🇮🇳 I continued my night market tour avoiding people spitting on me and then arrived at the ghats on the holy River Ganga ( Ganges ) to watch the spectacular Ganga Aarti ceremony. Incredible India! 😍
I'm a 36 year old British Sikh who's never had any interest in visiting Indi at all. I have no family there and had no desire to visit but your videos have made me want to book a flight. You show the true India and the places nobody ever shows which really interests me. Thank you for what is probably one of the greatest vlogs on YT at the moment.
I am from the U. S and have walked the same streets and been to that gathering and out on the river at night. Just down river are the cremation piers that burn 24 hours a day with about 15 fires burning at any one time. India changed my whole perspective on life. Great video dude.
@@aakarshmaurya2265 so what , covid affected whole world ,the only difference is indian people burn which can be seen while others Buried them and can't be seen and wasted the precious land.
India is literally like no where else on the planet....I used to have the distinct feeling when I tavelled around India that either these people were not of this world, or that I had somehow left the planet and gone somewhere very alien....and I mean that in the most respectful way....an incredible place and incredible people...hope I get the chance to return one day.
भगवान भला करे Mr Bald. when you helped that man crawling in the street It brought a tear to my eye as I reflected back on a similar unfortunate young man I saw In Thailand while I was at a restaurant owned by a very disagreeable and demanding Thai-Chinese man who continually barked orders at the staff and occasionally at the patrons while he violently lashed stray dogs with a bamboo cane. As the crippled young man (about my age at the time) crawled past me and the mostly European and American customers, I saw they were visibly appaled and repulsed by the sight of him. Two French women demanded the owner remove him because he was spoiling their meal, and the owner barked at them to "be quiet!" as he approached the young man with the strip of bamboo in hand, and just as I expected to see the hapless young man take a lashing as painful as just obliged to the mutts I thought: "The sight of that will be more than I can bear to witness." But to my astonishment, the owner whom until that point I deemed a heartless monster, instead brought out a carpet, a pillow and drink for the young man followed by a full meal. The owner then ignored the demands of his patrons sat on the ground next to this young man, chatted and joked with him until he finished his meal so as not to let him eat alone. That experience had a profoundly humbling effect on the patrons and I left pushing back tears. After that, whenever I felt the compulsion to pre-judge someone that image returned. As Mark Twain so poignantly pointed out: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” I hope the man crawling in the street is actually doing better financially than other able people, and not being used by some street mob, but either way with some compassion like you showed, you never know he may be able to achieve as much or more than most. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing that. Sadly beggars (both able, pretending or handicapped) have an extreme street live, which is unfathomable for people who have been fortunate enough to avoid homelessness. They live in communities which live by different rules.. Street rules. Though the law is equal for all, I doubt a lot of fuss is ever made for a wronged beggar. One small example : I wanted to give blankets to some beggars for winters underneath a flyover & I was stopped by one of the local people who knew me, saying the one who will get it, might even get killed for possessing that blanket by another who will want it. They have extreme lives. Esp for any women born amoungst the homeless. They are the second most unfortunate people to live, in my eyes. Most unfortunate is the Psychiatrist patients who have been abandoned by their families, leading schizophrenic or utterly disorganised lives on the streets, sometimes without clothes or in tatters, covered in muck from head to toe. That's the most pitiful state. They don't even beg for money. Life in general is painful. "every man (person) bears his own cross", but sometimes I think, the weight might be inhuman for some to bear.
@Halal Big Mac McDonalds Yes, I would say that's not unlikely, and I alluded to that in my comments. He may even be supporting a family by capitalizing on his misfortune, and I would have to ask if there is any legitimate reason to begrudge him for it, or rather is it not unreasonable to appreciate that if he is making more than a professional, in a way that helps offset his misfortune? Some might see parading his misfortune as exploiting sympathy for income, but is that anymore abhorrent than taking money from hard-working people, in the name of helping the poor and disabled and wasting 75% as is done in the U.S.: fivethirtyeight.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/flowers-welfare-reform-1.png?w=288 while the disabled are for the most part given a stipend to be shut-away and forgotten. My guess is that the man in the Indian street could have more self-esteem than the disabled in the west and even many who live in luxury. The point I believe Mr Bald and N Banerjee below are trying to impart is dispassion as a form of compassion, In much of the world, the disabled survive or die only on the individual more than the collective compassion of others wherein the 1st world we are removed from witnessing close-up the suffering much of humanity endures, and I'm not sure that makes us any more compassionate. Some of the most caring and compassionate people I've encountered are those who have suffered and witnessed suffering in some of the poorest parts of the world, regrettably, it's not always the case for those who have given into resentment, scorn and hate in light of desperation.
@@ProcalcitoninC Very well put. And is not the inhumanity of humanity the existential point Budda, Gandhi, Christ and many other notables preached to largely closed minds and hearts?
@@yourneighbor2567 Thanks, and my intent was not to imply that Europeans were horrible, but rather to attempt to provide some contrasting observations and questions as to perceptions and efficacy of social and political welfare in the west and the "developing" world, and how travel outside "one little corner of the world" as Twain put it is "fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness"
East or west Jai Bole ki is the best. Bald and Bankrupt is the RU-vid Mega Star. I am addicted to your videos. You are a great and honest person. Kind at heart.

At least it wasn't crowded 😉. Jai Bhole Ki! The energy there seemed palpable. Another wonder unique to India. Thanks for sharing, brother. Jai mata di!
There's something about India that I can't explain. I've been watching so many vlogs about India for a while now. I'm proud I'm not even an Indian lol. Beautiful people, the food, the rich culture. I hope one day I can visit India and meet up with my friends in Bhubaneswar, Pune and New Delhi. Incredible India 🇮🇳 Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭 Vande Mataram 🇮🇳
Consistent uploading, real uncensored content, no other option than to subscribe. Great job with the vlogs, I honestly feel there is huge potential for your channel.
I was literally just saying Mr Bald and/or Harald need to upload because I am missing out on unfiltered India fix. I tried watching a few other channels but have yet to find any that are not touristy or vapid. Low and behold, Mr Bald comes though with the goods. Thank you sir.
@@baldandbankrupt I loved the ending. Mostly because I actually recognised where you were. I've never been to India, but just this morning I was looking at a house for sale overlooking the Ganges next to the Hotel Brijrama Palace and the Darbhanga Ghat. So when I saw the pooja (or are they shrines when outside and pooja when in your home? maybe someone can clarify) I knew right away where you were.
Big plans for next year. I plan to travel every one of the 15 ex USSR states in a continuous overland journey. Sometime after Spring. Hopefully it all pans out

Thank god you upload new vlogs daily, I desperately wait for them. I can’t even describe it in words how much happy vibes I get from your videos, keep up the good work buddy! Hope to see some stuff from Himachal Pradesh. Cheers!
Im from the UK and I am quite jealous of what you have. Constantly chasing better jobs here becomes so stressful and repetitive, what you once loved got you a job/career but you start to get quite sick of it. I definitely don't have the balls to just pick up and leave but I never really considered somewhere like India as a place to visit and try to release that stress until I started watching these videos. Cheers for being a source of inspiration
WOW ... that was superb ... a beautiful ceremony. Thank you for this opportunity to see and hear it, you can almost smell the incense. Be well Mr. Bald, love travelling with you.
Bald, Thank you for showing this! I have wanted to go to the Ganges river to see this ceremony for many years. I had a trip planned about 15 years ago, but there was a travel advisory, the embassies were evacuated, and I never went. What a beautiful culture! I see why you like it in India! I don't know that I'll ever make it there, but it was beautiful to see. So many thanks, I cannot explain. Thank you!!!

I'm so confused by all these comments talking about how "special" and "magical" Indian cities are to travel to. I'm sorry but this honestly looks the complete opppsite to me. It looks beaten down, shoddy, noisy, and (more than anything else) claustrophobic. Looks like a place I would regret coming to in a matter of 5 seconds lol. More power to Mr. Bald and all the other people who enjoy this kind of thing, but it's def not for me.

Varanasi is a beautiful place. The present government should put some efforts to get the infrastructure of the city in place. The city is suffering because the lack of interest shown by the previous governments in developmental works in not only Varanasi but also other deserving cities like Allahabad ( Prayagraj), Kanpur, Lucknow and Gorakhpur. I'm a fairly new subscriber catching up on all your Indian videos. I'm a tall ginger lady with long red hair so I stood out big time when I went to India in 2015. I've learned a ton of Hindi myself so I always enjoy when you speak Hindi with the locals. I enjoy their shocked reaction lol. I visited the golden temple as you did, and the Haridware part of the Ganges, where I also saw poor invalids like the one crawling on the ground. Side note, I wonder if you have ever visited Egypt? I can't seem to find any videos of yours visiting there. Would be nice to see your take on it. Zamalek is nice and quiet, on the river Nile.
@@kumarijaylakshmi82 these are just excuses, Indians have no concept of keeping public property clean or treat it as their own , they clean their home and get angry if someone walks in with shoes on but will throw garbage anywhere outside, part of the problem is you grow up seeing this world as dirty as it is so you get used to it.
Bhola means the Lord Shiv. He is called so because he gets satisfied very easily on the penance his devotees perform. Jai bhole ki means Victory to the Lord Shiv.
After seeing this video, which is an excellent presentation, I've decided to scratch India off the list of the countries I want to visit next. Thank you Ben for your informative videos. Best wishes to you in your adventures.
