OK guys, the end of the season was quite busy! So here is a 10-minute Vlog on Portland, Laguna Seca and Long Beach! All together. Enjoy the ride and some quite good moves once again on track. Thanks again for the support!
I know you may not read this, but from watching you in the last few years at Haas, I’m so happy to see you being able to hit your stride in a car that lets you spread your wings. From watching your P6 Haas debut finish in Australia, to your podium replays at Lotus, to the struggle of the 2020 season that ended in your life-changing crash, all I can say is that your story is one of determined, optimistic professionalism. You’re a true inspiration, Romain! Never stop being you 🏁🏁🔥🔥🔥
2 years in F1 by the entire field. Hopefully the aero and tire changes F1 that include some of the same concepts Indycar uses like more downforce from the undertray and less from the wings to let the cars run closer and getting tires that can slide some without melting will improve the F1 racing.
@@chris_822 F1 just seems to breed so many twats. There are a few nice drivers, but everyone seems to be so far up their asses that they just seem like douchebags.
You had one hell of a season, Romain. No doubt you can keep this up next year. You have single handedly brought many new fans or racing fans from F1 to watch IndyCar. I'll miss this livery, have fun next year.
He will be in an iconic livery for next year… running the DHL colours. I hope Rossi and Herta get the encouragement and motivation they need now that they have a fellow driver who is just as aggressive as them… so the Andretti Autosport guys are just gonna send it.
Seriously living the life of an indycar driver looks sick! Driving around the US in an RV, having an awesome time. As an f1 fan who got introduced to indycar through grosjean, it's such a pure form of racing and relaxed atmosphere. Much more inviting than the corporate and stressed vibe of F1.
If you ever have the chance to get to a race, it's a blast. People are really cool and it's so much fun. But the best part... You can pay about $50-60 (at my track) for weekend access to the indycar paddock where teams work on cars and all that, and the drivers just hang out or walk through on their way to meetings or engagements. Occasionally you can see team personnel too. It's really cool. I wasn't at a race this year, but in 19 I almost walked straight into Chip Ganassi, watched Graham Rahal give an interview, and saw Josef Newgarden, Simon Pagenaud, and Tim Cindric (one of the important people at Penske) all come and go from the transporter to wherever.
And full field autograph session. They split the field into two groups and tell you who's where, choose one line, and you get "hero cards" (driver bio, facts, picture of the car etc) signed by every driver in your group. Then anyone you miss or just want the autograph of, you can get in the paddock as long as you catch them. It's a really welcoming and fun environment. I've been to two indycar tracks in different parts of the country, and it's always so welcoming. It doesn't feel stuffy, corporate, or elitist like I associate with F1. You can see why Romain would fall in love with it. How could you not?
That's awesome. If I ever get a chance to visit the US I'd time it to the indycar calendar. Its also really good to see big f1 teams like mclaren see potential in indycar and push to get a foothold in it.
So crazy, I signed up for Netflix this week just to watch D2S series. Yes, spot on! Netflix should be doing a series just on him this season alone. What a true storybook. But gotta say, I'm already nervous about his first laps in Indy. He handled his 1 oval like a freakin pro man, little winged sprint action in the marbles - but he was on it pulling off passes and not afraid to bang wheels. I roared dude, seriously went nutz for him. That was so fun if for no other reason than he pulled it off.
I am so here for this storyline. Indycar scores another talent as well as worldwide eyeballs. And Romain rediscovers himself and his love for Racing. Indycar is definitely experiencing a golden age
This man’s gonna do great things in the DHL colours next year… Andretti Autosport will be the team that will send it and go crazy with passes… Rossi and Herta are also just as aggressive.
which is why neither will never win a title...their aggressiveness bites them in the ass alot...especially Herta...but hes only 21...he can still harness that.
@@amjan You know, I'm with you. I will never forget what Tony George did to fuck Indy racing up. The arrogance of 1 individual responsible for so much destruction. I can be sitting the the stands after driving and parking at MIS in 45 minutes. The last Indy race I went, 94' Marlboro 500. I just looked back at the entries of that race, Christ, friggin legends. Those were the good days. But I don't know why, I happened to find myself following F1 towards the end of the year knowing HAAS was letting the guys go and after Bahrain, there was just something about Romain that grabbed me and pulled me in. I thought, here's a guy who should be in a cemetery but he's offered a new lease on life and he wants to get back in a car? you fk'n kidding me? So I have to watch this. This is a guy I gotta see. The respect I have for him makes me happy and happy for him to see him have success after so much bullshit driving junk with HAAS. Romain is a guy you just can not help but like the guy and feel happiness for him, at least for me.
I have enjoyed watching you compete in IndyCar this season. I have watched all the races you have competed in this year. I have been an IndyCar fan my whole life but I haven't watched as much the last several years until now. I also watch all the F1 grand prix races and many other forms of motorsport. The IndyCar looks more fun to me than F1 to drive because there appears to be more wheel to wheel action and overtaking. It wouldn't surprise if a single IndyCar race has more competitive overtakes then an entire season of F1 if you exclude the first lap. I am happy to see you getting an opportunity with Andretti Autosport and look forward to seeing you on top of the podium many times next season. Enjoy your time off & Happy Holidays to you and your family.
So glad you got to see Oregon, Romain (it's my home state). One of the most beautiful states in the country and very outdoorsy. You made me an Indycar fan this season and I'll be following next year too!
Been a Andretti fan since the 69 Indy 500 when I was 12. I thought Mario had the coolest name so he was my guy. Been keeping up with the family ever since. We look forward to watching you race next season with the Andretti’s. Welcome aboard Romain.
Love this guy’s full on celebration of life. Baddest ass guy on the grid. He is the reason I started watching Indy car. Wish him every success. Can’t to see him on new team.
surely richard mille is more than happy, i'd say very much delighted w/ how popular you've become as a rookie in the states, what a fantastic rookie year in indycar and what a great richard mille ambassador in the states
Thanks for taking us along this season... I really enjoyed these videos. Best of luck next year! You've earned the top tier equipment and I'm happy to see you getting the seat with Michael!
Romain, your rookie season here in Indycar was utterly spectacular! We are all so, SO proud of you and can't wait to watch you next season with Andretti! Your first of many wins are coming next year, we just know it! Enjoy your off season and good luck next year in the #28. We'll be rooting for you! Go Phoenix! 🏁🏁🏁
Echoing everyone else... Such a joy to have you in indycar Romain. I don't think I'd ever have imagined all this a year ago, but you're truly an awesome racer. You've embraced the culture and community of a sport we (indycar fans) love, and you're not afraid to share that with everyone else. That, in itself, makes me a fan. But, your performance on the track has been unbelievable. You are so exciting to watch, quickly one of my favorite drivers, and I can't wait to see you in your new colors (hopefully in person!) at Portland next year. Enjoy your time with your family and the move. If you have the time, the Pacific Northwest is beautiful (as you got a small taste of) and worth a visit... Up here in Seattle, ok Portland too, we have the best coffee! :)
Great video, the moves at Laguna Seca were impressive! Great season! Looking forward to seeing what you can do with a year's experience and a bigger team. Looks like you are enjoying the life of an Indycar driver as well.
WHAT THE OVERTAKES!!!! Enjoyed watching my first year of Indy to root you on and now after watching this am especially pumped up for next year!!! You will lite the field ablaze Phoenix😝😂
great video we love the videos of travel around america almost as much as the race cam shots. we followed you more in F1 after you joined Haas (great drives at Lotus/Renault) and love that you are doing great in indycar!
Congrats on a great first season in IndyCar and for the new deal with Andretti. Special thanks for these VLOG videos. Hood River kite surfing was spectacular along with all the passing at Laguna. Was hoping to see the onboard of the pass on JJ, but you were apologetic on the post race track interview - so no real need to include it. Have a great off season everyone and Romain looking forward to seeing you up here when IndyCar finally returns to Toronto next summer.
I honestly think Indycar suits Romain so well... It appears at least he gets to drive really fast cars, competitive drivers, AND gets to have more family time and be a normal person! I mean, after F1 and all of that work, it sounds like a blessing and absolutely wonderful. lol I can seriously see why some drivers actually prefer to just move here to Indy. Also, I'm loving the racing lately, just like this race was freaking amazing. This WILL become more popular...
I’m a big fan. I was keeping track of your car at the Long Beach Grand Prix. I’m with cal club and our tow truck was stationed at turn 8. It was great to see when you were gaining positions and was pretty upset when your didn’t go by again. Can’t wait for next year.
