Thank you for starting the video with that busted IQ study. So true. It’s clear that cats mimic our energy. My Honey wasn’t a natural snuggle bug, but she’s more affectionate now basically by osmosis. Now to teach her to be more active by example.💛
Glad it was helpful! I like providing some context to my videos I believe that everything makes more sense when you share more than just the steps to achieve things. I'm glad you appreciate it as well (It's also a lot more fun to do videos like this hehe)
27😮 and she's just 50% Bengal. But she shivers when I take her outside yet very curious. Maybe I introduced outdoor in a wrong way, not sure how to approach this matter
My cat seemed to flinch often when I first brought her home. She loves going out into the backyard and hunting butterflies or whatever 😸 However, the house where I am has a very busy road in front of it, I've noticed with cats over the years that if they were too fearless, there was a good chance they'd become victims of the road (my dad was old school, cats were never allowed indoors). However, cats that were more cautious didn't become a victim of the road. Now, since my father passed away, the cat is inside, especially at night, but she loves snooping around in the garden!
@@OutdoorBengal Very interesting! I guess the one thing you've got to keep an eye on with indoor cats is not to feed them too much. My kitty thinks everyone should be feeding her!
Hi Albert. Happy to see another upload from you. Quick question. How was Mia when she first came home? I just got a kitten 2 days ago. She has been hiding under the bed since she came home. Does this mean she's destined to be a shy cat? She's an Abyssinian btw
Hello! it doesn't mean anything. It's an stressful period and doing the right steps will determine how fast and comfortable they addapt to the new lifestyle. You should totally watch this video about what to do when a cat's first comes home with us. I'm sure it will help! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_kzEBir6M9E.html
hi! my cat tubb is not a year old yet and in the mornings around 4-5 am he wakes up and likes to purposely try to ruin my blinds and knock things over until i get up, he’s already broken a decent amount of the blinds LOL do you have any suggestions of how to train him to stop doing this?
hey! I have a full video talking abou how to get cats to sleep through the night: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-95F_4Qi586A.html but your problem is about the destructive behavior... All the cat is doing is trying to get your attention. Ignoring them is the only way to get them out of it. Otherwise, you are reinforcing the behavior (when I break stuff, they wake up) They do not understand that break is bad, they only know that certain things work and certain don't, and keep doing those that work. Catify your home, particularly when going to bed. Make sure that there's nothing to be dropped on the floor or breakable. With time, they will get out of it. Routine also helps get them used to waiting for a certain time (always always always wake up at the same time)
@@OutdoorBengal would allowing him to continue to break the blinds (as apart of ignoring him) teach him that it’s ok or is that more of just teaching him that i will not get up if he continues to bother me
Ours has started trying to get outside. Unfortunately we have resident redwinged hawks preying on large bunnies close to the size of my petite cat. If not the hawks during the day, it would be the great horned owls at night.
I must say I already sensed the results but Emma took The test: she got 25!!!😂 A supervisior of mostly everything and everyone, she’s never not in the mood for playing and ultimately pretty much into zoomie activity! My mom says I should have asked you before buying Emma a rabbit fur toy because according to her “it encourages her savage instincts” (I’m literally crying 😂😂🤦🏻♀️). Also she’s developing a romantic relationship w/her hammock/shelve in The window, Mia would love it 😉
Brrooo you dont how much u helped me with this video no one believes me that i can take my cat out now i will do the test and start his leash training again last time we were out he almost escaped this time the training is gonna be done good thanks
@@OutdoorBengal hey man can u tell me some good escape proof harness because i live in kuwait here we dont have amazon and no pet store has a escape proof harness idk what to do
I very much enjoy watching your content. Thank you for the time you (and Mia) put into creating such entertainment and advice etc. P.s. I'll be getting a kitten soon and your training tips are very useful to prepare for our future adventures!
1) CURIOUS? strongly yes, we invited 5 people we were all 7 and Molson was like sleeping on the couch getting affection of everyone in few minutes. They stayed here for 5 to 6 hours , and they were gone, Molson was with so much energy that start running and playing with us 2. ....strongly yes , grocery in, Molson is checking the packages ...We have build around our build, he stares to the balcony sometimes but there is nothing attractive to been seen there actually .. when I take him to try to walk in my floor hallway I get him up to the window and he sniffs and look at my his reflection lol 2) Door dashing? Don't know yet. We are daily opening the door to our floor hallway. He goes to the door edge and stares outside curious. If people appears, doors open, elevator noise he is afraid. Eventually when he gets more comfortable I start walking and he follows me, I can play with him too and he runs happy. It is a working in progress. I leave the door open so he can go back inside when something new happen 3) cat energic? So damn yes. We play with him during the evening and during lunch break and before his feeding time. He is getting more and more energic, now climbing higher spots, playing the the plants. He loves padling, cuddling, and taking a nap on our legs after eating.
Thank You! Our kitty Lotus is a 21 on your scoring. I am working with her to possibly become a therapy cat to visit senior homes. So far she is very positive with people she doesn't know and her harness walks outside. Perhaps more adventures for us ahead!
@@OutdoorBengal thank you for your comment! To answer your question, we are in the process of having Lotus qualify to do visits to senior homes. I'm in the US and it is not unusual to have certified therapy animals visit hospitals or senior homes, but most need to pass a handling certification test as well as veterinary records. So far, Lotus is enjoying the process which is the most important thing to me. ☺️
Great video, my kitten's definitely an adventure cat. She loves playtime, greets us when we get home and is a serial door dasher (luckily only into the backyard and not the front of our house where there is a road and people walking their dogs!). Any tips on getting your cat to "Stay"? My kitten obeys the Stay command in the house, so I know she knows the command. I get her to Sit and Stay before I open the sliding door to the backyard. But as soon as the sliding door is wide enough for her to squeeze through, she dashes into the backyard.
Hey! This is common. Get her to sit at a distance enough so that you can close the door again as soon as she starts moving. Open and close the door for as long as it takes for her to understand that you are not going to allow the behavior. Once she stays, click and reward. (don't let her out still, you reward her with treats for staying put) with time, you'll see that the behavior improves.
Hey Albert, I recently adopted a kitty (he just turned 6 months). I have been clicker training him to sit, give me his paw and pull both his paws up and it’s been great. I also immediately put a harness on him to get him used to it. I have been wanting to take him outside and we have managed to go in our patio and a little on the sidewalk but whenever there is a car he is definitely very scared and tried to run away. I can tell he is curious because he tries to pounce at birds and squirrels and sniffs every plant he can see. We definitely enjoy sitting on the patio together a lot (he will definitely always sit in my lap if he has the choice) and it’s been great. I don’t know how to get him used to the outdoor sounds more. I have been using some treats as well to get him to follow me but he’s still scared… I want to be able to take him places more freely so that he can have some outdoor time and explore more. Do you have suggestions? Sorry for the long message hahah!
Hey! Thanks for the note. It's all about moving slowly but surely. It's called desensitization. Repetition without consequences leads to comfort when facing a certain stimuli. Try to avoid negative experiences, be brief and always end on a high note. Time and repetition will do the rest.
I started training Mia when she was 12weeks old. I started with some easy tricks like come when called and finger targetting and got to more complex tricks once she was comfortable with those. You can find more about it in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YxxCqtJ93zU.html
Me watching this at night after just taking my 4 month old kitten on a hike for the first time to today😂😅 (she was in a cat backpack until we found a quiet place to let her explore on the leash and she did great!)
Cats NEED to go outside. I personally saw a poor kitty become literally crazy because her owners never let her take even a whiff of air from the window. She turned into a devil and what's even sadder, they had to let her free in the woods because she couldn't interact with humans anymore. She was such a sweet kitty 💔
