F-22 Super Raptor Episode: • The Super F-22 is Abso...
MERCH: task-purpose-shop.fourthwall....
India has started building up its navy and establishing bases further out to sea in a move to secure their maritime backyard. The Indian Ocean connects prime shipping routes and over 2.7 billion people live in the various countries surrounding it. Forty per cent of the world’s offshore oil production takes place in the Indian Ocean basin.
Yet despite the name, the Indian Ocean is one of China’s main geostrategic priorities and they appear to be making moves to box in and bypass India for decades as part of their Maritime Silk Road strategy. China’s Navy has recently made high profile maneuvers through the Indian Ocean with a submarine visit to Sri Lanka and then to Pakistan. The Chinese government and their officials stated the increased activity was about trade and security, not aimed towards their rival’s in India. However they did also say quote “the Indian Ocean is not India’s ocean”
India is aiming to change the state of play by building a true bluewater navy that can stand up to any opponent and project Indian power across the Indo-Pacific region. Indian Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Kumar announced the country plans to have a 175 ship navy by 2035 along with major upgrades to existing hulls. How can India modernize their naval power? What kind of ships is India building and what do they tell us of the country’s overall strategy? Hit the like button and join our Task & Purpose discord server if you haven’t yet. This is the story of the Indian Navy and what the future holds for one of the fastest growing naval forces on the planet.
The story of how india went from a buyers to a builders was not a simple a to b process.
The Indian Navy operates a unique mix of western, eastern, and indigenously designed equipment. Following India’s independence from British rule in 1947, the country operated mostly foreign vessels in its navy for much of the 20th Century. India had inherited two frigates and a few dozen smaller vessels from the UK, but also purchased or licensed from other nations over the following decades, including the Soviet Union. Despite close ties to the British Navy following almost a century of colonial rule, India didn’t want to get drawn into the superpower clash of the Cold War. This is because India believes in a policy known as “strategic autonomy,” what that means is they want to reserve the right to make their own decisions independent of external pressure.
According to this 30 page declassified CIA document from 1988 their analysis stated that following India’s independence India originally pursued a naval strategy that was mainly just diplomatic measures because they had yet to build up a large force. quote “New Delhi's Indian Ocean strategy centers on maritime defense and the assertion of its leadership over other regional states. It also includes supporting the internal stability of these states, protecting the interests of local Indian ethnic groups, and limiting-if not supplanting-foreign presences.” The document goes on to state that beginning in 1988 India started to modernize and expand their navy to actually start projecting power.

Might is right. White Christians invaded America, slaughtered 12+ Million native Americans, and created USA. It is still there. Remaining native people are all drunk or on drugs. Australia, New Zealand are the same way. So the question is, who is mightier? China is already far stronger than USA. India is no match. China will do what White Christians did before. If India wants to challenge China, India must become stronger. Zero chance of that.

It's worth noting that India has had at least one carrier in its fleet since 1961. They have decades of experience in carrier operations and fleet coordination that China simply lacks. That experience can't be learned in a few short years or stolen. Also, India has been strengthening diplomatic and military relationships with their neighbors in SE Asia, all of whom have their own critical interests in keeping China in check. China is encroaching on all its neighbors, and a strong coalition is the best defense.

The foundational cultures of Southeast Asia is very much Indian origin... Plus China is a massive trading nation, it'll be extremely unwise for China to try anything funny as the joke will be on them 😅 All it takes is that we stop buying from China - case close 🤷🏽‍♂️ We all can manufacture stuff on our own, who cares if it slightly more expensive... Glad to see Indias 🇮🇳 growth into a proper superpower. They will certainly get there. They are doing some amazing things. Great chess players, missions to the moon, and modernizing its military. I know there are a lot of Indians that are reluctant to cozy up to the West because of past colonial tensions. But I’ve always liked the Indian people and I’m glad to see them come up. I think we should have a strong friendship and alliance with India. But because India is cozy with Russia, I don’t think it will ever be a “nato” type relationship with the west. I have nothing against Russia. As a matter of fact I think it’s dumb the USA doesn’t pursue a friendship with Russia. Cold War mentality continues… Anyways, congrats to India on recent achievements 👍🏻

USA did get a lot closer with Russia under Yeltsin. Maybe it could have been done better but it was mainly Putin’s Cold War nostalgia and mafioso mindset that made him ratchet the tension back up. Most of us Russia fans were hugely disappointed with that decision.
@Wargasm54
@Wargasm54 28 дней назад
@@laulaja-7186 to be fair, we told Putin “no more eastward expansion “ and we kept expanding NATO right on Russias doorstep. There was no way Putin was going to let NATO get a foothold in Ukraine. Russia would then have NATO missiles 200 miles from Moscow. What do you think the USA would do if say Mexico or Canada got friendly with China and allowed China to build military bases in their country? Do you think America would allow that? No. We would not. And if it called for us to attack, we would. That being said, there was a deal on the table to keep Ukraine neutral while still allowing them into the EU and still be allied with the West without joining NATO. The USA and Britain told Ukraine to not take the deal. So Putin attacked. Can you blame him? Also, it’s a known fact we (the USA) had chemical research facilities in Ukraine. It was admitted to in Congress by Victoria Newland. Look, Putin may not be the greatest guy in the world. But we have relationships with other shady actors (Saudi Arabia for one). So there’s no reason we couldn’t be on friendly terms with Russia. I’d rather have Russia on our side as opposed to Russia being cozy with China.

The government asks us to avoid chinese made components and it's, at this point, impossible to make any PCB without chinese based chips. Yes some chips can be replaced by US/Japanese/European company designed IC's but still they are made in China. Also these low power processors (not the cutting age 3-4 nm one) which we put in drones, missiles and what not, are 95% made in China. Also their design chips are integrating AI and image processing and Linux compute all in a single $20 microchip. Which the USA will do at least for $100-200. When it comes to AI drone swarms China still has the clear advantage.

Well, if the current Indian semicon and electronics push is any indicator, India's traditional lack of a fab is about to change soon. Already multiple fabs have been announced. Tower semicon fab under process right now is actually for analog chips AFAIK. And Tata is already looking at 14 nm node. Adani meanwhile is taking care of some of the lower hanging fruit, like Silicon boules and wafers from them. That one IISc Professor has already laid all the groundwork for Gallium Nitride tech. And there was another working group that is taking on Silicon Carbide semicon. And then there is our obvious existing strength as a fabless chip-design firms. And finally, Government is already investing in emerging tech like Photonics. Yeah, things could be better, but our start over the past 5-6 years alone has been phenomenal. Also, most strategic projects like ISRO rockets, Nuclear ICBMs and Nuclear Reactors that India makes use Indian-designed Microprocessors that are built within India at the SCL lab in Chandigarh. Ofcourse relying on a 180 nm node and such a small fab is an obvious bottleneck.

India had one of the first and largest navies the world ever saw. The Cholas had the strongest Navy from 900 AD to 1300 AD. They ruled all the way from South India to South East Asia. When the Brits came to India they had a ship life span of only 10 years whereas Bengali ships were bigger and had a lifespan of 20 years. So, India has a long , prestigious and glorious Naval history which China can't match. Plus Indian Navy regularly conducts anti piracy operations through which it has reduced hundreds of crew from pirates.

There are two factors that need to be accounted for when assessing India’s ability to resist Chinese aggression. One is how India and China define their strategic goals and what they see as necessary to ensure their security. For instance, if India does not perceive its security to include locations that are beyond the Indian Ocean region and has stable borders with its neighbors, then that changes its calculations regarding its military necessities. The second factor pertains to the number of other security threats the two countries have. China and India both have multiple security threats that force limited resources to be divided and allocated to meet these challenges. This means that while China has clear advantages in certain areas, these are offset by its substantial geographic disadvantage vis-à-vis India. Jai hind 🇮🇳

Okay let me get this straight: the reason for Indian warships to be lightly armed despite their displacement is because of our goals Indian Navy is a defensive Navy and does not need to leave the country vicinity like usa or china to project power but instead protect its coastline and maritime security...also the 16 brahmos missile that these destroyers carry are...huge! And very capable and lethal So ya they are about 2 times that of tomahawk missiles used by American warships so yes you get the point...but soon it's gonna change the upcoming frigate class (nilgiri class frigates) are as armed as current largest destroyers in the Indian Navy and are literally having around the same displacement as current destroyers....so upcoming destroyers are gonna be huge too and will pack a huge puch...more like offensive role like arleigh Burke class like proper blue water navy projecting power far from home...and etc they are expected to have a displacement of 9000+ tons basically almost cruiser category now and will probably have a lot of armaments and vls ..now so you can see where this all is headed...we are peaceful country and have no first strike policy but It doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to project power to the enemy's backyard right? Oh boi this is long anyways..not to mention upcoming aircraft carriers and submarines and a indigenous carrier brone fighter tedbf also amca carrier version which will replace mig29k and probably be back bone of Indian Naval Air power ❤❤

@arpanabinaswar1811 28 дней назад
14:17 I would like to add that more VLS Will be added the Project 15A , 15B on midlife refit. At the time of their construction many missiles systems were not developed hence Indian Navy decided to add these systems later while refit. For example VL-Astra missiles will be added on them for short range air defence , SMART ( Supersonic Missile Assisted Release of Torpedo ) missiles which can deliver Torpedos to range of 640-700kms will be added too which are now in final phases of Trails , Brahmos 2 ( Actually you are wrong Brahmos 2 will be derived from Technology developed in Indias HSTDV programmes which has been tested ) , DRDO is Also Working on DEW to be intergrated on board Project 18 Destoryers ( As per initial Leaks planned to have 144 / 128 VLS ) and also will be integrated on other warships

@user-qx9bt9tr6t 26 дней назад
@@ZAR556 That is definitely one possibility. Power definitely tends to corrupt or at least bring in arrogance. However, what I believe is that with the current international laws of the modern day, in either your or my lifetime, Indians probably will not grow that attitude and India itself probably may not behave such in this phase. We do not need to care for what happens after we die. Now you may think China did the same, then it is not the Chinese people but Jinping specifically and China being authoritarian means that the evil leaders do not get swapped out fast. But India is a democracy. Unless they fall to authoritarianism and dictatorship, like Russia or China, this probably would not happen soon. One thing I must note is to grow and maintain power, you need to share it and have good relations and diplomacy with the other players (much like among packs of animals in the jungle). So, power is just an illusion brought about by chest-thumping and absolute power does not exist. No country today (or at any time in the past) has enough land and resource and potential and safety to just exist in isolation whilst bullying everyone else for their own benefit; there are always tight threats.

On thing the US figured out when it comes to carrier groups is the three-ship rotation. If you want to have a Carrier group deployed away from easy access to your own coast, and you want to be able to keep it on-station all year round, for as long as you want, it take three carriers: One on station, one transiting to or from the duty location, and one undergoing repairs. Having three carrier groups would give India the bare minimum it would need to deploy a single group to a location away from their coastal waters, and keep it there year-round if they needed to. Now, I'm not sure if they have the logistical component to make that happen, but three ships would at least give them the hulls. This is almost certainly is NOT the primary reason for building up three carrier groups, but it would be a new capability that having three carriers would give them.
