This video makes me nostalgic for my dad's final Corvette, a 1990 convertible. We took a great road trip to a big Corvette show in Effingham, IL. I'd give anything for one more drive with him.
Very nice C4. I had an '87 automatic coupe that I daily drove (year-round) in the Detroit area for 20+ years (yes, even through the snow - it was my only car and the boss wouldn't accept "I can't drive my Vette in the snow" as an excuse). I always thought that dash was like something out of a spaceship. It handled like a dream - I wouldn't discount it being a fun track car (I did not have a chance to track mine). One of the few cars I've ever seen that had a cinch lock for the seat belts so you could lock them in case you were on the track (those HOLD buttons). While the HP number doesn't sound high, it moves that car pretty well. With only 23k miles this cars has a lot of life left in it.
Loved the 84 C4 I once owned. I've also owned 2 C3s, a C5, and now own a C6. Bob, if you get in a clean 89 Riviera let me know (want to add one to my small collection). I'm in NC.
A C4 Corvette with a four-speed automatic is one of my least favorite sports cars in the world, whereas a C4 Corvette with a manual transmission is one of my favorite sports cars in the world. That being said, this one is in beautiful condition, and Bob really does have a gift for finding amazing cars.
Until 1989 models which got the six speed, the 1984 through 1988 manual cars got the clunky 4+3 Doug Nash five speed which utilized CAGS (Computer Aided Gear selection) forcing a shift to third gear from 1st except during WOT, a clumsy way of saving gas and sparing the car from the gas guzzler tax. So unless you're willing to pony up for an 89 manual model or budget for a manual transmission conversion to a six speed, an automatic 84 to 88 is the next best thing.
@@houseofno The skip-shift feature can be defeated with a 20 dollar part. Any manual is better than a 4-speed auto, which is useless on a road course or mountain road, and is only good for suburban stoplight races from the Walmart to the Bed Bath and Beyond.

Among the first of its kind with respect to electronically controlled automatic transmissions. 296 horsepower, 326 pound feet of torque, zero to 60 times of 7 5 seconds per Car & Driver magazine with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (that means an unregulated top speed of around 170 in completely stock form The facts of automatics outshifting hamhanded manual transmissions are laughing at your outdated mindset See you in the rearview mirror caveman.
