Abdullah Pender technically anything anyone wears is a kimono to the japanese because "kimono" literally translates to "thing to wear" However, it the context that kimonos are specific type of garment, men wear a type of robe, but it's not a kimono.

To put a kimono on you have to have like 5 - 10 people to get into one. Also they're SUPER expensive.

Abdullah Pender Well the Kimono people often refer to is the thick 3-5 layer kimono for the winter. The ones people read in manga and wear in the summer is Yukata which is only one layered. But out of the two genders, the lady's kimonos for both seasons are harder than mens. Unless the men has a hakama. The only problem is the tying bit.

+Ashley Johnson You should start by buying a cheap yet with beautiful designs since its your firt time, then try wearing it with a blouse (usualy its tailored, can be around 20$) or even sports bra, until you get the how to weat phase. Once you grasp the techniques, you can buy expensive ones with embroidery, mixed with many colors, and you can tailor your blous with different designs (the back is usually round shaped, but nowadays theres lots of designs, google sari blouse designs). Im south asian and im not so good at it, its pretty hard. Good luck ;)

My parents had 2 sons, my mom always wanted a daughter, as she couldnt get it, she used to dress me and brother in girl's clothes some times. I remember going to the photo studio with a frock. I cried a lot at that time, cause my younger brother got to wear a posh and modern frock while I got some traditional BS frock.

Ethan Reuben I'm not bothered by the subtitles at all. I have a friend who was born in China and lived there until she was 15. She understands English, but only in certain accents, namely American and Chinese accents. We went to school with a Latino guy at one point. He spoke English well, but she could never understand him because of his accent. I doubt she'd be able to understand these guys either. Hers is a problem that a lot of non-native English speakers have.

On this past Mother's Day, my family threw a party and my mum got really drunk so she ran to her room and when she came out she had a really long bedsheet and started to drape it around my stepdad's body and said "here, now you can shamelessly drag your saree across the dance floor". Wearing the heavily worked ones in India is definitely a headache. I prefer jeans. You need to get used to them. Its too damn hot here. Its even worse if you live near the coast.

I wore a saree ONCE for my school grad party with wore heels. I tripped over the saree eleven times in six hours and fell twice (I'm not used to fabric around my feet at all, I do not own a single maxi skirt). Never. Again.

+Mardas Man people get used to it and then just seemed to feel comfortable in it, my grandma only wears sarees no matter what other clothes we buy her. She simply got used it so much so she feels uncomfortable on anything else. So I think it's more a matter of habit and liking. I don't like wearing it either.

I love Indian accents. But sometimes they are very hard to understand. I worked in an Indian restaurant, with 90% of my co-workers being from India. So I've gotten use to the accent quite a bit. And Haitian accents too.

My fiance is from India and I can't wait to wear a saree. I think all that fabric would hide many imperfections on my body. I'd just be draped in cloth. No heels though...
