John (Robert Redford) offers David (Woody Harrelson) $1 million for one night with his wife Diana (Demi Moore).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Adrian Lyne buffs the premise of Honeymoon in Vegas to a fine gloss in this yuppie melodrama that poses the conundrum of whether the loving husband of an equally loving wife will accept $1 million to allow his wife to spend one night with a billionaire who looks like Robert Redford. All the cynics please take a number and form a line at the right. Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson play Diana and David Murphy, high-school sweethearts who marry and who are doing very well -- Diana is a successful real-estate agent, and David is an idealistic architect who has built a dream house by the ocean -- until the recession hits. Suddenly, David loses his job, and they can't make the mortgage payments. Dead broke, they borrow $5000 from David's father and head to Las Vegas to try to win money to pay the mortgage on their house. At first, they get $25,000 ahead -- but inevitably the house always wins, and they end up losing it all. While Diana is in the fancy casino boutique trying to lift some candy, she is spotted by billionaire John Gage (Robert Redford), who is immediately attracted to her. John invites Diana and David to an opulent party, and it is there that John offers David $1 million for a night with his wife. David is wracked by this moral dilemma, but Diana finally makes the decision on her own, with ensuing consequences for their ideal marriage and their bank account.

Not necessarily. It's hard to believe, shocking even, that someone should dare propose such a thing and be serious about it. Hence the delay. Haven't we all been in situations in which we under-reacted to something that's really very insulting and later wished we had acted more strongly / assertively?

His casting and presence raises this from trashy schlock to a conversation piece. Other actors would ham it up and play him with a villainous flare or predatory fashion. Polpiv4tifish this is a story about true love and how that is worth more than any amount. This film runs deep. David comes to terms with Diana being with John and accepts it - that’s something you can only do when you truly love someone. The way the film ends with Diana and David touching hands still shows that despite what has happened between them they are truly destined to be together and that their love is unbreakable. And therein lies the rub; true love is a real treasure that is of the highest value which lasts forever

Always easy for yall to sit there and say this and that. Wait until you get put in the drivers seat! People will do anything for money when they are desperate. My situation was 95% exactly like the movie. Except My hot and pretty gf did not sell herself! We joked about she being a sugar baby when we hit rock bottom due to gambling for 3 years! I told her to move on and get married because she was 30 at the time. She chosed to stay. Never gamble guys.

He never hesitated ! She woke up in the middle of the night and said she wanted to do it ! Did you watch the movie ? Who are you kidding ? She wanted to do it ! Unfortunately, the movie is not realistic. No man on the planet would ever take a woman back who slept with another man for 1 million ( and say she did it for the relationship ). That guy psychologically would never be able to take her back. If she was TRULY in love with her husband SHE would have NEVER taken the offer. PERIOD.

"A million dollars for a lifetime of security." That's 27 years ago and here in Vancouver, Canada today, the average house price is over 1.63 million dollars. Renting a 2 bedroom condo would get you about 33 years in it with that 1 million if the rent didn't go up. What about food, a car, clothing, shoes and condo insurance which you MUST have? Oh how times have changed.
