Great tutorial. Beautiful color of the pots! I love fountains for the peaceful water sounds and for the birds and insects that visit. I've made several over the years. I will advise to check the glass marbles to ensure they are not just coated with color. The coating can be toxic for wildlife or pets. also slip an old piece of stocking over the pump to filter the water and prevent clogs. the pump will last longer. ⛲💙
Keep in mind when your doing this once panel is exposed to sun it will start pump so don't connect solar panel till you have water in pot otherwise you may wreck your pump.
They tend not to evaporate very quick done the way you have compared to an open water feature. I got a tall heavy pot online 2nd hand and bought a drain from the hardware store with a metal grate so it supported the weight of the pot. I buried the drain so far with just a lip above ground and put a cheap solar pump and added stones at base on top of metal grate. It looked great and never lost much water and never really got dirty. I got that idea off Pinterest. I like your idea of glass instead of stones. I find alot of solar panels are now sold without the stake to put into the ground which I find annoying. Your water feature looks lovely.
Great tutorial and thanks for the info on the pot! I already have a solar fountain. Just need the tubing and the “plate”. Thanks!! Love that pot and the color!
This was very informative. I am building the same fountain. When I tested my solar panel I put it in one place and got a little trickle. I moved the panel to a sunnier spot and the water height tripled. It shot right up. Also the tray you are using can be substituted for a planter pot tray. They are sold with the pots you are using (they normally go under the pot). The one I found had a bigger lip so it sat on the pot more securely. Also they are designed to go outdoors so may last longer than the 1$ store trays.
Usually some pumps give you a few different nozzles, one is like an upright shower, and if you had the submersible light it would look wonderful at night time! 🎉
This is a very interesting DIY 2 do this Summer 4 my garden. The only thing I'd add is a plant stand or another planter (upside down) to elevate the entire DIY since they'll need more height wherever you place them in the garden. Other than that, this is a very practical & doable DIY. 🌈💞 Thank You 4 Sharing. I hope people do this & post pics of their fountains so you can see how folks interpreted your colorful fountain DIY. Really cool ✌🏾
wonderful idea. Please be aware that the fumes indeed ARE toxic. Make sure you do this in the best ventilatted area you can find. Disperse the fumes with a fan, wear a mask or work in a breeze.
I love those planters, love the turquoise colour. The only thing that I would change is to, if possible, add a proper fountain sprinkler on the end of the hose.
@@josephinaalvarado6566 thank you very much. If you want to check out the most recent one I posted a link for the updated version of this in the description.
Thank you so much. We have big plans to make it even better soon. We will be expanding the back into a mud room and finishing the wood room into our master bedroom.
I just watched it again. Its up and running! I love the idea. Its just so cute! I bought everything last yr to make a few of these but something happened so all my supplies were put away. I LOVE your pots. I honestly though they were glass..I'll be making stuff for my garden on this long Memorial weekend.😊 I think if you pulled the tubing up through the middle, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch would it make a bigger bubbler. I'm going to try it anyway. Thank you very much for sharing this.
@@Deerhavenoffgridhomestead Did you use the 12” or the 15”? I have that exact same plate from Dollar tree that I was trying to use with another planter. It fits but it doesn’t want to stay put. The plate itself is 14”. So I was wondering if you went bigger or smaller?
If someone had purchased floating solar filters, they often come with a bunch of different "tips" that you can use to change the water patterns. In my solar bird bath, it's a bit too shallow for those more flamboyant tips (unless I want to use my bird bath to water my front garden) -- but I could see using one of those tips on the end of the tubing you've used to create some pretty patterns. This would also be gorgeous with clear marbles and as someone suggested, an underlight of some sort. I love the colors you chose!
Thank you. I have all the items. I will get a table to elevate it so that my dog doesn't try and shoo the birds away. I believe yours will be prettier if you elevate it too. Thank you and God bless you. I'm a new subscriber.
I have watched quite a few videos and pretty much you guys are all showing the same thing of how to do the DIY fountain. But yours is the prettiest so far with using that gorgeous pot!!
Definitely the prettiest.. but underwhelming as a fountain....I'm going to try a rigid tube so hopefully the water shoots out the top and cascades over.. May even try a sprinkler head from my old solar pumps..
So pretty and such a delight for those pollinators! I’ve been adding more and more water features for the hummingbirds, etc… and this delightful diy is on the list! Thank you for sharing! I wonder if you see this comment and have a moment whether you might share where you purchased the shades on your screened porch. I am desperate to add some to block afternoon sun and heat on our much used front porch. Thanks again!
Really lovely job!!! What I am surprised by is how you used a wood burner on clay pots!! I had NO idea you could do that! Those planters are a bit pricey for me at HD- I usually get mine at estate sales, but I thought maybe a plastic one I put very heavy rocks in would be ok, and it would be easy to burn that hidden place for the wire. OTH, the planter and what you have done with it is maybe worth the $$$ 😍 Thank you for the video!
I use a USB pump and a powerbank for a smaller fountain I have. I got the idea off another channel. They run a long time. Protect powerbank from the elements. Its good for places like patio's with no sun.
@@Deerhavenoffgridhomestead could y Could you share where you found them? I’ve found the info you posted just a couple posts downstream I’m subscribing like your cool & groovy vibe
I really like your fountains, have you ever watched Robbie & Gary from Southern California, she makes all kinds of fountains, she even made one out of a watering can like you have in the background.
Yes love 😏mood lighting for special effects! Fogging Misters with lights below another special tranquil effect..broken hanging mirror pieces cast lighting..
I love your planters which I couldn’t find but I did get a teal planter to use. Could not find multicolored blue glass beads but I had some teal beads. It turned out great!! Thank you!!
Would I couldn’t you use just a splatter screen and then you wouldn’t have to do all those holes you still have to for the hose for it’s going with the solar pump outside of the bucket, but yeah, I would think that it would be easier less dangerous towards kid friendly
Link for the pump is in the description. Home depot for the pot. Dollar tree for the glass rocks. And if you want to use a wood burning tool I got mine on Amazon. amzn.to/3qPp2bO
Where did you get your plates to sit on the pots? I have that same pot and want to make a fountain like you did. I just don’t know where to get the trays. Thanks. You did a wonderful job!!
Extremely pretty but underwhelmed by the water sound and appearance.. definitely inspired by the colours & the glass stones.. but need to rethink the fountain aspect.. maybe a figure ( i hsve a hollow frog tthat can have the tube threaded through the bottom & out of his mouth.. so maybe i could use green glass stones.. hmmmm.. think that sounds lovely.... thank you for the ideas..
