As Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks a rare third term in power, CNA travelled to Agra, situated in the western part of Uttar Pradesh state, to find out if his marquee “Make in India” initiative is a hit or miss among voters going to the polls this week. Small business owners there said that they feel mostly cut off from the scheme. CNA’s Ishan Garg reports.

Don't be so critical and negative. This initiative will take some time to accelerate. Previous governments did not invest in 'make in India like the current government. Even China struggled for decades before experiencing economic boom. There is no country in the world that is perfect.

Well we must say some of Indian handicrafts or products have really good quality far better than most expensive brands today while it’s very rare to find them even Indian can’t find ones easily cause that craftsmanship is been depleting and very difficult to learn and future generations are leaning towards modern western style and void of original quality products filled by modern fake artists. Let’s hope we could see the organic and originality and actually authentic availability of these made in india products.

Modi's make in India scheme is flawed. It assumes giving subsidies to large corporations will automatically increase job growth and economic development. But these companies hire workers on a contract basis to keep wages low. So while the companies and people at the top profit, those at the bottom continue to remain poor. India needs to update its labor laws and make sure the money flows down.

@@moonknight3594 This is the argument TATA, Ambanis and Adanis would make. But that logic is not reflected in the poor job growth numbers. Let me put it to you this way, if people had better wages, they would spend more. Factories would then need to expand and hire more people to produce more. Also, more people would open up services to cater to this population. With India's current economic model, we can only see these rich corporations increase their holdings in offshore accounts.

leather not required, shoes can be made from plant , cotton and wollen fibres. they are better on your feet , flexible and breathe well. the only non textile thing required is the sole and materials for frame support.
