INCOM's U-Wing is the Elite Transport the Rebel Alliance Needed - College of Lore 

Since there is minimal change in weapons and armor capabilities between the Galactic Civil War and Mandalorian time periods, the U-Wing would still be combat capable. So they would likely focus on engine efficiency and to try and extend the ships hyperspace range. Additionally they might restructure the ship to undergo a mild size increase thus increasing the carrying capacity. They would also likely add an on board astromech, which would go a long way in improving the craft. Failing that they could always bolt some rocket pods on it. But this is just my immediate reaction upon reading this comment and hardly a fully developed essay. I would certainly be interested to hear other ideas on the subject!

@@DevotedBard you have opened the flood gates. I have been thinking about this for over a year. Since I would not want to change the U-wing's footprint in a hanger I would only lengthen the main body not the S-foils. A outside company would have invented a living pod that could control gravity within the pod. I do not have the math skills but 4 pods. Two on each side. The cockpit would seat above the central area. The pods down would be the same as the central area when a person enters. Once the close the door and change down to the outer bulkhead they can lay on a bed that is the full "height" of the pod. Going back to the exterior. A dorsal twin laser turret would be placed in-between the engines. If the T-70 and T-80 X-wing engines can be slip and still work. Then an updated version of K-88 "Event Horizon" sub light engine could be designed with a split to allow S-foils to pivot within the engine body. The engine would not open it just would allow the S-foils to pivot. Going back to the interior. For missions that require more firepower the pods can be collapsed to load more missiles. Or be removed to allow the maximum amount that would fit within the body of the new U-wing. Since the main body of the U-wing was made longer a pod could be installed for an engineer. To really retain the same hanger footprint. The S-foil could fold and be moveable both up and down depending on the situation. The main body would be wider to make sure there is proper airlocks on both sides. Along with the side mounted blaster. So the updated U-wng will have a crew of 5. Pilot and copilot. 2 gunners. A engineer. Astromech could have a mount that would only be visible when the turret is active. My math skills are terrible. Could you help with the numbers, please?

@@damongraham1398 I think you presented this concept quite well. I like the consideration you had for strike teams to use the Uwing as an environment for living while on mission. Solidifies the Uwing as a fantastic infiltration vessel for operatives.

@@DevotedBard I also like the idea of the updated U-wing being used by Marshals and Rangers for long term use. A long term crew of 5. A ground assault team max of around 10 to 15 with the pods removed. A missile bomber configuration would also have the pods removed. Crewed only by the 5 member crew.
