The Day I Called it Off: Out-of-Control Spooked Horse Emergency 🆘 #emergency #horseguardsparade #kingsguard #londonwalk #royalguards #londonwalkbyukride100k #guards
just as a matter of interest , How many ppl think there should be at least a 6ft exclusion zone around those horses, NOBODY should be allowed to touch them.?
I agree totally and was just going to say that. To me it looked like the bit was bothering him and he was really uncomfortable. Credit to the guardsman.
I think it should be the same rule for the horses as with guide dogs that you never touch or distract them when in harness as they are WORKING. I personally thought it was in bad taste to follow the horse with cameras even after the gate had been shut! Well done to all who do such a splendid job in protecting King and country 😊
Yes that is definitely a good point. Horses that work should be treated the same. They must find a good balance between protection, on duty and service/ tourism. I am sure with all the clever advisors in service they can come up with a workable solution. These guys can wip up beautiful well organised parades in no time sure they can come up with something.
Exactly and Amen! They don’t realize it’s a real King like Henry VIII. A real castle or palace. Real guard with military experience in warfare, Very sharp swords. The rifles are loaded with razor sharp bayonets.
They don't know that. Most people know next to nothing about the dogs and cats they own; they can't be expected to know anything about an animal they only see pictures of.
if these horses and King's guards were not so well trained, a 1,600 to 1,800 pound agitated military horse charging/moving toward these idiot tourists would make them move back quickly!
That's their job. I wouldn't call it an "unforgettable act of heroism." Kind of an insult to those whose lives are truly on the line. This job is just window dressing for tourism.
Any form of barrier would be potentially dangerous to horse and Trooper if the horse became unsettled and ran forward . It's also a public footpath in Whitehall under control of Westminster council not MOD so again not workable .
Visitors and tourists show such ignorance around horses that I don't think they should be allowed so close. That 6ft exclusion zone as mentioned in the comment below would be a good and sensible idea.
@@terryrussel3369 Oh yea. Horses and mules can reach a LONG ways with hooves or teeth as I found out to my cost occasionally when they were having bad days. It is a credit to the training of the King's Guard riders and the horses that more of them are not having such episodes.
@@dawnyoung9231 No one sane does that to a sentry in modern uniform with modern weapons, but the historical outfit and weapon makes it okay? If anything? The horse and riders are FAR too nice!
Poor fella. He was clearly agitated from the onset. I hope he’s feeling a little better in himself, as he clearly didn’t want to horse. Good call to return him to the stable, away from all the hustle and bustle
To those complaining of the rider not controlling the horse better, I would like to see you ride with 1 hand!! It is MUCH much harder than it looks to control a horse this way!!! Those riders are talented!!
One hand AND holding a sword with the other hand. I'm sure they go through required training. Any person who touches the reigns, who is not one of the King's guards or a Royal guard, needs to be arrested!
if these horses and King's guards were not so well trained, a 1,600 to 1,800 pound agitated military horse charging/moving toward these idiot tourists would make them move back quickly!
One kick from one of those horses and those that get kicked are heading to the ER. People just think they are there for entertainment. Imagine being one of those horses, standing there day after day and people putting their hands and fingers in your face. I agree with the 6 ft zone.
Animals are sensitive creatures. This poor horse was highly agitated, yet people didn’t “get“ the message. Well handled situation, grateful for the Sgt’s intervention. Best wishes from Adelaide; South Australia🇦🇺💐
My mum was a born and bred Adelaide Hills girl...love South Australia 🇦🇺...agree with your comment from Perth 💯 %...I'd like to throttle some of these tourists I swear
I hate that behavior of brithish royalty ...of course all those tourists are the gold mine. But Not even in a third world country have i seen so much lack of disrespect.shame on you people and royalties. 🦁
did you ever have one of those days when people aRe just on your as nerve? Sometimes when an animal Or child says no we just need to listen . for the horses sake i wish they had given in sooner, but i thought it was funny that as soon as the horse was being led away from people he calmed behavior is communication
Tourists need to learn to keep their distance away from this gorgeous beauty space and the guard. Poor horse feeling spooked with all the loud noises he has feelings of his own it would drive me round the bend with all that noise of people. He wants some peace the soldier helping to calm him down walking beauty away out of tourists way. Hope he feels better and calm soon.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE POOR HORSE !!! HE WILL TELL YOU A LOT JUST BY HIS ACTIONS BEFORE EVER GOING OUT ON POST. HE OBVIOUSLY WAS NOT UP FOR ANOTHER DAY OF ANXIETY AND STRESS.
Poor horse he gave early indications of a deep anxiety but no one kept away, I did feel sorry for the guard as well. What happens when a horse has to be taken in? All that noise after being away would send me nuts too. Well done to the police man as well. I hope the horse will feel better soon. Welcome back to the Blues and Royals you were missed and thanks to the Royal Artillery for their work while you were away. The noise is too much form me I have my laptop volume right down
@claudiajohnson4926 No bears were killed to top the Lifeguards ceremonial headgear. That's horsehair. As to the bearskin headgear- the skins come from specifically culled bears. The headgear is reused time and time again, going from one guardsman to another.
It literally boggles my mind how people can see a horse who is having frustration issues and coming right at them and they just freakin' stand there. It's almost if they've lost their preservation instincts. You shouldn't need to be told that an unhappy horse can be dangerous and you're NOT helping by standing in the way. I actually heard a woman say, "...and actually, I think we're not helping," you got that right!
After watching dozens of these videos, I believe the public should not be allowed to even touch the horses. Take your picture, keep your hands off. I am disgusted at the rudeness, insensitivity and ignorance that these people have for both horses and guards. They should respect the guards and horses as working part of the military.
I have had over 40 Horses in the last 40 years and even the calmest Horse can act up when they are stressed. These Horses are always surrounded by Humans they can get stressed by constant noise and strange people. Even the calmest of them can at times act up. Most of the people who came there to see them have no idea how any Horse would act when constantly being surrounded by Humans and noise. People should be aware of the fact these Horses have no idea who or what is reaching out for them. Most will accept almost anything but as I said there comes a time any Horse will act up. Even though people think these Horses should be calm and relaxed they, just like Humans can have off days. It’s always better to mind the rules and not touch or bother a Horse during this time because you never know when a big Animal will act up and hurt someone. Perhaps there should be a HUGE sign that says “ do not touch the Horse or its rider!” Unfortunately common sense doesn’t seem to work with a lot of people and they end up being hurt because of their stupidity.
This horse may have had to urinate or possibly defecate which many will not do in a confined "work" location. Also may need to drink water or having discomfort from gas build up in his GI tract due to standing still for long period or legs / back pain from heavy rider plus regalia plus heavy tack ( saddle) on hard pavement. MAKING HORSES STAND THERE FOR LONG PERIODS IS RIDICULOUS AND CRUEL AND OBVIOUSLY THE GUARDSMEN AND RIDER ( who was placing his heel up instead of down and behind the girth causing the horse to circle .Neither man seemed to know equine behaviour and DID NOT KNOW HOW TO TREAT A HORSE IN THIS STATE OF ANXIETY. THIS SHOULD BE DISCONTINUED DUE TO LACK OF ANIMAL WELFARE .
Women get your kids to safety . All the idiots just stand there with their phones getting video's of them possibly getting tramped. Not to smart. Poor horse is upset .Thank Goodness they brought him in.
Thank you for listening to the horse. He/she was not ok with being in that space. It wanted to face it and to keep the crowd away with its butt to the crowd. There is always a reason.
The care and concern for the horse was plain to see- the guards plainly look after them superbly. I hope he calmed down soon- maybe he just needed a break!
Beautiful horse!! And there really wasn't anything wrong with him other than he Didn't like the dude that was standing next to him at the start of the video. His laid back ears, taking his head and butting the guy out of the way and then keeping his eyes on him after he did finally move were all clear signs the horse was not getting good vibes from the guy. Seen it to many times with my grandpa horses!
Poveri cavalli sono molti belli ma devono state sempre disciplinati sempre fermi e tante persona a fare foto e fare carezze a me mi dispiace vere de tutte quelle ore fermi grazie per il video ♥️💙🌹🌹🥰👋
Arnie must have told all the horses to go on strike just like many other government employees are doing at the moment! They want more oats and longer holidays.
@GMN360 😂😂😂😂😂 Thank heavens for Arnie. I can just picture him at the stables teaching new horse recruits how to handle bad behaviour from tourists. Hope he also shows some of his counter attack moves too.😂😂 Oh what bliss to watch Arnie's Army in full attack mode scaring the life out of disrespectful tourists 🏃🏃🏃🏃🐎🐎🐎🐎 😂😂😂
I lived in the UK for 6 years and traveled extensively. The rule of thumb always was that as a visitor or tourist you never approach or touched an animal in military or law enforcement service. I have many wonderful photos with friends where we're posed quite aways (10 ft or so) on front of ceremonial mounted guards etc. It is unacceptable to me that these people have no concept of space or respect for the animal and the service member.
I find it utterly ridiculous that people have to be told to move back from a horse that is having an issue !! There should be a 6ft. rule…pure plain and simple. I have lost so much faith in humanity 🤦♀️
As someone who knows nothing about horses or the King's gaurds I really would like to see them treated the way guide dogs are. While they are working they are not to be touched. To many people to close 😢.
Its such a shame, you can fully understand the poor animals distress at so much noise and touching.... it must be so unsettling for them. I agree with a comment below that the public should not be allowed to touch them and there should be a seclusion zone around them at all times......
i like this guard...he is usually good about not letting people getting too crowded round his horse....horses have off days just like us humans...! Only thing i wish he done differently was keep his legs down off / away from the horses sides...it's giving him mixed messages so he don't know what to do....legs on the side mean go forward but at the sane time your yanking the reins telling him to stop....i see it a lot with some of them... x
@@estrella7081 I think given the lack of respect, understanding and cluelessness… Plus downright stupidity around a living animal working hard too… There should now be instant fines paid on the spot to the Lifeguards fund. Irrespective of currency!
This young man stayed cool and calm whilst dealing with this unsettled horse, as did the guard aboard this mount, kindness and professionalism showed throughout, tourists should realise that this kind of mobbing of these serving guards and horses can cause problems !! If they can't show respect they should be told to leave the area, it's not a petting zoo for God's sake, and they are not stage props !!!
It never ceases to amaze me just how self-centred some people can be!! Those horses are not their just to be looked at, they are there as working horses on guard duty!! I think there should be an ‘exclusion zone’ around the guard stations.
The horses are selected specifically for their safety, placivity and non-reactivity - at all times - in the public. The horse needed to be kept safe so that he wasn't removed from service as he may have been. Beautiful horse, the situation was very well managed.
The poor horse was clearly uncomfortable with all of the pressure that came from being surrounded by people along with dealing with the uncomfortable bit in their mouth (those things infect pain on horses to make them comply with their riders). I think anyone who is going to be dealing with horses needs to learn how to read their body language before riding them in public places. I am just glad that nobody was hurt in that situation.
I can choose to go away when I have had enough of people. And that is quite often. But that horse can't. I am glad to see that they didn't force the horse to stay, but let him go to the stable.
These people need to muck out stalls and paddocks 6 days/week for 21 days and then sit for 2 hours each day watching horses/horse behavior, take notes and hand in the notes for review!
😢ein purer Streß für Pferd und Reiter ! Nur weil die Touristen keinen Respektvollen Abstand einhalten können ! Wenn ich selbst einer wäre ich würde es aus der Ferne ansehen und evtl. auch ein Foto machen !!
I wonder if the horses would be more comfortable if they had rubberized mats fitted in the area that they stand in. It would be safer as well because the droppings make the stone surface slippery. Beautiful, beautiful horses.
One of the highlghts of my trip to London was getting to pet the horses they are beautiful i have loved and owned hor see s all my life but still a highlight
They need to stop forcing these horses to do what they obviously don’t want to do at that moment. Let them rest away from all the obnoxious tourists. And how is this an unbelievable act of heroism. It’s click bait!
I totally agree. Bring on the chain before the sprinkler breakers and summer tourists come! There have to be changes for the sake of the horses. I’m an an American, by the way. 😘🇺🇸😁
People should be aware of the sign. Thats why they put it up there for a reason. These horses have to go through a lot and they don’t need any more aggressive behavior from people.
Agitated horse? Hmmm. Tourists, tourists moving about, closing the black door, hearing people talking, dressed up like a peacocok - what horse wouldn't be agitated? Horses are not stage props. AMEN!
Something spooked the horse hewas not happy needed to replaced by another horse that's used to crowdes the soldier trying to calm him was great some of horses are great with people stroking them and love ladies and children this was one was just scared bless him❤❤
Does anyone wonder if the bit in the horses mouth overtime hurts them? That could be a part of the aggravation. The lovely, beautiful horses consistently looks like are chewing on something. (Food for thought).
Just like you and me, there is only so much any creature should be subjected to. People are noisy, smelly, rude and don't understand how unnerving city life and crowds can be in the eyes of horses. NO ONE the horse is not familiar with should be allowed to get that close to a horse without a proper introduction, much less reach out a hand to the head of a 1200 lb. fight-or-flight animal that can only escape in one direction. This horse is being asked to stand in one place for hours and that is not natural for them, especially in this setting.
The shrill laughter, loud talking, touching, children screaming, traffic even the horses hearing various languages. The noise and buzz from the crowds must be very stressful and then the stupid ones stand there refusing to move when the horse is clearly agitated.
