This is why people like watching her. She always says the right thing, doesn't get baited into questions or debates. And always willing to accept feedback and be willing to be coached. Never throws anyone under the bus. Amazing at 22, she is this good speaking to media day in and day out.
@snave59 Even with the carter play all she said was it was not a basketball play, then later says, hey it's basketball and we all play hard and want to win. And brsiged it off.
After all the hype I finally watched her post-game after my Huskers beat Iowa and it seemed unreal that she wasn't the coach.. She is not pretending to be unaware of her impact on her team and women's basketball. She could be a top flight coach today. Smart, balanced and nearly unshakable.
Caitlin - keep staying focused on the game. Your ability to handle drama questions is so professional. Let your dedication, and skill, speak for itself. We love you CC.
Like it or not, Clark is "into culture war crap" just as much as the rest. Neutrality/non-intervention in a war is a position and has repercussions just like taking sides does.
@@LorenzoCVB She’s a basketball player, not a political commentator give it a rest … maybe in 20 years you’ll understand what and why she’s still being the way she is
What a class act. You won't see her slamming competitors to the ground, exaggerating and mocking someone she fouls. Posting her jealousy for other players on the internet. The media are starving, trying to get nastiness out of her. They probably will never get what they want. She rises above focuses on the game only, and has no clue that the integrity she has , makes her haters look so small. Humbleness is a rare virtue, but doesn't it look great on Caitlyn?!!
I think people expect CC will breakdown. CC is a kind person. That’s who she is. CC isn’t a rookie dealing with the media. She’s been dealing with media for a long time. Go Indiana Fever
That reporter was no better than what his questions were about. Like, knock it off! I just love her! She is professional, smart, classy, and just overall amazing! Im just so impressed, and so proud of her everytime she talks!
The way she has handled the pressure and attention over the last few years is nothing short of remarkable. Kudos to her and her support group. I don't think I would handle it so well. Proud of you CC!
CC shows she's popular for more than just basketball skills. She keeps her responses positive, uplifting and totally away from controversy. She participated in a "Habitat for Humanity" project the other day and gives back to the community. Great role model for anyone.
She's 4th in the league in assists per game with only 2 persons in the whole league having more total assists. most 3pt field goals made in the league while shooting from deep. 13th in the league in scoring everyone above her except 1 has taken more shots and everyone certainly has played more minutes. She's top 10 in total steals.3rd amongst guards in total rebounds by a hair with those above her playing more minutes. 2nd in total rebounds amongst guards whist being face guarded picked up full court 94ft double teamed triple teamed media attention scrutiny directly of consecutive championship game college runs
I seen some controversial stuff, the coach probably shouldn't and say they awoken a beast when that was a personal convo and cc made light that it could be motivating. she makes some interesting subs even last game cc was playing okay they were getting beat subs cc puts in lexie she starts playing well subs her and puts back cc. subbing lexie is what you don't do short or long term you want your bench to be confident so your starters work their tails off. you put cc in the game leave lexie in and sub the other player short long term gain and confidence within your whole team. if you want to give a player playing well a breather, use a timeout
She’s great. But she’s got to do a better job protecting the ball. To many turnovers. But she’ll get better over time, Plus she’s often double teemed which makes her job harder.
@@MsRotorwings most of those turnovers come from her coach telling her she only has 1.5 seconds to make a decision the other half come from her teammates that can't catch the ball.
Some of these questions are leading and should be shut down. Limit her availability. That one jackass needs to be quiet. Enough is enough. Also give the coach some PR lessons. She has to stop throwning the players under the bus.
This is a young coach too - she is going to grow. I do not agree with the comments that she does not have Caitlin’s back - I think she wants to keep Caitlin focused on playing basketball and given the whirlwind start to the season and the crazy attention and noise, I think the coach staying focused on getting better has been tremendous. I think Sides is hard nosed even if the team defensively is not yet there. I did not realize that the Aces are only 5-5 (the Fever has played many more games in a shorter period of time and is coming off a season where they were the worst team in the league). Things could turn around faster than you think. Boston is not playing to her potential, Caitlin is not yet where she will be and they have a key injury. I expect them to get better.
@@TruthMatters22 Two things I agree with.Boston,is definitely not playing to her potential, for being a number 1 overall pick. They do have a key injury.Temi Fagbenle
I know CC likes to take the high road, and that is great. But what I see is a coach that is way over head. She’s thrown the team under the bus ( and CC specifically) and I don’t j is his that builds trust and confidence.
I watch all this drama from Scotland, can’t believe such a great young woman, who only says positive things gets such negative questions, the media should leave all the gossip to the side, it’s the media that are creating all this negativity, I’m rooting for the girls on the Fever team❤
Whatever the source of the apparent resentment some other WNBA players have of her, the best way for her to ease that resentment and tension is not by trying to make some profound political, cultural statement, but rather to help bring her diverse team together to play beautiful basketball and get some more wins. There are players on The Fever that get that, including Wheeler and especially Fagbenle. When Fagbenle returns, we will see more of that telepathic connection she and Clark have. That's what it's all about: Working together and sharing the glory.
At 22 she has more self control than i do because in EVERY interview she says the SAME thing. She doesnt engage or listen to the outside noise, shes here to play and yet they still ask her over and over again..in the SAME interview. I could never.
Stupid media and their manufactured controversies. Caitlin, as usual, is a gem. Focused, clear, respectful, and refusing to be pulled into the bs. Always enjoy hearing her perspective. Sides seem a little humbled today and not so ready to trash the team, which feels good. Really hope they regroup and have a good game tonight.
I’m glad they are playing and seeing Caitlin Clark makes me happy and she is beautiful like always and I rlly like her and I’ll never stop and I know she will be amazing again bc she is the best and I love her to death and she is the best and I have a huge crush on her and I hope I can meet her someday to show her how much I love her and she is the best!!
Good s usual. The whole Fever team has a lot of pressure and they remain a class act. Will be watching win or lose. They will be up and coming over next couple of years.
Yes he is a clown. It's call "yellow Journalism." It's what journalists are taught. My minor in my undergrad degree was Journalism and I remember the campus paper editor was always trying to push me to spin stories in a negative and nasty way. Clark does handle it well. If she stopped interviews they would fine her. Sad. She keeps saying it's job to do on the floor and they want to do...enough said.
Class act! Can't wait for Temi to get back!! I hope Nalyssa shows up on court today after a 2 point game, going to the SKY game, and not supporting her teammates on social media...we need way more ball movements. There should be a rule: everyone needs at least 2+ assists per game, and at least 15+ total. At this point, watch the Mystics.
Her energy seems kinda down. Maybe she’s just like “really I’m having to answer these same drama questions again…” Honestly can we stop bothering her so much about the media shit? It’s HARD to tune that shit out and Caitlin is doing her best, but she’s being forced to put her attention back on it every time shes forced to talk to the media. If she gets off her game because of that then viewers won’t be happy. It’s in the medias best interest to help her out so she can keep being awesome!! Long term thinking people
The reporters really try to get these ladies to loose focus, pit them against each other or get them to say something crazy. It’s wild! She told him no 3 times! I’m not a CC fan but come on!
Why aren’t you a Caitlin fan. She is a great role model and when she gets in her groove, exciting to watch. You have not seen anything yet. And this league is so talented, there will be great rivalries developed if it is focused on basketball and not extra curricular activities on or off the court that have nothing to do with playing basketball. Everyone take the high road and play basketball.
@@TruthMatters22I don’t hate the girl and she’s a good ball player but she’s not my favorite.🤷🏽♀️ Everyone doesn’t have to be a fan of everything or everyone.
The two women who seem to support Caitlin who are getting buried on the bench are Lexi Hull & Celeste Taylor, thanks Christie Sides you're a wonderful coach 😱
Coach Sides looks rough! Listen to her. She just admitted that she’s playing the same strategy as last year! WTH you have to change what you’re doing when your personal changes.
If the media would just do their job and not contribute to the nonsense, these basketball players would respect them and give heart-felt responses to their questions.
I wish theyd point out that it was only an 8 point game against Connecticut with 3 minutes to the end of 2nd half -- and then at the half it was a 20 point game and then four starters were benched the rest of the game shortly after 3rd Q started ... Like how does this keep happening (large slip away of the games) and always so quickly? What plays, what screens, what strategy can they do to work against this.
Coach sides man I want to like her but she should be ushering in a new style of play into the W. Not forcing how you want things to go. She’s got a unique player, take the handcuffs off of her!
Caitlin understands perfectly well how lucky she is to be on this team, with this coach, and that there couldn’t be a better adaptation school for her, having met other teams in person. Indiana Fever is her home, there is no need to look for another! They will release so many fireworks this season!!!
Sides STILL hasn't created a screen play to free CC22 space to shoot. A high post A.Boston can screen CC22's left side, then roll towards the basket for a surgical pass or rebound.
As always, Caitlin handled the questions very well. There were a couple of comments by Coach Sides that I found concerning: 1. Where she said the priorities were to work hard and be tough, and 2. Where she said they were going to keep with last year's strategies. On #1, I world have preferred hearing her say something about playing smart, learning to adapt on the fly to whatever your opponents approach is. I think hard work should be a given for anyone wanting to be in the pros. 2. Last year's strategies did not exactly lead to a winning season. Maybe Coach should think about creative new ideas to take advantage of this year's mix of players.
The Media is really trying to make everything negative. Love CC keeping good boundaries with reporters and hoping Temi heals up, miss seeing her spirit on the court.
I didn't mind that reporters particular questions ... have to admit I wish she would say something vaguely inspiring and unifying about being appreciative of all the different players of different back grounds and their talent and watching and being a part of the W as it continues to grow - something to disassociate herself from the divisive racially/sexuality charged words and prejudices and/or implicit biases people take on in her name that gets attached to her brand and is just gross ... Signed an Iowa native/grad and now newbie Fever Fan.
I was hoping the same. I know ppl say she is taking the high road by burying her face in the sand, but I don’t see it that way. Could have easily said “I don’t condone any of those negative behaviors done in my name”. I support my colleagues and welcome the competition. I also understand that she is 22 and wants to just hoop. 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
@@AmourThink79 - Exactly ... But, as a 22YO, I wanted her to stay away from "condoning" but instead expressing positive support of all different people of different backgrounds who built the leagues and are currently on the teams ... But basically, I think you and I are thinking similarly : )
Also Nalyssa Smith purposely tanked and scored only 2 points against the Connecticut Suns there are too many fake players on this team that need to be let go
Sorry coach but its your job to prepare this squad for the game ahead... Not sit back and give them years to learn it on their own or to become best buddies off the court so they pass the ball on the court!!! Its fundamental basketball... Coach that!!! Fundamental basketball works!
Sides needs to be replaced. She insists on trying to make last year's offense with Caitlin. She just admitted she is using last year's offense this year which now makes so much sense on why it's so bad. It also makes since why Cailin brings ball up, passes it to one of the 3 (Kelsey, Boston, Wheeler and Smith) and then never see ball back again as they run last year's offense.
Young/early in the season???? YOUR SEASON IS 33% OVER!!!!!! This coach is clueless!!!! Trying to force post play ISN'T WORKING!!!!! Boston keeps ignoring her teammates and forcing up a garbage shot in double/triple coverage!!!! She refuses to pass out to the open shooter!!!!!
How go you build confidence in the team if you pull your starters in the 3rd quarter and bench them, instead of adjusting and drawing up new plays? How do you build confidence if you throw your players under the bus every chance you get, instead of taking accountability as a coach? Sides has never been a HC and it shows. CC is way too gracious.
