I have one twice the size as yours. I leave it in our patio outdoor in the shade it's doing very well super green leaves. I water it when it gives me the thumbs up( it droop) once a week i soaked it until i see water coming out of the pot it loves 113 and up degrees. I don't repot i left in its original pot. Will repot once it gets a lot bigger( in 2-3 years) 😂 I like my Date palm by itself in the corner
I have "forrest" of 5 in a huge planter. They are about 5ft tall so far. My ceilings aren't extremely high so in a few years ( I know they only grow 4in /yr,) , I will probably have to sell them. But they are absolutely breathtaking.
With a non crown shafted palm cutting a few damaged fronds off shouldn’t hurt the palm at all. I had a thatch palm lost every palm from lack of watering is now a fully complete palm again. Now a crownshaft palm that could kill it.
You have to be careful about how much you water. Wet soil in cold conditions will rot the roots. Sometimes in the winter I water lightly so the soil stays moist instead of flushing
@@RobBoryckiGolf Np, love supporting my fellow palm freaks! lol and I'm usually interested in anything Palm related and recently Banana tree's. Cheers!🌴
I one in my shady Balcony and took it out to my new place in direct sunlight all the leaves browned and crisp 😔should I cut all the leaves or what should I do to save it? What do u suggest? 😳
Hi only cut fronds that completely die. If there is some green and life then the plant is still benefiting from the food. If you watch some videos I have done. Plants grown indoors or shade and then put in full shade will burn. I reccomend putting that plant in the sun in the morning and evening until it adjusts. Thanks for watching
I just purchased one from a clearance section. It’s a nice size but the leaves are very dry and crispy. I repotted and new soil and it’s located near a window with a heat vent. Any advice?
For sure. If the palm was in trouble. Probably would have been best to let it recover before you repotted it. I had a old man palm this year which went through shock of Florida. Than travel and cold and I wanted a nice pot and half of the fronds died because it hated what it went through. But if you repot. Just slightly bigger than last time so the soil doesn’t stay soggy
is it normal for the leaves end to turn brown? I can see that your are also a bit brown. I just repotted them their roots were over growing their nursery pot. Any help would be appreciated.
It happens. A little bit of brown tipping is just fine. These guys put our new fronds fast. These guys need a lot of water. I find in pots they are pot bound easily and you can’t water enough
Not at all only when after you sink your finger down deep and feel dryness is usually a good indicator. Once they are out of heat and air movement they will use less
Good question I haven’t seen it. Nor have a friend up here with one big enough to bare. I have seen 15g ones that came up here from the nursery in Florida flowering
i have a Phoenix Dactylifera indoors and it is stretching a lot for the light, and will get very loose leaves without growlight. does phoenix roebelenii act equally?
Hey. Fresh seeds most important. Heat Mat set between 92 -95 degrees and moist medium. And patience for sure I find if seeds are fresh they pop. I pick seeds in Jamaica and less than two weeks later I have seedlings
