Kashmir was ruled by Buddhists who willfully reverted to Islam and most of their Hindu and Buddhist subjects also accepted Islam. My perspective is that there are two possible explanations for the situation in Kashmir. Either Pakistan is sending trained personnel to Kashmir to divert attention from their own internal political crisis and focus it on India, or the Indian government is playing their own tactics as they knew they can't win in the upcoming elections so they are creating this chaos for nothing.
We can not ignore the ground realities in 21st century. The old orthodox type blame game on others for Kashmir unrest will not solve the situation anymore. Today world is more attentivly watching Kashmir, Kashmiris need the right of determination and the unrest or rebilion is outcome of what indian govt is doing through denial of that right.

Kashmir was brought into Sikh kingdom in 1819 from Afghan rule. Maharaja Ranjit Singh asked the Sikh army under General Hari Singh Nalwa to bring Kashmir into the Sikh empire upon request from the Kashmiri population. India destroyed all the sacrifices made by Sikh army in 1819 and have alienated the Kashmiri population since 1947. Now too much water has flowed under the bridge and Kashmir situation can never be brought back. Indian Kashmir is lost forever.
Just shut up man ! You are completely clueless. I was there in Kashmir last month. There is paramilitary presence everywhere but things are completely under control. The place was booming with tourists everywhere. There is also a lot of development work across the valley and Srinagar and its surroundings are extremely urbanised and heavily populated. The Kashmiris are not hostile towards Indians from other parts of the country but very nice and courteous and helpful. Right now there is no terrorism in Kashmir. What we are seeing recently are Pakistan origin terrorists causing problems in Jammu. That is because Modi while focusing on Kashmir has not paid attention to Jammu. As one local expert and author has said in an interview, people in Jammu look the same as Pakistanis across the border unlike Kashmiris who are different. As a result, Pakistanis from the other side can cross the border and come to Jammu and no one can make out if they are from Jammu or from across the border. This is what is happening right now. It is not local Jammu people but Pakistanis from across the border who are creating problems. Unfortunately, a lot of military personnel in the Jammu have been moved in recent years to Ladakh and other areas towards the Chinese border. All the problems are due to this neglect of security of Jammu by the Indian govt. However Kashmir is doing very well. Visit the place once and you will know.
