Thank you for spending a few minutes on my channel today. I hope you enjoy watching the project as much as I enjoyed working on it. Thank you to the YT channel Restoration Australia for its help recreating the decals on this project. Please go to his channel and watch how he did it -- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hrJBhe4F-Hc.html and tell him thank you for me. If you would like to watch another one of my projects, watch it here -- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hpYLDRt6fY0.html. Please consider leaving a comment and tell me what you thought of the scale project, good or bad. I don't mind criticism but please be courteous. Cheers! 🍻

I would say this is definitely a restoration. I think the restorer determines what is required to restore the item to full usability and you absolutely did that after evaluating each piece and mechanism. To me, restoration can be cosmetic, or strictly repairs or a combination of the two. I would say that this one was a full restoration and involved all of the corrective work on the metal portions, the plating, the new wooden pad and all of the interior cleaning and oiling of the interior mechanisms. Fantastic job and fun to watch!

Excellent job. And to answer your question, of course this is a restoration. Why would anyone “fix” parts that are just fine? You did what was needed and gave it another 50 years of life (at which point, we will all have a fingernail LCD that will provide our exact weight at any time 😮).

It looks amazing, man. Especially the color selection and wooden insoles are magnificent. I love it. I think the restorer decides how much of the part to be restored will be dismantled. If necessary, the restorer dismantles everything, otherwise leaves it as is. In the RU-vid environment, everything depends on how much the viewer wants to see. Some wonder how the mechanism works. Some wonder how to fix the rusty screw at the bottom. Others just want to see the result. Most viewers say, "This is not a restoration, this is ..." They evaluate what they learned on RU-vid on your project. In fact, those people have never had a hammer or a saw in their hands. In other words, the viewer's answer to the question you asked has no meaning. They are happy to prove to you and other viewers that they know something. According to them, if you haven't dismantled everything, you haven't done a restoration. If you ask me, do what you want to do, the rest doesn't matter. I repeat, you did a great job. Take care of yourself.

Hey. Thank you for the support on this. Your thoughts on it reflect how I feel as well. I am always entertained by viewers who make comments about how we (you, me, anyone else in this content space) should have done something or should not have done something when it is obvious that they have no experience with the matter. In this case, taking something apart when it is not in need of repair is something that would only be done on RU-vid for views, not in real life, and I am curious how viewers will answer this question. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

I love your channel. Your dedication for preciseness and meticulous attention to details is awesome. This 1930's project was amazing since it was quite apparent that the foot standing part must have been very trying, and took a great deal of time to perfect. But, once again, you have excelled; this is nothing less than fine art work. The videos are also so relaxing to watch. Thank you. :)

What an awesome job you did restoring the old bathroom scale. You even coated the steel parts with zinc using electrolysis. It looks much better now and it works like a charm as well. Great work.

Wow that was a beautiful job 👍 you did an amazing job matching the paint colour on the dial and those decals turned out great. Loved the Zink plating, how did you make your solution ?
@Restorology
@Restorology Год назад
Hey thanks. The solution is a standard at-home version using vinegar, salts, and zinc plates. It is really easy to do once you figure out required voltage and current and it doesn't take much time to get a great almost rust-proof coating. 🍻

I would say that's a restoration. A repair would be just a removal or straightening of broken parts a and then a reassembly. A refinishing would be some repairs and a cosmetic cleaning.

The restoration is wonderful, the scales look great! But you need to work on the post-production. Good shooting quality, sounds, angles. But there are questions about the installation 🤔 Fast-fast-fast-slow-fast-slow and so on (I mean acceleration, not the time of the scene). A lot of acceleration - it looks like a fuss (in my opinion). Place emphasis on important actions. Is the action long and monotonous (like washing or painting)? Show the beginning at the speed of 1x, and accelerate the rest. Or you can also start at 1x, and the rest in short cuts without acceleration (as when sawing off a part). You don't need such a variety of transitions, it's distracting, believe me. The usual cut inside the scene, darkening between blocks and a few atypical transitions in interesting places (left-right transitions look good at 13:40). Another non-action works well as the separation of blocks - for a few seconds, objects just lie in the frame. The balance of calm and action is important. It may sound strange, but it's like a melody - dynamic monotony sounds boring, a variety of length enlivens the narrative. I repeat - you have great videos, I really like them, and if you refine them it will be even better. thank you 💜
@Restorology
@Restorology Год назад
Hi. Thank you for the advice. I always welcome feedback on how the video appeared to everyone. With regard to how everything is presented, there is always a balance of trying to show as many steps as possible with the time it takes to do so. If I showed every step at normal speed, you all would be asleep from boredom. I always struggle with how much to show and sometimes speeding up the footage allows me to give an idea of how much work is involved without taking so much of your time. Thanks again for the feedback!! 🍻
@СинЛіниЗУкраїни
@Restorology
@Restorology Год назад
@СинЛіниЗУкраїни
@@Restorology , Боже, як приємно за відповідь українською мовою, переклад майже бездоганний! Сенс використання Вами деревини тепер мені зрозумілий з Вашої відповіді, дякую! Будьте щасливі!

Very nice! Also I 100% think it’s smart not to completely dissemble something just for the sake of it, so many make that mistake and damage things and put it back together worse then it was before and are too dumb to realize what they have done more harm then good! If it works don’t fix it am I right?

sorry , but that was not a restoration , that was a repair and modification . I hated your colour choice , and personally I would have liked to have seen you restore the mech . I just think electric blue is not really appropriate for a 1930`s resto . work well done , no denying that , just could have been better with a more in keeping approach.
