I think Sgt. Gorton of the Multnomah County Corrections facility has to be one of the best officers I've ever seen. She really does treat each arrestee like they're a human being who matters, regardless of why they're there or if they're intoxicated or what have you. She's like a really good mother in that she is kind and compassionate but she takes NO guff from anyone at all. If you give her your worst, she'll give it right back to you but if you try to be a human that wasn't raised by wolves, she's a real sweetheart back to you. I have never seen her mock or laugh at an arrestee to their face when that arrestee didn't laugh along with her. Also, daaaaaamn, that was one athletic counter leap by the officer at 23:29. Full gear and all, too. I also think that when someone is yelling "I didn't do nothing" or "I haven't done anything wrong", the odds are that they DID do something and they did something wrong. LOL If you've truly done nothing wrong, that will usually be ascertained pretty quickly and you'll get let go.

Both of my parents were falling down drunks who drank, fought and passed out every evening. As a child, you get used to it to the point that living with that insanity seems almost normal. But it takes a toll. Once I turned 18, I moved out because I couldn't bear either of them any more. And I didn't speak to them for many years. Both ended up dying young from illnesses related to their drinking.

Because they’re drunk or high or both. They have no idea how they’re acting since they’re under the influence. If you see them later in some of these videos and they sobered up, they’re calm and quiet and some of the cops at these places ask the people they had to handle them, if they remember anything and most of them say no. Some even apologize for their behavior. These police officers have to hear it all aimed at them, they can’t take it personally. They’re awesome for being so patient but knowing when to take down someone when they’re acting out of line. It is too bad when these people who get arrested and go in for booking, are so angry and say vile things to the cops. Too bad they can’t get charged for being disrespectful and having a potty mouth! Lol

And the cycle will just repeat itself for the kids and their kids. Awful to think of everyone who will come in contact with these people, their mindset, lifestyle, etc. Hopefully, things change and their kids, friends, neighbors all learn that a life of crime and addiction is not the answer.

I think the cops could have done a lot better of calming people down. Instead of de- escalating the situation like they should be doing it's almost like they're egging them on. The reason the first girl was acting like that turned out because she had recently had a seizure. Right after you have a seizure you have no idea what's going on and I know from personal experience that a lot of times you can do and say some really mean stuff. She sued the police department and the arresting officers and won her case. The case was settled for over two million.

Absolutely. One of my old friends had grand mal seizures and not remember anything that happened, up to a half hour before she seized. I can't imagine how she would have acted in a situation like that.

Rented to a criminal unknowingly. He was just a drug guy and pretty decent but sure knew the law big time. So his son comes and squats with him and his gf. Anyway. I had call the sherif on the boy because I wanted him gone and he was beating his gf. He yelled he’d hurt my animals if I called. Ai he got arrested and ended up in prison being caught out as the one who put his baby in the hospital. Biggest mistake of my life trying to help out some guy and get help on my mini ranch. Wrecked the studio. Had to officially evict. Lost some valuables due to thieving son. I was in tears a lot. Alone and trying to figure out how to get rid of them. My ex bf said he would have ended up in jail. The sherif didn’t treat me appropriately as if I was a problem. The judge was rude as get out about the eviction. I just took it in stride because those people have their experiences and just didn’t know me. How could they? Be careful if you try to help someone hoping for some help yourself. The world is not equitable like that anymore. Since WW2 and men of honor things have turned for the worse. It was all an illusion. Well. Not my dad. He was truly ethical and charitable very good WW2 vet and Korean War. Im totally anti war but my dad was a good man. One marriage and never again. Men aren’t real men anymore.

I thank god that while i was an addict i never went to jail, i didnt steal or rob for my high, i always took care of my daughter and when the people around me told me i need help i got help. I have been clean for 5+ years and will never go back, this shows me just how lucky i am

I was a teacher / college coordinator in a prison for one year. All three of us teachers quit within two months of each other, but it was not because of teaching prisoners. It was because our principal was not supportive and hateful! We had one of the best succesful rates in the state. I was a high school teacher and principal for 23 years before teaching in prison. However, the principal at the prison treated us like prisoners.
