“There’s not a perfect solution to the pit stop dilemma”. Yes there is: for street and road courses you leave pit lane open under yellow like every other Motorsport

Yeah I don't get this one either, the rules are made up anyways, if you want to throw the caution and let people pit, just let people pit. Letting people pit is unfair aswell because people are still going to get an advantage, just embrace it, gonna be honest this yellow shenanigans seems very foolish.

First, you say just let people pit then you say letting people pit is unfair. Then the last thing you say just proves your lack of knowledge. (see how I avoided the word stupid?)

Sure wish the full race replays were available on a weekly basis. I appreciate these longer highlights as I often can't watch them on race day, and I haven't enjoyed open wheel like these cars since the CART days.

The Indycar youtube channel also puts out a longer 30 minute highlight clip usually the day following the race. But hey, there are full race replays apparently so that's cool too

man, hearing Dale Junior, I feel he could have been moderately successful in IndyCar. He's a huge sim racer, he raced IMSA (endurance racing). I'm not saying he'd be the next Will Power or something, but would definitely not be a back marker.

Drivers switching to different cars and series is always fun. I have a feeling the majority of drivers would love to drive anything and everything but contracts and sponsor obligations get in the way...

You're kidding right? Most of the time you couldn't tell who was actually leading the race because of different pit strategies and how meaningless it was to look at the leaderboard and they made no effort to explain that. Rossi won the race. And he evidently did that without passing anybody on the race track. And if he actually did they didn't show it.

I miss refueling in F1. These pit stops are pretty smooth for so few mechanics.

Don't be silly. The risk of fires in IndyCar is still real and Complicated by the fact you can't see the flames. We've seen it before. Eliminating refueling in F1 what's a good thing and that's never going to change.

sad to see empty stadiums, i hope more popularity come soon! Even though DTS isn't the most realistic portrayal of F1, it still brought in a crazy amount of new fans. IndyCar could use something similar.

Yes! I saw that also, thought the leader had just grenaded his engine & dumped a HUGE oil streak directly in front of the entire field!!! 😵 Did you also notice Herta's rear end seemed to literally jump sideways at that exact second in time? Really weird 🤷🏻‍♂️

When the yellow falls has nothing to do with fairness. Letting everyone have a chance to pit before throwing the caution is manipulating how the caution plays out.

He was leading at one point but that was only because he was the last car to make a pit stop. He is usually battling it out with kellet in the back if the field on non oval races.

@@brotatochip7001 watch the 30 min replay. Johnson was 18th in lap 36 when everyone pitted before the yellow. He didn't pit and got to 4th but only because he didn't pit. He therefore had to pit 2 more times. He finished 22nd, ahead of kirkwood and the 2 cars out of the race.

That was one of the wildest races I've ever seen, Indycar or otherwise. As others have said, it's sad seeing them run in front of empty stands. I think Indycar and F1 both sold their souls to the Devil, and that's why fans don't come anymore. Standardizing parts, having to add wings and buttons to push to pass because everyone's car has very nearly the same power. No innovation anymore, all creativity is removed by standard specs. Even the Indy 500. They sell it out usually, but have trouble filling out the full starting field. Loosen the rules and let things evolve.
