@@MoreMeetArthur I wonder what you would think of King Crimson's "Starless" from their album "Red". It's a long piece with lots of interesting bits to keep the guitarist and drummer interested! ;)

I've seen Pink Floyd four times in three different decades. In 1974 " Dark Side of The Moon" tour, 1977 "In The Flesh" tour, 87 "Momentary Lapse of Reason" tour & the 1994 Pulse concert!! You mentioned drugs. In 77 during the In the flesh tour concert my wife and I were walking up a ramp into the Colosseum in Phoenix Arizona and two girls we're walking next to us and giggling and bragging about having taken acid. I was a bit taken aback because I knew what Pink Floyd was going to do in their concert and these girls were saying we're going to hear money!! I said have you seen these guys before? They said no this is our first concert which shocked me a bit and I said good luck!! During that concert they played all of "wish you were here" took a short break played all of "Animals' left the stage and played half of "Dark side of the Moon" for the encore. They were playing the song"Welcome to the Machine" with a really weird movie playing behind them and when they hit a huge note on the huge circular screen a red ocean turned into faces and hands reaching for the sky and screaming I saw something disappear from my peripheral vision. I looked closer and it was the two girls with one swatting something in the air that was not there and the other in a fetal position on the floor!! Either security or paramedics came in and hauled them out. The concert was so intense I saw at least a dozen other people get hauled out. Probably the most intense and greatest concert I've ever seen and I've seen about 100 in my life from ACDC to led Zeppelin and everyone in between alphabetically. Every time my wife and I drove home after a Pink Floyd concert we never said a word because we were usually blown away and in shock!!! Keep going and having fun and you'll hit a thousand before you know it!!

Blue Toolbox!! And I agree, have prob listened to this album 1000 times over the years. I became enlightened to Pink Floyd in the late 70’s and pretty much listen to Floyd every day of my life. I’m never not affected by their music. Animals may by my fav album, but no denying their 7 album run from Atom Heart Mother (1970) to The Wall (1979) is the greatest decade for one band in history, including the Beatles. Sure I’ll get pushback on that, but to me, they stand alone in terms of both the output and the quality. Plus, they continued to tour throughout the entire period! DSOTM is their Magnus Opus and I also agree it is the greatest album of all time! Not even close! Btw, I own 7 copies of DSOTM in various formats including a live version from 1974 @ Wembley Station. Overall I think I have over 60 albums, CD’s, a box set and a number of bootlegs and other recordings. Check out their 1975 concert from Hamilton, Ontario Canada if you want to hear a great live event, which included Dark Side in its entirety! Great job guys!

Roger Waters lyrics are what makes the album along with the whole band doing their bit to complete this masterpiece. I seen Floyd twice The Wall and without Roger. Since I have seen Roger 5 times amazing the man still has things to say

finally as most of the musical genius flowed through Gilmour and Wright, and Wright is no longer with us, I'm sure you know David is still going strong. One of his children is quite talented too, as in the following home movies he shot during covid lockdowns: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dGdEe8yp2TI.html ( David Gilmour with Romany Gilmour - Yes, I Have Ghosts (Von Trapped Series) ) And then this photo album showing the incredible likeness between Romany and a young David: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T_gQ_D5yhAE.html (David Gilmour and Romany Gilmour - Kokineli) Can you imagine having David Gilmour as your dad and music teacher?

Actually the synth sounds were not as complicated as you believe. Watch the documentary about the album by the band, where David, Roger and Rick show you how it was done. And you cannot forget the engineering mastery was via Alan Parsons.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jUBnS5G34IM.html ( PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD ) The big difference between then and now, is then it was all analogue synthesizers, no digital crap, or sampling bullchips. Roger describes how he made the rhythm track in the above documentary for Money using mics, props and a 2 track tape recorder, splicing tapes together and running them in a loop on mic stands.

This album gives me goosebumps. You used the word atmosphere and that is exactly right, that kind of blissful feeling you get with some music - a more recent example of a band would be the Black Keys for me. I love all their albums but the atmosphere in the song Weight Of Love from from the Turn Blue album just gives me those goosebumps every time. Would love to hear you react to any of their albums but particularly Brothers! Keep up the good work chaps, your channel is brilliant 👏

I’m here for it lads, I’m a music fan. I recognise your talent for dissecting tunes but also your reactions remind of my own where you just get that intangible warm buzz from music - that buzz cannot be replicated through any other art form! On a personal note, I hated the stick you got for the Sultans of swing reaction. Totally underserved, especially considering your final verdict! I’m not old enough to have been around for the Dire Straits hay day - there is a nostalgia cos of my old man but I understood the points you were making re the drumming. Dire straits are also a bit cheesy for me, the lyrics are corny and not my kind of thing but they’re undoubtedly awesome musicians. The point is music is subjective and therefore divisive so please don’t let people put you off doing this cos I think your channel is awesome and it’s become a staple in my RU-vid diet. Once I get my boy to bed, I look forward to your videos 👍👌

@@ryanodonnell533 Really appreciate that Ryan! Yeah we were a bit shocked at some of the replies on that one specifically me (Micky). We had around 3 comments telling me K*** Myself which we reported and after reviewing the video I have absolutely no clue why people got THAT annoyed! There were a few constructive comments saying the way I delivered my opinion came across as judgmental which I have fully taken on board for future videos - As you can see by the clothes in this video and that video we do film these back to back after a full studio day and going from a 2 hour shoot for this in to Dire Straits (Who surprise i'm not huge on) I just didn't get it to it as much as I usually do. Again, will make sure to be more up beat and more thoughtful about how I speak going forward.... however the comments on that video are insane! Told to give up many times, few commenting on my weight and the way I look all for saying think the drummer done a couple too many fills haha! It's people like you why we haven't let it phase us and we will continue to make these videos! Thanks man!

I’m sorry to hear that mate - people who make those sorts of comments have obviously got something missing in their own lives so just ignore them. It’s pathetic. I don’t think you need to take anything on board or adjust your thinking - it’s an honest reaction! I remember your boat race when the drums kick in for the chorus in Split Screen, it was exactly the same as mine - pure enjoyment! That’s what we want! Actual reactions - good or bad! I’m probably an intermediate guitar player and you guys have got me thinking and appreciating on a different level

Have a look at 'Echoes' Part One from Pompeii 1972 if you want to hear the greatest groove ever played.
@robm9999
@robm9999 Месяц назад
Agreed, but you have to watch Part 1 and 2 together to get the full impact of that performance. The call and response between David and Richard, coupled with Nick’s brilliant and powerful drumming, AND the greatest and grooviest bass line from Roger, the whole performance reinforced the fact that at one point in time, musical GODS did walk among us! And to do that at Pompeii, all the more legendary and magical.

@@MoreMeetArthur e tagliate proprio l'inizio ? Andate a raccontarlo a qualcun'altro.
