want to drive as fast as possible at all times and to prevent that everything needs to be technically restricted but from race spectacle point that is so dumb. result is that now we get red flags whenever theres any debris over the size of front wing on track, completely eliminating all the nuances that happened before whether its track positions or tyre choices.
It's how flags work in F1. The Marshal waved the green flag for the next sector so the sector that had the recovery vehicle was still double yellow flagged, but the green flag applied to the next sector instead.
