What a wonderful episode. You captured this area perfectly! Great photography and editing!!! Like you, this is one of our favorite state parks (right up there with Four Mile Island SP in New York near Niagara Falls; and Custer State Park in South Dakota). We camped for two weeks in Valley of Fire, and one week up at Poverty Flats just outside of the park. We hiked everyday. So glad that you were able to see the Big Horn Sheep.

If your still in the area, go back down the road in Boulder City headed to Lake Mead. Just to the left is Hemenway Park. The big horn sheep go there almost daily to feed. You'll love it.

Our favorite trail was the white dome trail followed by the fire wave trail. And fire canyon road! If you do these trails You will not be impressed with rainbow vista trail which I thought had very little color compared to the other trails. ENJOY!!! I hope you get to see my bighorn sheep! Not sure if there was electric in Arch Rock campground but it was by far the prettiest campground in our opinion, however, Atlatl rock campground had the showers and electric. Let us know how it goes! ….. Carrie

Wow, those red rocks are amazing. Love the little stone huts. Always a strange feeling paying for camping once you have systems and a comfort level to camp remote. Clearly this site was well worth every $. Crazy to see how empty it was, then again we like it that way. 🙂 We love that you share all these cool sites. Thank you! I think we said Salt mine road when the road is actually Sand Mine road for the free camping locations. Also, known as “Poverty Flats” Yes, the campground was were every penny! We also hate to pay when most the best places to stay are free. 😂

We get all excited when we see water, trash, and picnic tables! 😂 If you camp there try to get a spot on the weekdays and arrive between 9 and 10 am for the most available campsites.

If you loved Valley of Fire in February, you will love it more in mid April when the area is in full bloom, just beautiful. Also in April 2020 we stayed in the exact spot overlooking Lake Mead, unique fire pit, compared our pictures to your video, we were parked about 10 feet forward of where you were. Great spot.

Loved my times to Valley of Fire SP and Snowbird Mesa AKA Poverty Flats have loved camping there even though it can get very windy and exploring the SP is great and never gets old. Rocks don't bother Harry just amps him up.

I stayed at Sand Mine road campsite. Tried to camp in the park but it was full. Love your pics. I had the same experience with a new tire, small nail and also a loose valve stem. Still having a problem with it, grrrr.

I’ve been to VOF a few times I’ve been to a Star Trek filming site in the park. Very interesting.

Mother Nature decided to go off of her bipolar medicine as its 29 degrees F at 1000 in South Carolina in mid March. It got down to 13 degrees last night with 30 mph winds and most likely killed all the new peach buds, we'll have to see about that. The blooming daffodils and cherry trees are wilted....so if you're planning Peach Cobbler for Thanksgiving this year, start saving for that now......Ya'll stay warm and safe wherever you are!!!

Shhhh! I'm with Dave, State Parks over National Parks! I grew up in Las Vegas and Valley of Fire has always been a hidden treasure! But Just like Joshua Tree, it is wonderful as a state park but when they make it a national park it is the "kiss of death", over-crowded and commercialized with a total loss of intimacy!

wow there are some beautiful views there, such cool rock formations... but wow it seems VERY windy where you had the flat tire... I do have a question... while camping out there in the desert do you see alot of spiders or scorpions? (I HATE SPIDERS) thank you for the video... safe travels friends from South Dakota

We have yet to see any scorpion 🦂 or noteworthy spiders 🕷️. I will admit I will not be flipping over any rocks to look for them 😂 Before vanlife we did find a scorpion in out tent one time!

Not a one! It was pretty cool while we were there so maybe they were moving slow. We hear there are Coachwhips, Speckled Rattlesnakes, and Sidewinders in this Park.

Seeing that you were in Nevada in late Feb makes me wonder if you were keeping in touch with Dawn from The Dawn of Vanlife. She had gone through Nevada and Las Vegas when she left Quartzsite AZ, on her way back to the Bay area of CA. I wonder if she was still in that area of Nevada when you were there. Did you happen to meet up with her on her way through that area?

@@oneadVANtureatatime On her Live Stream yesterday she says she's in Ashland Oregon now, for the Next 6-7 months. She got a temp job up there. That's where was headed when she left your area, went back to CA for few days and then high tailed it up north to Oregon. So I guess you just missed her. BTW she has since pained her box truck grey. It looks a tad different now!

Yes it is! It’s 10 dollars a night plus 15 dollars for the day fee if your from out of state.

We have a T Mobile hot spot and a Verizon phone plan. Most of the time Verizon wins. The T Mobile hotspot has been working good to upload our videos so we can't complain too much.

What was the area called with water hookups and covered picnic tables among rock formations where I think you paid to stay?

Yes, that was the pay campground called Arches. It was 10 dollars a night plus the day-use fee. Try to get a spot during the week and around 10 am if you can. It fills up quickly. The campground next to this one has showers and even electrical hookups for 10 dollars more a night. 😎

I agree with paying for campground for convenience. I like to do it every few days it pays for itself if it has water, electric, and sewer. I will stay at this state park when I go out there. Can u tell us how much the park cost?

Samantha, we were there for two weeks in Dec. 2021(and loved every second of it). The camp host suggested that we get an annual pass. By doing so we saved around $100 on this visit…plus we still have nearly a year remaining on our pass. It is soooo worth it. Even if you boondock outside of the park. You can jump in and empty trash and tanks, plus fill up your fresh water tank then head back out again to your boondocking site.

It looks like the annual pass is 100 dollars for the year. Otherwise it's 15 dollars for out-of-state people per day.

I have found many pieces of petrified wood over the years but never thought about petrified bone! Now I will have to research that! 😀 I want to know what to look for.

THE NICKNAME FOR SNOWBIRD IS "POVERTY FLATS". THE TRICK TO GETTING A SITE IN VOF SP. IS TO ARRIVE IN THE MORNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. WE'VE STAYED IN THE PARK A HANDFUL OF TIMES AND THE MIDWEEK AM ARRIVAL STRATEGY WORKED OUT FOR US
