@jlecampana Since when is having a difference of opinion lying? Look, man, you're welcome to your opinion. Don't begrudge me mine. I liked most of the movie, and called out the parts I thought were bad. I think that's pretty fair.
I was very curious about your opinion. As others have already stated, your love of adventure in all forms is clear and I felt you could give a fresh take. Comparing your review about this movie with the ones I've already seen(regardless of the final opinion of the reviews I've watched), I think they all have the same spirit. Lots of sighing, disappointed tones, and hesitation. A vastly different spirit than what I felt when I watched the original trilogy. I felt exuberance, thrill, wonder, etc... and those feelings still linger! My thirst for adventure was birthed and given its identity during the first viewing of those movies. I rate everything I experience in entertainment based on the spirit I found in those movies. While there were flashes of that spirit in KOTCS, I didn't come away from that movie feeling anywhere close to what I felt in the originals. I was greatly disappointed. Based on the spirit of the reviewers I'm seeing for Dial of Destiny, even the ones who liked the movie, I don't think I'm going to have the heart to watch it. It's not the spirit I want from a moviegoing experience that bears the name of my favorite legend.
I was also disappointed when I walked out of Crystal Skull. In comparison, I was happier with Dial of Destiny, but if they had stuck the landing, I would have been over the moon. That's the most frustrating thing -- this was close to being outstanding.
Ive been looking forward to your take on this since you are obviously a fan and you are pretty fair with your praise or criticism for a movie or show. Ive seen alot of reviews already. Im curious to hear your breakdown. I do think some reviewers are probably being too harsh but on the flip side it seems like there were alot of girl boss moments. I dont like that they always have to tear down our legacy characters to build up the new ones. Its been a trend lately.
Thanks! Honestly, I didn't see the "boss babe" thing in this. I'm digging into this in my next video, but I kinda feel like there's some overreaction going on. Don't get me wrong, I hate that hollywood writers think tearing men down is the way to make "stong, empowered women," but I didn't see that here.
Great video! I agree, the first 90 % was verging on greatness. the ending didn't bother me a huge amount, but i totally see your point. Awesome review man!
Thanks! 👍 It didn't bother me much at first. The more I think about it, the more it annoys me, but I'm trying to focus on the whole, not just the negatives.
Really cool new video mate ! Can't wait to hear your full review on the film. Personnaly, I enjoyed the film. It is far from perfect, and it never reach the quality of the trilogy, but it didn't ruins the serie for me.
I'll admit, I'm a bit conflicted about it. I do want to emphasize that there's a lot of good stuff in the movie, but the Stephen King ending is definitely a downer. 🫤
This is just a opinion on how he feels about it. Don't take someone's opinion for your own. Go and watch the movie for yourself and then make your own judgment. Don't base your judgment based on somebody else's views
I've been waiting for your review since both the anti-Lucasfilm and Indy-worshippers are claiming they were right. I'm looking forward to hearing your more in-depth review. Personally, I'll probably wait to see it on Disney+, since it's 2.5 hours long, and I doubt it doesn't drag in the middle.
That is curious, isn't it? I'm talking more about this in the next one, because, I'm sorry, but both sides can't claim victory. I do still think it's worth seeing. I didn't feel like it dragged in the middle... If anything, it slows down right after the intro (which is traditionally when the Indy movies give exposition and set up the plot).
Opinions do change, certainly, and mine are no exception. To be honest, if the rest of the movie was bad, I probably wouldn't have felt disappointed... But the rest of the movie was quite good, and as a result, that moment felt like a letdown. I still like it overall, and I'm still going to see it again, but I do wish that part had been handled differently.
