if you are not paying for the dress, then you shouldn't even try one double the budget . That's selfish, childish, and disrespectful towards the person that's paying for it. Unacceptable.

I don't want to be mean but I think when someone else pays for your dress you either get one that is in the budget or YOU pay the difference for it. What she did is disrespectful.

The dress she picked is absolutely beautiful, elegant, timeless, and regal. But you cannot tell me that in that entire shop they don't have a single similar dress that's closer to her budget. Even if she had to compromise on the lace edging on the skirt or the beading, I highly doubt they don't have something suitable within (or very near to) her budget.

The fact she was unknownly pregnant during this and had to get another dress since she would be 8 months at the wedding is note worthy.

The psychology of this bride is fascinating. Big emphasis on modesty, conservatism, and church wedding when it comes to the dress/wedding. Yet ends up coming a second time, because she’s gonna be 8 months along at the wedding 💀. Has no problem going 2x over the budget/cancelling other’s financial decisions when it’s not her money to spend, but makes sure to stick to it when it’s mom’s wallet. Ends up buying a 3rd diff dress anyway. Clearly her mil doesn’t like her, and jimmy wants to do his bachelor party in Sin City… The amount of red flags they would be better off using some of the budget for therapy

I had to look it up. Yep, she did end up having to get a new dress because she was pregnant but she didn’t have to pay for this one. She was able to cancel the order.

Many of the really expensive wedding dresses I've seen in SYTTD make you think - why on earth does that simple dress cost soooo much money!? But this one has so much material and intricate lacework, that it is definitely worth the high price tag.

That dress is actually a very simple alteration. My friend had basically the same dress for $2000 including her veil and alterations. She found an inexpensive strapless white satin ball gown and had the lace bodice added to it. The only difference was she had 3/4 length sleeves, a full lace back, and a fancy jewel belt.

Some people like classic and traditional styles. That doesn’t make them ugly. This was a beautiful dress - just maybe not your style. But no reasons for so many rude comments about it

Yep I have to agree a bloody lot of money for a dress you will wear one time. I hired my dress, my husband wanted me to buy it, after the wedding. It cost $60 to hire & i got $30 of that back (security) we had 170 people at our wedding. Although I usually make wedding/engagement/ B'day cakes, I bought my own $40.00 I did all my own catering we has a smorgasbord for the reception, i was doing finishing touches to food while in my wedding dress, waiting for the w/car to pick me up. So on a wild guess I think $600 for Dress, Vail & bouquet. cake, food, the church dressed the church. My inlaws paid for all the alcohol & there was massive amount of alcohol! It was a beautiful wedding & reception i couldn't fault it. But the marriage only lasted 15yrs. But I think some people pay way too much for their wedding & that could have been a deposit for your first house.

I tried on a dress that I fell in love with, wasn't really all that expensive in the grand scheme of things, but far more than I was comfortable with (think it was £1k back in 2008) - my mother was waving her credit card around in excitement but I refused to buy it because I didn't think a dress I was only wearing once should cost that much. I really can't get into the mindset of going "what the heck, it's my dream dress!" (also - I know she didn't wear it... I've seen the photos of the wedding on facebook)

She was indecisive because she actually wanted a pricier dress and wasn’t willing to compromise.
