Oh my. Sure would've been neat to have one of the Facom spanner wrenches in the 90's +. We put spacers in 100's of hyd. cylinders and were stuck using a pipe wrench. Embarrassing to me. Excellent sale and a fun video! Tools are pure drool. Haha! I wouldve given $5 just for the band aid box from our youth! You got bunuses.
My wife and I go to garage sales nearly every weekend, as well as estate sales. I shop for tools, she shops for vintage pottery and glass. Both of us have far more of both then we ever will need, and both my garage and our house are over flowing. But, it’s the thrill of the hunt that keeps us going. We’re both in our late sixties and I want to spend the time we have left doing things we both love.
It's not about what you "need" it's all about what you want and also having fun and meeting people. Keep doing what you're doing, we like you're sharing.
Mr Pete ; The adj. spanners I believe were made by Williams and branded Blue Point . The c412 bag was just a universal for many different tools Snap on sold . I was a Snap on dealer for almost 30 years , now retired for close to 20 yrs. Many , many thanks for the fine videos and the priceless education !!!!! Please keep them coming .
I was told once that bluepoint was snap on made outside of the US. And I was told wrong. I was a semi truck driver for a year. Being from the south and only driven in snow and ice once, I found myself in the heart of Chicago driving a 70-foot truck alone. What an experience. Thanks, Mr Pete!
I remember how excited I was walking to an estate sale with a load of machine tools everywhere, I showed up by accident on the last day and still got some great stuff. I could only imagine what I missed out on if the leftovers were so good.
Thank you Mr Pete. I'm really happy for you. I know how exciting it is to find a surprise like that. BTW, we have been doing the shoe boxes for many years. Thank you for y'all's participation. PS congrats on the Mitutoyo goodies.
Good for you Mr. Pete. I actually got to go to one of those once in a lifetime estate tool sales a couple of years ago. I bought more than I should have and not nearly as much as I would liked to have. I can’t say that I need lathe mandrels from 1/4 inch to 2 inches in 1/16th increments but I have them. Along with so many other things that we rattled all the way back to the house.
That metal Band-Aid box is probably worth $5 by itself to the right person. Yeah, you did good! Wish we had garage sales like this. Down here, they are pretty much junk and rags for sale at a high price! Thanks for sharing, Ken
I have kept all of mine and refill them with the new band-aids from cheap flimsy paper containers of today. I have single and double width metal boxes...Love them. Sadly they cost a good $12 to fill them these days.
Mr. Pete, Nice haul. The $5.00 spent on the Band-aid tin of indicators was well worth the price. You can say you paid for the tin box and got the indicators for free. There are tin Band-aid boxes on eBay right now listed for between $4.00- $15.00. Living in Florida, we don't see too many garage sales like the one you attended. What generally happens is the person having the sale had moved to Florida years ago and sold everything before the move. Then if they need a tool after they arrive, they headed to Harbor Freight and picked up some piece of junk which sits in a box (after one use)getting rusty until the widow decides to have a garage sale. I've had luck at thrift stores but still you've got to wade through the Chinese stuff in order to fine something worth while. It's interesting to think of what will be on RU-vid in 60 years. "Antique Harbor Freight Hand Drill Restore" and someone will comment "I had one of those and they sure don't make them that good any more".
New subscriber here, Mr. Pete. Enjoyed seeing your great garage sale haul. All the days my Dad took me around to garage sales in the Naperville area I don’t think we saw a sale that nice!
I hit one of those 15 years back… The Man ran the first jig grinder that was shipped up to Canada. Moore Tools I have his edge finder. He was thrilled to sell it to me when in conversation he learned I ran one. Many tools will virtually last forever. Good find Mr P
Best content as usual. Your channel and courses have been so great for me over the years learning....and also led me to my obsession of buying vintage tools and machines. Up to 2 Atlas shapers now because of this channel alone😏. Have a great weekend and thank you as always.
Mr. Pete...you deserve everything from Mitutoyo! Your channel has changed the world in YTube... Keep doing the things that make you smile and happy...price... "no object"...Many thanks for you time and sharing...
@@mrpete222 ...we all have enough tools to choke 2 cows...and we don't regret any of them when they're needed and put back on the shelf... Unfortunately ...some of us are now walking "sideways" in our shops. Keep up the GREAT work!
I got scared for a second when you said today was june 18th. I'm supposed to be out of town at a function on the morning of the 18th. I thought... oh no, I got my days mixed up, and I'm supposed to be 100 miles from here now. Thin I checked the calendar, and my blood pressure returned to normal. Today is the 15th👍😁 Enjoyed the video and... Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Nice score. Wish I had time to get to yard sales. It's nice to repurpose things rather than have them thrown away. On the flip side, half of what I buy there just sits in my garage instead of theirs...
nice, those Maher's operate in both directions without flipping a switch, most of the new test indicators do. Those FACOM's are top quality. I don't like their wrenches, they are boxy with square sides. But the pin spanner is a top quality item, VERY expensive. When I saw the title, I thought you were having a garage sale .. Glad you had a good haul.
Remember what Walter Brennen used to say. "No brag! Just fact!" That should settle any arguments easily. Great job! I wish we had yard sales with such goodies here in New Hampshire! They are very few and very seldom. Oh well. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing.
Ah Lyle, I never thought you’d “sell out”. But I guess it happens to the best of us.😊 By the way, you never talk too much. It’s your talking, even meandering, that we come here for. I’m sure you know, but some may not know that a longer probe on an indicator changes the readings.
Keep doing what your doing. I thoroughly enjoy it, as I'm sure thousands others do as well. Ignore the negative Nelly's. "Mr. & Mrs. Pete's Adventures"
Very good video(as all your videos), 7:07 as far as I know, this tool is for Motorcycle flywheels and clutches, it can also be used for holding other things such as gears and hubs with holes so that you can do/undo the nut/bolt securing them. Facom is a good, respectable and quality brand. In my opinion it is definitely not a junk.
You may not be aware that there is a relationship between Federal and Mahr. Mahr acquired Federal (Providence, RI )in about 1999 as Mahr Federal and products were branded as such. Within the past 10 years the name was changed to Mahr. Mahr is a large global metrology company based in Germany with history going back to the 1800s.
Singer sewing machine oil very good at 1/3 the price. I've noticed that none of my Mitutoyo tools just don't rust in harsh conditions. Not long ago I worked for a magnesium mine which has some chlorine gas floating around that destroyed Starrett tools.
@@mrpete222 I have learned so much from your videos. I bought a lathe and mill. I am coming along with your teaching through your videos. I need to get the foundry course. Thank you again!
Love your Videos Glad you are having fun tool collecting I too have too many tools but I love hunting for Quality Tools at reasonable prices I live in Iowa and love auctions and some garage sales. It's the hunt that's fun Thanks for posting
That really is an incredible haul. Good find - those tools went to a good home! I wish I could attend the open day, but just started a new job so cannot get the time off - maybe next time!
Maybe a dozen years ago I came across a garage sale that included a lot of machining related stuff, mostly cutting tools. I bought some stuff, but looking back on it now I really wish I would've bought all of it. I could have afforded to back then and I could use those cutting tools right now for projects at home. But I have enough to get by right now so it's all good :) Thanks for posting :)
I would say about one in fifty yard sales to hit the jackpot. Often, the goodies are on a table off to the side and no one seems to know what the stuff is. Ahh, like opening King Tut's tomb, you find "things, wonderful things!" It is exciting when you see the markings like Starrett, Mitutoyo, Lufkin, Brown & Sharpe, and Moore & Wright. Finally, how many 0-1" micrometers does a man need? No one has reached that number to tell us.
i’ve got a few Facom tools but mostly Snap-On. I love their hexagonal tube spanners, they look like short fat Allen keys in a dull chrome but they are tubular. just use like a socket with it’s own small handle. Really comfy to use.
Lyle, I thought that you were doing Petebay to downsize ready for your future demise to save a large estate sale. Here you are stocking up again. Quite daft at your age, especially as you have Brand New Goodies from Mr. Mitutoyo. Regards from Australia
I live in Michigan ( close to Flint &Sag ) and there was a time when there was a tool and die shop every mile even out in the stixs...My pawn shop owning friend told me there was a day when quality machinist tools was a major part of his business but, he said now a days he very rarely gets any machinist tools...
At a garage sale recently I got a set of 6-32 to 1/2-13 spiral point and spiral flute taps, all new, 6 carbide end mills, all new and a 81pc set of gauge blocks for $40. Those sales are really rare around here
I am looking forward to seeing the Mitutoyo Video. That looks like quite a selection of. promotional material. and tools. I think it's a shame that they stopped selling Band-Aids in the little flip top cans or metal boxes, or whatever you choose to call them. They were just the handiest things for storing small parts. Please keep making these videos. There are a lot of us out here that really enjoy them.
Good scores for your needs, I would have got the 1-2-3 blocks, planner gage, test and a dial indicator.... perhaps the magnetic Starrett indicator base.
I am from Europe and facom is well known in Europe. It's one off the best brands and they have really nice tools but are expensive. I worked with that facom tool for years and it's great quality 👍 My whole toolbox was facom
