@@mcdelive Population argument is silly, ultimately only 11 players play. Australia is a wealthy country that invests heavily in Sports and has all the infrastructure in all the sports. Sri Lanka has 2 WCs which is a great achievement but look at the state of SL cricket now.
Why would people be jealous? We won 1 trophy after 11 years even West Indies won a trophy before us. People won’t care if we win 1 trophy in 11 years lol. We have to win more trophies in order for people to be jealous, ideally win more trophies than Australia. There are 2 next year and as long is bgt is fine we will be in final of one of them. I’m not sure about champions trophy but maybe we can win that too. Hope we win one trophy next year at least. Would be nice to win both. If we win both we are only 2 behind Australia.
Before the tournament started everyone’s favourites were Australia, England, South Africa. England and Australia were served the tournament in a plate, both team played all their games in the Caribbean on good pitches. That is why both their media were salty against India last few days. So satisfying. Tasty.

Finally an objective view of India's performance. It's true that there is a lot of India bashing going on with conditions, pitches, travel etc by non Indian media. But the cricket player and results earned are evidence enough.
To be honest England should have won this World Cup. Had a really easy path. But India destroyed them in semis. Australia also had a decently easy path to semis but with Afghanistan upset and India winning they got knocked out.
First innings looked about par. South Africa wobbled up top but settled and completely took over, they had one hand on the trophy but the difference was the last 4 overs. Indian bowlers handled the pressure and SA dug themselves into an inexplicable hole, that SKY catch was the moment the match was settled.

When you need 30 off 30, as the chasing team and Bumrah has the ball in hand.... Assume he takes 1 wicket and gives 6 off his 12. It's still 24 required of 18 with 5 wickets in the bag and a set batsman at the crease. SA proper choked but that's because India applied the choke.

His natural position is 1 down but was just playing for higher strike in beginning games so even if he gets out, middle order got in form because of that. He stepped down actually from his natural game. But anyways its good he retired from this format as he has always only been king of 50 overs format. Run a ball is his typa game. Not T20. Thats why RCB never won a trophy in 16 years. Imagine he also threw away his wicket early instead of playing anchor role. Or imagine he got out when he scored 50 off after wasting 48 balls. India surely 10 or 20 runs short always because of his slow strike rate in t20 cricket. Look at how youngsters play the game. Axar sky hardik ......50 off 30's .....20 off 10 balls ..... that's the best approach even if you get out early you have consumed less balls so the next guy can have chance to take the game forward. It would be unfair to South Africa if we called this a choke. They played a brilliant game of cricket. This wasn’t choke. Indian pace bowlers and especially Bumrah were just too good. There was an obvious difference between how South Africa played Indian spinners versus how they played Indian pacers.

That was a choke for the ages orchestrated by a bowler for the ages. Just when you think you have seen all the magic from Bumrah, he produces another otherworldly performance. And what a nerveless spell at the end from Arshdeep and Hardik alongwith that super catch from Sky and the sheer class of Kohli. A wonderful tournament lit up by the performances of the so called minnows including Afghanistan and Scotland and fittingly won by the best team at the moment.
Calling it a choke takes away from the good performance India put in on those specific moments. Even with 2 balls to go, SA could have won it, but the catch of SKY was the final swing in the game.
To be fair both the teams played superbly throughout the tournament, and the Final match too. The Final progressed mostly evenly to the end. But India had that critical edge. This game was also a wonderful demonstration of “catches win matches” and we could witness a few incredible ones. Well done India 🇮🇳
As a South African,having listened to endless discussions on the issue of choking, we've finally gotten rid of that tag.Nearly chasing down that total,on a pitch that suited India more,it was an outstanding fighting effort from our boys.Congrats to India!

2:50 - Rishab Pant's break of play I saw the recap of the match, and it wasn't fake/ planned. Remember, he has had a massive accident and has gone through rehab & recovery. The last ball of the Bumrah over, he takes a tumbling dive to catch the ball thrown back at the stumbs. It was after this, he needed the physio.
2007 t20 world cup final between India vs pak comes close to this! Very similar to how the game went. All rounders bowling the last over and pak almost winning!

As a final, 2007 was even better as it had more changes in momentum and even more batshit crazy last over when no one was used to T20 Cricket. Even 2016 was awesome. This maybe the 2nd or 3rd best. 2012 was also good

India looked like they had choked. 😰 The WC was SA's to win with ease. Then the following happened to the run rate: 16th over: Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah: 4 runs 17th over : Bowler: Hardik Pandya: 4 runs 18th over: Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah: 2 runs 19th over: Bowler: Arshdeep Singh:4 runs 20th over : Bowler: Hardik Pandya: 8 runs Those final 5 overs, are the greatest Death Bowling of WC history. India strangled the SA run rate whilst taking key wickets, including a magnificent boundary catch. Getting Klassen out, who looked super dangerous..... & also Miller wickets were key .....as was Jansen. That boundary catch was critical. Whilst staring into the jaws of certain defeat, India grabbed the most incredible victory.

rohit sharma and rahul dravid tactics were not the best...especially not giving hardik enough to bat..as he is a big match player like kohli and would have scored more runs...and then giving axar extra over when he should have gone with pace...they are lucky that they were up against the greatest choking team in sports who gave up a commanding position and some brilliant bowling by bumrah...
