The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route It's a sightseeing route that connects Toyama and Nagano prefectures, where you can see the mountains of Northern Japan Alps while riding various vehicles. In spring, it is especially famous for a majestic snow corridor whose snow walls reach up to 20 meters high. in April of 2022, we went on this Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, and it was a fantastic trip, so let's talk from the beginning.

I never knew it snowed in Japan in spring. Silly me! Thank you for these videos. They r so well made!

Hahaha, not really. I've heard it snows a lot around the area in the video (and Hokkaido). I lived in Osaka for over 7 years and it only snowed a few times in December (if you are lucky), January and February. It never ever snowed after March (spring).

We did this trip (from the Toyama side and ending in Nagano) in 2016 and it was some of the most amazing scenery we've ever seen. The only thing that spoiled it was the crowds. When we did it the crowds were simply unbearable. Packed like sardines onto every mode of transport really took the shine off the day. And many of them were *very* pushy tour groups. You captured this so well Yusuke-san. Spectacular video.

I totally understand what you mean‼ I guess now is one of the rare opportunities where we can travel without crowds😅

Do you remember around what time you went?
@emelle1283
@emelle1283 10 месяцев назад
You probably went one of the 2 big Japanese national holidays times - Golden Week and Obon. It amazes me when people travel to Japan just when the entire domestic population travels japan too. it's usually fine crowdwise - i've been twice and the crowds were very reasonable.
@spun_01
@spun_01 10 месяцев назад
@@emelle1283 It wasn’t one of those peak periods. I’ve done enough Japan trips to know to avoid those times. It was around the 18th April, so only a week or two after the route opened for the season, and it’s was a gorgeous day so it was not surprising it was packed. Still, I’ve got no regrets. It was incredible.
@emelle1283
@emelle1283 10 месяцев назад
@@spun_01 oh that's the problem then - everyone rushes in the first week or two like flight passengers scrambling for the door on landing - just be patient and wait a month - the crowds dwindle to much more pleasant levels.
