Very nice job. A few very minor things, that you may want to consider: 1. Unistrut end caps 2. A metal-clad blank-plate instead of plastic 3. Gusset bends on the 50mm tray 4. Tray Earth braids at joints, especially where you have stopped the tray and started it again to float over the columns. 5. Before you leave, you can cut the tie wraps in the DB and the cables will generally be “set” in place and won’t move. Some people don’t like cable ties in boards, but it’s just preference. So you can use them whilst terminating the board and remove them at the end.

Hi to you both Regarding zip ties inside a DB it’s always been a bowl of contention, my old gaffer said it shouldn’t be done. But I still did it and if someone at a later date needs to identify cables it’s easy to cut them . As for thermal grouping factors in this particular installation it will never be an issue in this situation . You only need to be bothered when you’re dealing with in high current demands . Once you enter into the realms of say 400v per phase then you enter a total different ball game . But for all you potential electricians out there you will learn a lot from this informative channel . And trust me from the day you start your journey till the day you retire you will still be learning . 😀👍

Looks great guys! We use finger trunking inside large panels now. It saves a huge amount of time, looks great and also saves you when at the end of the job the client adds an extra circuit you don’t have to go in there and cut all the cable ties! A nice way of finishing off the cantilever arms is using some 41x41mm uni strut cap ends, sometimes they can be really sharp.

Professional and super tidy installation. Any future electrician that comes to work on it, will thank you. Also here's a recommendation for you, (Portasol APSK SP-1K Super Pro 125 Kit 5 piece gas solder kit) has a flameless hot air blower, which easily shrinks down any size of heat shrink sleeving. It's piezo electric start, and has good run time on one fill of butane. I got mine from Amazon, and have had good use out of it. Great videos, keep up the good work. Never understood peoples obsession with leaving lots of slack in cables in dbs. If we did that for every circuit in a busy board it would be rammed in there!. Stupid idea and totally unnecessary tbh. How many times have you moved a circuit to a different way on a db? And why would you have to lol 😆. Once a circuit is in there its in! Stupid response

@michaelreddington658 Год назад
If you’re a domestic spark then I can see why you might think this but as someone who works in the commercial sector I’ve often had to move circuits around in a DB to allow for new circuits and I’m always very grateful to the previous Spark if they left me a fair amount of slack. I like to leave a bit of slack on a cable in the trunking before it’s stripped and brought into a DB

Cables unlikely to be under simultaneous loads can be omitted from many of the grouping factors. Its in the guidance notes. Think about trunking around DBs etc. All our conductors would be off the scale. Most cases cable ties are totally fine and we dont know the design here. Good work Jordan.

@@johnhoward2104 Hopefully they would be in the regs if they are in the guidance notes about them lol! Think of trunking horizontal and all the cables sitting in the bottom. Cable ties within a DB will very rarely if ever be a problem. But you are right we dont know the details. Good job the electrician on site is qualified, experienced and competent. Well done Jordan keep going.

@electrician247 3 года назад
@@johnhoward2104 firstly not a lax attitude. Its applying regulations correctly. Are you suggesting Jordan hasn't? This is the trouble with RU-vid people seem to enjoy questioning the ability of the electricians work. Its just jordan sharing his work. Why assume its not done correctly? That is not lax but to assume its done correctly is lax? I dont understand that logic at all. But hey I dont want to fall out. Peace to all etc. If you ever pop a RU-vid video up I will be sure to support it as I would anyone else. Spacing of CBs is also most likely to never be an issue. In fact its colder environments that present a greater risk in this situation rather than hotter. Just saying.

Great video again. I use parrot beak cutters for that fine strand cable. Also what are you going to do about the large open holes in the switchboard. Don't they need fire sealing too? I know it's silly but the open hole down to the main switch is just a magnet for stuff to fall into while the busbar chamber was being worked on, without know the actual mechanics of the switch, there may have been potential for an object to fall down and may cause a short to what would still be live?

Suppose they could have done. However if existing install had it no harm in leaving it and quicker to install new dB around it. Plus if you need a large 3 phase supply elsewhere in the the building etc you can come straight of the busbar instead of the new dB. Suspect the old installation may have had several isolators fed from that busbar chamber originally who knows!

I want to get back into electrics, my question is should I jump straight into level 3 diploma or redo level 2? I am not too keen on doing level 2 again and feel like I should be okay if I just put my head down in level 3? Is level 2 that important?

Great work! Just a quick one, at 10:53 I don’t see a main earth cable coming into the board with the supply tri-rated cables? Or am I blind hahaha. Keep up the great content guys.

Pursuing the green perspective, do you recycle/repurpose the old distribution board?

On a job like this do you hire in access equipment to test lighting and the like? Nice and neat job you’ve done. It must be a common thing with regards the emergency key switches, they always seem to be installed in the most over complicated way Which certification software do you use Jordan, board schedule looks neat
