Wow. This is honestly. Just wow. Amazing. People have NO idea how happy I am to see that they're putting in more pit animations. Can anybody tell me if they're planning on eventually putting in animations for all cars?

Very cool. It’ll be nice when it makes it to endurance racing. Also, can we please have control of our headlights? Auto anything in iRacing isn’t very “Simulator”

If you want simulator get a sim. iRacing is ok for what it is, but other sims have left it behind in the dust.

What should really be done is bring in an actual pitcrew in motion capture suits and have them go through the different pitstop configs. It would look a lot more fluid than keyframed character animations

You really think the base of this isn't mocap? That would be insanely stupid and time-consuming to not use mocap.

@@xiii-Dex its not mocap the motions are way too robotic and stiff. And actually 99% of the time used to animating a character is setting up IK limits (basically making sure the skeletal rig follows proper human limb movement constraints) the pit crew members are based on the same character model so all they have to do once they initially set up the limitations is just do a different animation for each pit crew job, then they just spawn in a couple copys of the same model the model in the sim and assign each one its unique animation. Keyframe animation takes a long time to make look good but this looks really off

IRacing needs to focus and invest their time on more realistic things. Maybe real clutch use, stalls, new graphics engine!!!

Sure you need a lot more of GPU Power for animation like that. Every time you drive the finish line you will get stutter and fps drops... my 2070 is at 100% to get 90fps for my Oculus in current release of Iracing.

All this fluff and all.i ever wanted was brake temps and wear included in the sim. Also... Shifting in red zone would cause trans temps to rise and could lead to failure. Leaves the driver with more to think about and manage.

you can ruin your engine.. thats why they had to put a whole new engine update in the mercedes gt3 last season. the 1st gear would over stutter when it got to much revs on high altitude tracks and blow the engine

@@iracingrookie3301 that has nothing to do with the concept of red line shifts increasing trans temps and brake pad temps/wear being considered. fixing problems is a completely different topic. rather than adding animated fluff to the program, they should be adding elements that separate iracing from other "games".

I have a question, I'm no expert but why indy pit stops are normal speed when F1s are like super fast. Why don't they go this fast to gaik a few seconds ? Again I'm no expert, sorry if it's a dumb question.

Snax F1 has everyone in position from the start with one crew member per corner of the car. Indycar has 2 crew members for all 4 corners meaning they have to swap to the other side to do tires after the are done on one side. F1 they have everyone ready to go as soon as the car stops.

in F1 all the crew members are already in their positions with tires and ready to go, it helps that F1 doesn't allow mid-race refueling so...lift the car up with jacks, tires off...tires on...driver leaves...that quick.

They added pit crew animations ages ago, but only for oval (like many things in iRacing..). I forgot all about them, and honestly care a lot less now. I was excited when they announced pit crew animations, then I was excited when they released them. That quickly changed when it was oval only, and now it's been so long I don't care. I'm waiting for other features long overdue. GFX updates are cool, but if they take years to develop and implement, why not work on something more pressing. Stay focused on being a true "sim", and not become another "game". They do good work, and I love the sim, I just wonder what their priorities are sometimes. If I could pay the same sub fee, and only get road racing, I'd be happy, if it meant more road development, and not waiting for NASCAR cars and tracks to be updated, again.. ! This is constructive criticism from a long time member, wanting the service to at least compete with other "games". They only just released day/night transitions, after announcing that 10-15 years ago ! Ok maybe 5-10 years ago :) This new feature is cool though, don't get me wrong. I'm just not sold on candy, I'm after meat and potatoes (not the new horizon GFX potatoes either!).

In the end it is just the thing, what people want. And oval is just a big part of iRacing. And it is fun too, so I understand, why there is the community for it. The tracks are easier to learn, so it is less time needed for beeing a bit competitive, but also still much tactic for overtaking and defending, that can make the difference in the end. So maybe there are also some more casual players, that really care about a not animated pit crew, while using pit lane more often in higher classes. Road is just more about the pure racing on track, without much pit stops, so it is just not that needed to add the pit crew there first, I think. But in the end it don't really makes a difference, if there is a pit crew working or if I am just waiting there, as long as driving is fun.

we had that 1st days ... alpha / beta stage... sim racers could not stop crashing into each other in pits... so they added ghost option for those who kept complaining. Don't get me wrong,,, I want it back too. Since we have stationary cars now sitting in the pit-lane.

I'd rather they spend their time on other things. If you want to race against A.I. there are plenty of other games that do that. What makes iRacing the best is the competition and structure racing against real people.
