Volcano hellion doesn't work with swans of bryn argoll. Volcano hellion says the damage can't be prevented, swans only draws you cards off the damage prevented
If you gain control of an opponents creature, then turn that stolen creature into a mirror-mad phantasm (for example with "Sakashimas Will") and then activate the ability, you will mill your opponent out.
I play Swans in Sevinne, the Chronoclasm (Sevinne prevents ALL damage that would be dealt to him). The deck is filled with red board wipes and Sevinne and his pet bird can sit through the fire and flames.
i actually had a really niche card called arena of the ancients in my shorikai deck. the errata'd text is "legendary creatures don't untap during their controllers untap steps." and " when arena of the ancients enters the battlefield, tap all legendary creatures". since shorikai is a vehicle and not a creature, it would untap while opposing commanders wouldn't untap. it also makes legendaries have more risk for when you tap them because they won't untap without removal.
Void Maw has great alternative use, instead of using it's ability to become stronger, you can use it to negotiate with other players. If a player lost their combo piece/creature they want, you can negotiate with that player in exchange for returning their creature to their graveyard. The +2/+2 will be considered just a bonus.
About street sweeper, I have a Mazzy true sword paladin deck that my friends have dubbed “land land land” because I put like all of the land auras that make my land tap for extra mana onto one land and then I have multiple ways to untap that one land a few times and it gets insane. I then make a separate land into a creature with a different aura and because Mazzy, swing in with a trampling land that has all that glitters on it 😂. I play it from time to time at my lgs and people smile as they die to a land

Standardize is a UU Instant that gives all creatures a creature type until end of turn. Really fun to use if you have a “gain control of all ___” or “destroy all (non) ___” cards. Also is busted with a Coat of Arms
You can also combo Volcano Hellion/Stuffy Doll with Pariah's Shield, which you can equip to Stuffy Doll. Pariah's shield transfers Volcano Hellion's damage from you to the Doll. You don't lose life, and you can just choose the life total of the other player, because damage done to Stuffy will just kill them. Then it triggers again because you can choose Stuffy Doll as the creature it targets in addition to you. Because it's funny. Or you can choose another target if you're a square. Or, you can choose the opponent's life total -1 to give them a final stand and a next turn! Because that's really funny.
I’ve been brewing a Trelasarra build that uses all off the Soul Sisters and I’ve got Planar Guide in there. Blinking the entire field when you have multiple effects that’ll trigger off of any ETB is wild. Of course that’ll also remove counters so in this case it’s best to use it for recovering when the commander is coming back from being removed.
Does volcano hellion goes well with this swan? I think that you draw for damage prevented this way, and hellion states that this damage cannot be prevented.
I don't run these cards, but there's two on the list I'm getting. Chiss-Goria loves all artifacts, but one that will keep the Darksteel Mutation off is a welcome sight.
Body of knowledge draws you cards equal to damage dealt. And I have drawn 13 from it. It also works with fire covenant, and that hellion trick. Great list super unique stuff
Mirror Mad Phantasm works really well in a Bruna Light of Alabaster deck. You ditch a bunch of cards in your graveyard and Bruna brings back all the auras. A bit of a gamble, but fun nonetheless.
Conjure's closet blink works with all exile replacement effect for permanents like dreams of the Dead, Serra Paragon, disturbed, unearth, finally counter, and etc. Harvest Pyre is great with Swans of Bryn Argoll. Drawing a card for each card you exile from in your graveyard for 2 mana is powerful.
The thing with the krenko streetsweeper example is that red has quite a few ways to sac lands or straight up permanents and while they probably dont fit well in krenko, neither does street sweeper. All that said it might be more useable against enchantress decks stacking land auras for ramp.
On the subject of street sweeper, jangling automaton is an extremely niche one too. I usually pair it with treacherous link and death watch. speaking of which, Volcano Hellion + treacherous link/ragged veins/binding agony is lots of fun
@@Poenas when jangling automaton attacks, whoever it attacks untaps all their creatures. so, you cant hide your creature from forced combat by tapping them
Several old instant and sorceries used to be worded as a it activated abilities I know many were changed with oracle text so this could very well be the last one remaining
Great list of cards but I got to say tat there is a non-bo in this video. You will not draw cards off the swan with the hellion because damage can't be prevented. swans only draw based off of the damage prevented to them. Love your vids! keep them comin'!
Eum, Void Maw seems super cool in my Ludevic, Necrogenius // Olag, Ludevic's Hubris deck.. Since when he copies void maw with his ability, he can put cards he exiled when transforming, back in to your hand.. seems quite cool..
How exactly does Volcano Hellion work with Swans? Hellion says "the damage can't be prevented." You'll just kill the swan and draw zero cards,right? Or am I not understanding something?
I used to love Void Maw... that was until someone stole my turn, sacrificed my entire board including my commander (Sedris) and let it stay in exile in my reanimator deck. Sad times.
I don't think Volcano hellion works with Swans of brynn argoll. You draw cards equal of prevented damages but Volcano hellion makes these damages can't be prevented.
I genuinly don't understand why Fateful Handoff costs so much mana. There are so many hoops you have to jump through to get any value from it. Wizards card design is sometimes really, really strange.
all of these cards are infact unique but fateful handoff not necessary a unique card because im pretty sure blim and Jon Irenicus use fateful handoff all the time in their decks
If anyone wants a really underrated commander that uses both Mirror-mad Phantasm and Void Maw to their fullest potentials. Try out Ludevic, Necrogenius. Because of the unique wording on the flip side of him, if you turn him into a copy of Dark Imposter or Patchwork Crawler, he is able to use the activated abilities of all creatures he exiled to transform. You can do the same Mirror-mad ability looking for the wrong name to mill your whole deck for a labman win and I often find myself using voidmaw to put all of the creatures exiled by Ludevic back into the graveyard to do it all again in response to him finally getting dealt with. He let's you do some really unique stuff with really weird cards and a ton of people love it in my playgroup.
These combo's are terrible. None of the pieces are good cards on their own and the combined mana costs of a + b are off the charts for all of them. Casuals only.
