Industry 4.0 - digital twin, human-machine collaboration, virtual reality (ABB, B&R, SMC) 

The video shows some examples of Industry 4.0. We have solved these examples with the team (bachelor students) at Institute of Automation and Computer Science, Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
We focused mainly on the digital twin, system integration with different producers (ABB Robotics, B&R Automation, SMC Industrial Automation), human-machine collaboration and virtual reality.
Step no. 1: Digital Twin
- The ABB Robot IRB 120 is controlled by the B&R Automation PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) through PROFINET. SMCtrak is controlled by the PLC (more precisely via ACOPOSmicro, which communicates with the PLC using Powerlink). SMCtrak consists of 8LVA synchronous motors and LEFB electric actuator. Unity3D (Digital Twin) application in external PC communicates with the robot and SMCtrak through Robot Web Services.
Step no. 2: Human-machine collaboration using Kinect
- We have created an application to control ABB robots using kinect. We tested an application in a simulation on some ABB robots. Real control was performed on ABB IRB 120 robot. We use ABB (RobotStudio ABB) software and custom software that was created in Unity3D for the visualization of the robot movements.
Step no. 3: Virtual reality
- We have created an application for visualizing a real robot in virtual reality (using Unity3D and Oculus Rift). Data from the real hardware is via the Robot Web Services. We also tried virtual reality in RobotStudio software from ABB.
