Greetings friends!
Every year, tens-to-hundreds of thousands of lives are negatively impacted by "sex-offender" statutes. The unfounded fears of American lawmakers and civilians alike have led to the creation of some of the most unjustifiably oppressive legislation ever produced in the United States. The idea, of course, being the eradication of sexually-based offenses (murder, robbery, and burglary are apparently acceptable behaviors), yet the reduction effect on these crimes is not evident. Are these laws serving any purpose other than to satiate the unnatural hunger Americans have with sex and crime?
TLDR; we discuss how the American "sex-offender" laws are pointless and ineffective. At best, they are a waste of time and money, more often, unfortunately, they damage society by creating third-class citizens.

If you look at the low recidivism of sex offenders, there is no reason to ostracize and continually punish them. America as a history of enslaving or committing genocide on its people, and that spirit remains alive today.

This is me … I was incarcerated at 12 years old . From 12-21 I was in jail “ treatment “ because I left out of CYa they made me register as a adult . Now I’m 33 . A great man, a father , a brother , a boss. Yet still have no future . Like another person . I’m looked at like trash . And even though my records are not public …… police still can see and harass and sometimes applying for a job it DOES come up . So now I’m trying to get a passport and expand bussiness but this subject will always come about . I’m told to register yet nobody follows up . Which is NOT OK . For me or anyone . So yes this subject needs attention . From all sides . If I can help anyone or anyone can help me please let me know. . I grew up in over 300 foster homes as a victim before going to jail myself . There no justification for my thoughts or actions when I was a child but now I’m an adult . Life and my thinking are VERY DIFFERNT YET . My life and the damages will be forever in this state until I learn differnt ……

It is a slippery sloop even to those who believe they have not or would not ever be in trouble with the law. Courts that propose to judge and convict people for what they may be thinking, or what they may be capable of doing before they actually do anything. Eventually, the same standards will be applied to other crimes; I firmly believe it. Then people will wonder... "How did these laws began to be so "subjective?" I was never into pornography, much less child pornography. They looked, and didn't find anything on my computer or phone still, this was not enough. To add insult to injury, the Community Protection Act board, felt it was necessary to level me a level II Sex Offender, plastering my face all over the internet, and alerting the neighborhood how dangerous I am. Never mind it took them over one year to get to my trial, and two to finally level me. During those two years I roamed the neighborhood without anyone being aware of my conviction, and not one had an issue to pick with me. Now, that everybody knows, they seem to be as worried about my presence as they were before. Actually, I never knew there were so many children in my neighborhood until I was convicted. I became a celebrity, and now children from all over the neighborhood ride by my home on their bikes to see the "Sex Offender", to pick on him, and to bully him. They yell profanities, and run away screaming, as if I were running after them. The entire affair would be amusing, if it weren't tragic and criminal. This is what happens when you don't have an independent judicial system, and those who occupy these offices are political appointees. Don't expect Justice, especially if like me, you tell them what you think of them to their faces, and have no qualms about pointing out how corrupt they are.

The government bodies, through the media, are selling a fantastic fiction to the country where "sex offenders" are akin to a boogeyman. We are led to believe that behind every bush and in every dark corner lies a psychopath just waiting to snatch your kid or assault your wife. One only needs to look at the success of dramas like "Law & Order: SVU" to see how Americans eat this crap up. It's an emotional tale designed to tug at our heartstrings and get votes: everyone loves to have a scapegoat to blame for all their problems! Most people don't ever read the fine print of our laws until they apply to them... Then they discover too late that these laws are far more an enemy of the people than the "perverts" they are trying to punish.

Yes, in fact, these incredibly harsh laws force "sex offenders" to commit new crimes just to survive. They usually turn to drug use and property crime as a result of not being able to find employment, schooling, or housing. This uptick in recidivism is the statistic that morally-bankrupted politicians use to justify harsher laws against "sex offenders" - keeping the cycle going. Since more acts have been classified as a sexual offense since the 1980s, it would stand to reason that the rate of sexual offenses would actually increase. But obviously, that did not happen. If more acts had not been added to the sexual offense list the rate would plummet. Correct? Were any of the perpetrators of these horrific crimes for which these laws were created repeat offenders? Were the crimes against these children the first crimes these criminals committed or just the first time they were caught? The more recent laws only added more restrictions to offenders and made the information more easily available to the public via the registry. The registry would not have protected those children had it been in place when these crimes were committed anymore than it protects those deceased children now.

I believe it was said that in the case of megan kanka the perpetrator of that crime was a repeat offender and that parents said that if they had known that this person lived in their neighborhood this crime wouldn't have happened..I say it would have happened at some point reguardless, because the parents were so wrapped up in there own lives it seems as though they let their daughter go anywhere she wanted without an adult..and at the same time they let her frequently go to her friends home, how do you think it would have went if it was her friends mother or father that either molested or raped megan kanka..this is why these laws don't work..because most of the time these crimes are committed by people known to the victim, a family member or friend. Not saying that there aren't repeat offenders but the resent studies have shown that most cases of a sexual nature against children have been by people male or female that were not on the registry. They pass laws to keep PFR's out of schools, not once have I ever heard of a registered citizens purposely entering a school to grab a child so they can have another victim. On the other hand I have heard of our trusted school teachers and coaches that are already in our schools molesting and sometimes even raping our children. How can you keep "sex offenders "out of our schools if they are already in our schools and have daily access to our children ? I frequently talk with a few of my friends that are PFR's and have these kinds of discussions with them so I can understand there views about these laws. There is a real misconception about people forced to register, most of them are just trying to be productive members of society they want nothing more than having a stable job, home and possibly a family, and as a society we turn them away this is not what we should be doing. If we aren't going to be a part of the solution than we are the problem. Do you want a better world for your children and family? Then change it stand up for our u.s. constitution, protect it . Do not let our government slowly take it apart piece by piece because sooner or later this will affect everyone. Here's how fucked up the registry really is. I have never been charged with a sex offense any where in America, no victim no trial no sentence nothing and because my name is the same as almost 10000 other names on the list I was forced to be on the list in 2007 listed as a habitual offender. Again I've never been charged anywhere in America their is no court of adjudication and no victim of any kind and yet I have over 8 different charges attributed to my name. That paint me as a horrible human being. I've never done this crime and have never ever been charged yet Michigan has me listed as a tier 3 offender. I am currently facing 10 years for failure to register when Michigan supreme court and an eastern district court judge Robert cleland suspended registration requirements until after COVID was over. Because state police were required to work from home causing the infrastructure to not be adequate for reporting. The lawyer that defended me in 2015-2016 trial for failure to register when themichigan legislature suddenly changed laws without notification changing my tier level from tier 2 to 3 as well as all other information on the registry. During the trial it was found I was in fact never charged and my case was dissmissed with prejudice by the judge. However during my trial I had to fire my public defender because he was being elected as the county prosecutor and tried to use this title against me before during this trial. I fired him for his stance and hired another private attorney. Now 7 years later this same county prosecutor is trying to prosecut me again even though it was proven I was never charged. This same prosecutor changed the court transcripts of the last trial to reflect a dissmissal of nolle prosequi which means he. An retry me without falling under double Jeopardy. He willfully changed my convictions over these seven years multiple times without orders from any any judge and has openly taken the law into his own hands and yet I can't get any one to properly defend against the conflict of interest in this case nor can I get my name off the registry even though it was ordered to be removed. This registry falsely convicts people like me and children as young as 9-10 years old for crimes either we are not guilty of and children who knows nothing. This is sickening

I believe some people are not reachable and should die in prison or be monitored in a way to prevent them from doing more harm...but so many others just need a chance to prove them selves safe and sane.

I'm sure you may already understand that, like you, I'm no supporter of the registry. I think it's vile. However, looking at the statistics you provided: 15:34 It looks like sex offenses 'spiked' in mid 90's (not the 80's, like other crimes statistics you showed), which is about the same time Megan's Law was first signed and enacted. I think proponents of the registry are just going to say, "Look at the statistics! The numbers did go down after Megan's Law was established. The registry MUST be working!"
@CommonSenseLaws
@CommonSenseLaws 3 года назад
I would amend your analysis slightly. The original Megan's Law was limited in application to New Jersey. However, the statistics I relied on in the video depended heavily on the statistics of Florida. So, the original Megan's Law played no role whatsoever in the dip in the number of SOs. Further, Megan's Law was not applied to those persons who committed murders or burglaries. Should we attribute the drops in those crimes to Megan's Law? I don't think so. So, no, I don't believe the original Megan's Law played any role in the dip in SOs. But I really appreciate your turning a sharp eye to my argument. That makes the effort worth it. Best wishes!
@achen5689
@achen5689 3 года назад
@@CommonSenseLaws Sometimes, playing devil's advocate fortifies our arguments. As far as not having a registry for murder/burglary/kidnapping, proponents of the registry are just going to explain it this way, "Well, these other crimes were committed in efforts to commit the primary crime of sex offense. If the predator didn't plan to rape a child, he (predator) wouldn't have committed murder/kidnapping to begin with." They'll then go off to say that you're just making "poor excuses" not to have a registry for sex offenders.
@achen5689
@achen5689 3 года назад
As far as the establishment of Megan's Law: It's understandable that perhaps sex offenses peaking mid-90's was simply a horrible coincidence that may be cheaply convenient for registry proponents.
@achen5689
@achen5689 3 года назад
I do want to reassure you, though (@Common Sense Laws): My rebuttal to what these proponents would hypothetically say (That these other crimes (kidnapping, murder) were committed in efforts to commit sex offenses, therefore we have a registry for sex offenders and not for other crimes) is, *_It shouldn't f'ing matter that sex offense is the main motive_* in the offender's series of crimes! Point being is, millions of horrible people commit murder and, what's lesser, kidnapping that had nothing to do with sex offense. People kill children, like they throw dogs over the precipice for fun. *_These_* terrible deeds do not own a criminal public registry, even when sex offenses are in fact irrelevant to their case!! I didn't receive a reply from you for more than 5 days in this string of convo, and I hope I didn't discourage you. I was just spelling out what lunkheads would probably say. It wouldn't be a good reply from their end, hence the rebuttal I just gave. ^^
