I'm really happy that Aria represents the whole India and she actually explains that we can't put entire India in one box as India is so diverse... and Aria is explicitly telling this creating awareness dispelling the stereotypes in popular culture (Indian food = Curry, butter chicken, naan).
biryani is pretty stereotypical too and i think the other indian girl bought the same exact dish for indian lunch video. i think typical food that would be enjoyed by indians widely would be roti, daal, sabzi, aachar/chutney and papad this is a balanced meal and has a lot of varieties and is enjoyed by most of the indians
@@payojaaa Biryani is not stereotypical it is available everywhere in india and roti is common food in north and rice is common food in south. You are being stereotypical saying roti daal and thats your personal opinion.
Indian school lunches are extremely diverse! During my school days, my mom used to pack generally paratha (Indian bread variety) and alu sabji (an Indian vegetable dish with potato as the main ingredient) along with biscuits! We also alternated between bread-omelette, french toasts, Maggi noodles, egg chowmein, egg paratha etc! It's very different in different regions! Also have to clarify that curry is not just one dish! We have numerous varieties of curries, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, each with their distinctive regional twist!
Yeah...you can take anything you like in your tiffin..like I used to take parathas, noodles, idli, upma, poha, etc I mean you can take cake, biscuit or something this if you want..but most of the time mom packs the lunch..😁
This video is not about your tiffins but instead what the school themselves provide and I think in most Indian schools they do not provide with lunch food.
As an Indian..I can confirm that I never had Biriyani in my lunch box till date..It's always kept aside for special occasions..🥲🥲🥲 Jokes apart..maybe in some regions it's allowed as a school tiffin but I remember having chira polao, poha, paratha, idli etc in my school days...💖 School days are amazing..isn't it??😉
She explained it by saying biryani for occasions only and normally people have their own food depending on regions. If you never had biryani thats your choice.
i mean i agree with you on the school lunch bit but biriyani can be enjoyed at anytime no need to look for a special ocasion. Its the perfect takeout food if you ask me
the yogurt we eat with biryani is mostly raita instead of straight up plain yogurt, i personally love raita that's made by combining yogurt with lassun chutney (sauce made with garlic and red chillies)
Lunch box in India is basically all the mother’s love and whatever they could make with the ingredients available at home. So it always differed. Sandwiches, roti sabji, masala rice, maggi, paratha etc. Sharing each other’s lunch boxes was so much fun. Kids innocently love everything 🥹
she's right. india has different lunches depending on the state. i went to south india for middle school and we'd have rice, dhaal, and whatever veggie fry (it varies every day).
I'm from America and I have to admit that American school lunches are rather plain, boring, and just unhealthy. LOL! I'm jealous of Asian countries who get to eat a lot of high quality nourishing meals everyday. Most of the food here in America is processed junk that leads to diabetes, obesity, and all types of ailments.
It depends what school district as well as what generation. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. I went to pretty nice schools despite starting lower middle class. My mother always made my lunch, so I never knew what other kids ate at lunch. I usually ate 3 to 4 PB&J sandwiches and a small milk.
@@taoist32 oh, no doubt american cafeteria school lunches back then used to be way better than current. i'm pretty sure it was around the late 2000s, the government called for a lunch that leaned towards "healthy" but cheap. i'll never forget the switch around 2009, because my school used to serve these delicious soft pretzels with hot cheese & fruit snacks...🥲
I'm pretty sure American school lunches are undoubtedly healthy, just not as good, by law school food must nutritious meals. Though, in general, in America you can no doubt find healthy alternatives to meals, some ppl are just too lazy to do so. It's not really an American problem, just a people decision problem.
I liked how Aria talked about diff regions & tried to bring in the dishes which are liked by most of us but if we talk about typical lunch platter I'd think a 'Thali' would be a better choice imo altho it will not have all the foods from diff regions obviously 😅
@@maxrockatansky5657 thali is a combination of different indian food like rice, any type of Indian bread (roti, paratha, Puri) , fried vegetable, curry made from pulse, curry made from vegetables , any Indian mithai/sweet dish, some crunchy food like papad , chutney/achhar (pickle) and salad
I had like 20 different dishes for lunch in India. And I was vegetarian back then. So even I can't think of something that is typical. Just too much variety. But if I really have to pick something, then probably "aloo paratha" with "yogurt" + "cauliflower based veggies".
Unfortunately thats the whole knowledge of indian cuisine foreigners have so i can't really blame her. Foreigners are usually unaware of the diversity of india along with its cuisine
Dunno if should be calling it “curry”, since it’s a British word. But I’m South Indian from Kerala, we mostly have different types of “curries”. Whenever I eat Indian food, there’s always some type of “curry” whether it’s vegetable curry or meat etc.
@@prithamandal2738bro, curry has different meaning in different parts of India. In south India, any side dish with rice or roti is known as curry. Bindi fry is a curry, chicken gravy is a curry, aloo kurma is a curry, dahi made dishes are also curry. So, in south India , especially in Kerala, we go to school with two or three curries with rice for our lunch. I lived in northern Indian states, but people there don't understand the word 'curry', they use a Hindi word 'kadhi' , I think it's the name of some dish. In Kerala, 'curry' is a daily word.
I am from India, I live in Assam.. and I get roti/Puri and aalu or chutney everyday sometimes fried rice in my lunch and maximum students bring roti and we can't bring Junk food in school except Saturday. And I love my country ❤
American don't have good memories of school lunches. That because even if India is larger the is an Idea of Indian food. You can go anywhere in India and find a similar style of food. The 5 spice mix and prep and it would translate in what you get in school. In the US What you get in school has very little to do with what you normally get at home. It's what you get outside of the home that is the common food culture Pizza burger fried chicken.... that collectively people will accept as a lunch. It's like getting street food as school lunches in other countries. If you are Latino you have rice, beans, and an entrée with salsa. You can't expect all the other ethnic groups to like that as your daily meal. This is why American lunches are so disliked because the district has to serve the same thing in all the schools on the same day with a narrow menus of foods the majority of the kids will eat. done it the least flavorful way.
@@faervas1234do not speak for all Americans, when I was in school, our moms and grandmothers worked at the school cafeteria and made all the food by scratch, we had no processed food ever.
@@faervas1234 I am sorry to let you know but you're really incorrect on the Indian part, there is diversity in food no matter which state you step into, and about the 5 spices, well trust me not all food includes the 5 spices and even if they do, the taste at the end and the diversity put into it by the diff places and people makes it put out to be unique. I bet you've a little knowledge about Indian foods
Ahhh they could've given a proper raits instead of just plain yogurt. Yogurt works too but the explosion of flavours would've come with a refreshing raita. Loved Aria 's answer that there can't be a defined "lunch" in India due to regional variations and she was also right on our staples - rice AND roti. Thankyou to Aria and the channel for representing India correctly ❤️
@@jacksonwangspapillong4217 I know that much bro bec I am Indian but they don't bec they eat it in restaurant ready to eat 😇 they possibly don't know what kind of spices they should use 😇
Love Aria's explanation about India...she clearly stated India is a huge country with different region where we have different food and we speak different languages...There is no common food or Language...well said 👏
The pizza with Milk, would be like rice with yogurt - it helps with digesting - so I can comprehend that being a South Asian myself. Glad to see everyone in the panel having fun!
@@truthfinder8652lol and who says it's not good for the body? With a 10 second google search, you can see why people drink milk with pizza, for the same reason people eat yogurt with rice (spicy meal) - to neutralize😕. Plus.....cheese is made from milk lol.....the only time it would be bad is if your lactose intolerant....
Aria is so inspiring. She speaks three languages fluently (possibly more) and one of the only Indian idols I've ever seen. It's not something you see every day.
haha india is so big that even though every region has their version of Biryani, there is still so much heated debate over which one is the best. This is what happens when you live in a land that is sooo diverse. P.S. i aint complaining, i just find this fun. Also, Lucknow biryani is the best, closely followed by or matched by Hyderabadi...there my own take lmao
A lot of the things Shannon said about US schools is just specific to the school she went to. We didn't have strawberry milk or cheese sticks (not a meal). Nachos, pizza, frito boat, chicken sandwiches, rib sandwiches, wraps, popcorn chicken, rotini, beef/chicken quesadillas, grilled cheese... and more that I'm forgetting, were served at my small rural school. You can choose between that day's item, a salad, or two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Pizza days were every Thursday. We'd have French Bread Pizza once a month on one of those Thursdays. There was also a salad bar with apple sauce, broccoli, carrots, peaches, pears, potato wedges, ranch cups.
Actually it’s very common for public schools to get flavored milk and mozerella sticks. I moved a lot and all of my schools had that as a requirement with meals. It might’ve just been your school to be honest..
@@dhvani221 I've been to 3 different schools and none of them had strawberry milk. They've all offered a choice between white and chocolate milk though. edit to add: there were multiple vending machines where you could buy whatever drink you wanted.
Chocolate milk, regular milk, and whatevee that day's fruit juice were our options. You also had options of a overly processed chicken burger, taco salad (mystery meat slop), cardboard pizza, and what ever was that day's special. Or if your parents gave you cash you could buy a Domino's pizza slice. People complained about homemade lunches, when I would have rather had those. School lunch was majorly sketchy. Those other girls' lunches actually looked really good. I would have totally preferred them.
All the public schools I've been to in my entire life had like four flavours of milk and as for all of the stuff she described in the video, she wasn't talking about anyone else's experience, in fact, she literally said "in my experience", she wasn't talking about your specific school, obviously she's gonna compare everything to what she had in school.
@@redinteractions5689 I've never seen more than two offered. Anything else you had to buy from a vending machine. Sounds like you went to some huge public schools or something
In America, I grew up with cardboard box pizza, processed food, and chalupa. I had meal tickets, but I didn't use half of them. If I had known any kids went to school without lunch, I would've donated to them all.
My mother made me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and milk. I ate about 3 or 4 sandwiches for lunch all through elementary and middle school. In high school I usually ate a ham, Turkey, or salami sandwich with water and an apple or banana. College I ate pizza, cereal, and pretty much anything I could get at the cafeteria on campus.
Do not speak for all Americans about everything, when I was in school, we have no processed food for lunch, our moms and grandmothers worked in the school cafeteria and made all our food by scratch.
I still wonder how the height of Americans is increasing even after eating burger pizza whereas the height of Indians is decreasing without eating much processed foods
@@itzAyush7z Diet in India sucks, yeah its not processed but its not healthy either. Most people consume about only 10-20 grams of protein every day. The main reason is that we are too poor to eat meat every day and protein supplements costs too much, our gdp per capita is ranked 120+, Americans eat processed food but still they achieve their daily protein requirement and we just cant. Indian dies being less processed still is way more unhealthy then USA diet. Indian 18 year old looks like 13 year old people in USA. Testosterone is also dropping amongst males due to lack of physical exercise and nutrition. TLDR : We are too poor to have a good balanced diet and we dont get much physical exercise. I am middle class and I can afford meat or protein supplements to eat daily. Still I am 5'8" a whole 3 inches taller than my dad.
Just for information in case needed. Curd or yogurt is a natural probiotic. Meaning it does the same work as yakult which is to help in digestion by containing or promoting growth of beneficial bacteria in body. Also if you have lactose intolerance then also you can take curd as it does not contain lactose, Becouse curd is formed after fermentation of milk by lactobacillus bacteria which converts lactose into lactic acid. Hope it helps....
I am glad that Escrow is promoting X:IN very well. Readys let's show lots of love to this video. Let's make it 1 million views. 300 likes thank you so much everyone. I am famous now 🤧
In my son's school for lunch they generally eat rice, dal (lentil) and vegetable as side dish. Sometimes accompanied by sweet. On occasion they eat vegetable fried rice / veg biriyani & ice cream. School avoids giving non-veg food like fish or chicken as there are many students whose families are completely vegetarian. However in government schools I heard it is mandatory to give egg at least one day and soyabeans.
In my school we had really wide variety of food in canteen and it was like heaven of snacks and u could get pretty much every snacks there (as non veg was not allowed maybe that's why). But i always used to pack my lunch and share with my friends and it mostly contained paratha and sabji. Actually sharing food and eating theirs is such a wholesome thing. 🤧
It very good to know each other cultures tradition foods. Food shareing started from our heart, that means we are able to share our thoughts and love, best communication.❤❤❤❤
My lunch box vegetable palau , palak chapati with vegetable sabzi, dosa with sambar and chutney, idly sambar, maggi, rati with different vegertable sabzi
Exactly. Indian School never give lunch. We all bring out lunchbox from home. Primary classes kids receive food from government mid day meal. There is no canteen in Indian School. I don't know which school she went in India.
@@aanchalaanchal6914 i don't even think she properly understood the assignment because while discussing the food she said "this meal is only served on special occasions"....
Iam proud of all these ladies and specially aria coz she is from neighbor country 😂❤ its not easy to sit in different and represent your culture beautifuly she was born for it💗
In government schools they provide foods that includes Some vegetables stew (as you guys call it curry) with rice , one day fish , Egg , and one day Chicken or sometimes Khichdi (vegetables, lentils and rice mixed together) .
Hands up to aria being Indian and eating so professional slowly with etiquette covering her face while chewing 🙌🏻 me being an Indian don't care about if it looks disgusting to others I just inhale it filling the plate till it's falling 😂
My school never allowed non veg. Papad would go soggy in lunch. Mine lunch box was paratha aachar aalu ka paratha is favorite, pulau, aalu toast, poha, idli, chilla, pasta few times.
For my elementary and middle school. Pizza and burgers were rarely served a of PB&J sandwiches. Turkey or ham sandwiches. Pasta (usually spaghetti, lasagna or ravioli). Salads with ranch or thousand island dressing. Chicken nuggets or fish sticks. Tacos sometimes nachos. Sides would be a variety of fruits. Applesauce or yogurts. Mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables. Milk was offered , we could have choice of one of three flavors. (Strawberry, chocolate or normal.) Along with a juice (flavors were apple, grape or orange) When it came to high school lunches at my school. We could walk off campus(until some dumb dumb messed up for all of us) but pizza and burgers were on the menu frequently along with nachos. Drinks went from simple options to a soda machine. Lemonade and the pink flavor were very popular surprisingly. You would think soda would be the go to at our age then. 😂😋 ( I live in Arizona, my school district number was 40 mat the time. Things could have changed now with so many more diet restrictions. 😅)
90s kid (haryana, India) I cant remember ever eating rice in lunch at school. 90% of the time i had dry sabjis like aloo gobi, bhindi, tindey, karela, paneer etc. with sada paratha or roti in my lunch box. on special occasions i 'd get to take maggi, sandwich for lunch, those were the best days 😅
being indian i really enjoyed watching this video and learning more about the korean and american lunches but i typically was happy that aria is explaining everything about biryani and there diffret types of it for me its most of the time roti or pasta or idli and taking biryani to school would be the best sitting with your freinds and eating biryani and raita thank u if you read through all of this bye
Biryani is something thats only for special occasions but yeah it's actually common in almost all states of India with their own recipies, for school lunch i think the most common would be roti/chapati with any sabzi, in our school it's mostly aalu Puri and veg pulao, but most of the students bring their own homemade lunch, its quite fun tasting different dishes as the students in our school are both from north and south...
As an INDIAN i am shocked to see.. An Indian speak all the three languages fluently.. While.. The American (only English) The Korean ( only Korean)... We are fast learners..
Funny.. You amusingly boast about your own country. Don't say nonsensical things. You live with an incredibly narrow perspective. This is a Korean program. They all live in Korea.
Are you deaf? They all speak Korean. What is your point? Is it that the Indian girl is the BEST AND SMARTEST OUT OF ALL OF THEM? That's nonsense. Settle down and do some research before you make false statements. Or you should just finish or rewatch the video and pay close attention! 😊
I am from North India, 90's kid. We had normal roti sabji/curries or parathas or bread and jam or khichadi for school lunch. Whatever was cooked in home for everyone, we take that to school, nothing fancy, no fruits, no nuts like today's kids. Fruits we used to pluck and eat from people's farms while coming to home. 🤣🤣
Thats the National Tiffin Box of India. Bread and Butter or Jam, Rotis and Sabjis and Noodles and Biscuits and sometimes Mithais. Why is she misrepresenting her country? Is she ashamed to show their culture fearing how westernees or Easterners will think
Aria mam iam proud to be we r all indians ,God bless u give long life ,I hope u got international popularity ,ND I hope u do it ,ok best keep ur work ,God give u a lots of grace ,❤❤❤❤❤❤
