I just found this channel ! I built a Kirlian camera out of old car parts, starter motor and relay and a few capacitors. I got the indium tin oxide coated glass donated to me from a coatings company in the Midlands (England). I created a series of images for my photography graded unit, absolutely nailed it with an A+

UCLA had done some photography of this sort and didn't mention their tests were double exposed. But they tested more on reading people and how those readouts changed with anxiety or stress rather than phantom anything.

If you look you will see for the split of the second outline of the missing fragments on each leaf you captured ( maybe seeing this is dependent from screen refresh rate, cause I don't see any comments about this ), you will see it if looked frame by frame. I'm interested if you could put the cut off part as well, and see if the shape also would appear? And yes some people pointed out that you should have outline of the whole tree there :).

Hi Jay, there is another explanation i tried personally, if you make corona for a longer time with the entire leaf, the humidity and oils will be deposited on the glass surface, due to corona heating, so then even if you remove the leaf (or a part) you can see corona leaf shape coming out from the "oils" footprint

I was about to suggest the same possible explanation. I agree this could explain the very faint "phantom" part. Of course, the cut leaf must be returned to the same position as the original photo.

Wonderful input! I actually first figured that is how it was done. I tried creating a 'grease' image of the leaf, then cutting off a part of the leaf and putting back perfectly where the wettened image was. I could not get it to light up the wet imprint of the leaf despite multiple tries.

Instead of double exposure, could it be that the entire leaf left oil or moisture on the bottom plate to cause it to appear "whole"?

Keith Wagner, the original photographer with California state actually published a refutation study in osteopathic physician journal 1979 refuting sceptic claims that the effect was residual moisture.

Okay, so are saying that you, in this video, doubly-exposed those leaves during the brief intervals when the whole leaves flashed onto the screen? You never explicitly stated that is what you did.

That is correct, and is what a double exposure counts as. Two photos laced together to appear as one picture. But, in this case, I laced together individual frames.

I honestly thought that the leaf expelled some type of conductive liquid on the platform before you cut it as a result of the plasma exiting it, but I could not see how you would have been able to line the cut leaf exactly where the whole leaf was. Cool channel, you do plasma, I do compounds!

Yes that is what normally happens and how kirlian photography works. It is not fake or double exposure but contamination from the whole blade on the plates...

Is it me, at 2:42 and 3:10, the 2 experiment respectively do show the aura of the cut. Each only appear for like 1/10 of a second and disappear but you can go back and forth and catch those 2 moments. I don't know is it only me that see those. Any body?

What if aura is channeled through a medium ? For example, you cut a leaf in half and then you can see that aura on both the cut pieces of leaf. It will only last for some time , because of an insufficient vessel to contain it.

I never undertood why an amputated limb proves or disproves an electrical field of the body. If you amputate something the electrical charge would just leave with it. There might be some residual electrical charge left behind but why would it stay there for long

If you cut off a part of a leaf and put it exactly into place where it lied earlier, it will show the image of a full leaf, because it leaves a small amount of plant oils on the surface where it lied

@@TralenaHyslop science is my "go to" when it comes to rational explanation, however I know without a doubt that the soul does exist in most living creatures. I have experienced many things that were odd/strange with very credible witnesses, some explained by science and others that were not. I just seriously doubt that a high voltage is capable of making a life force visible by means of conductive coronal discharge.

How does one explain then, the phantom limb effect? Phantom limb syndrome is a condition in which patients experience sensations, whether painful or otherwise, in a limb that does not exist. It has been reported to occur in 80-100% of amputees. Is this merely a side effect on the brain of the anesthetic used during amputation? So, psychological... or is it something more?

Jerry W Davis that was the point of the video. All double exposures. All edited. You can tell because a lot of pictures from the 70’s... the outline of the corona doesn’t even match the outline of the part of the leaf that’s still there.

Residual moisture remained in place of the cut sheet. Moisture dries. But the conductive salts will remain dry on the mat (strong insulator). Which were created by evaporation from the previous experiment. The conductive salts form the shape of the original sheet. At 2:42 the leaf is not in the same place. Respectively, conductive areas without a sheet are 5 mm higher.

This reminds me of the story of aura goggles made using dicyanin. Used to make night vision goggles. Soldiers wearing them reported seeing people as demons while wear the goggles and it even caused them to shoot at each other by mistake. The goggles were scrapped. Do you know if this story is even true?

I came here preparing for a debate, but then at the end of the video you explained what was going on so I'm happy now :P I kinda agree with both sides. It would be really cool and exciting to have a sudden change in our understanding of things. But at the same time, as dull as it can get, being able to predict stuff can be pretty handy, so I'm glad my core beliefs haven't been too badly shaken by this, haha Edit: just wanted to say, I've watched a few other videos of yours now. Hi, I heard a theory that those phantom images were caused by the residual conductive moisture left from leave's amputated part. What if you press a leaf against the acrylic and then amputate a part while holding it pressed?

Thank you for testing this. It is amazing to me that anyone still believes this! But I feel the same about a lot of pseudo-scientific BS out there. I was a kid when I read about the famous Kirlian leaf ghost image. I read a critique of it. At the time, Kirlian photography was done by placing a sheet of photography paper that is inside a light tight envelope onto a metal plate. The object, hand, etc. was placed on top of the envelope. A spike of high voltage is fired into the metal plate. The film is developed to reveal the discharges. The secret was that, as witnesses reported, a piece of black construction paper was set on top of the envelope, a damp leaf set down, then one end lifted and cut. The dampness had wetted the construction paper, resulting in a partial ghost image of the cut leaf. Other experiments done by cutting a leaf and setting it down, or by using a leaf that had not previously been wetted, had no such ghost image.

The question is if your Kirlian Photo of your hand differs when you are sick or in good shape. Even if it's not spiritual it maybe shows with help of this electro physics some relevant data. Like measuring brain waves or tracking body data. Interesting for quantified self people or med doctors. Please check it for us! In a next video using same volt and hertz, but maybe in the morning and evening. Or with hyperventilating breathing technic to get more oxygen in the blood.

Good Question . A forensic Scientist , working for the RCMP in Vancouver , was experimenting in ways to identify decomposed bodies . Even though there were only decomposed finger ends , he got a krilian image . The individualized aruas , constitute an finger print formation , unique to that subject . You cant do it in one shot , but it can be done . He concluded a bodies discharge field determines how your finger prints form . He gave a lecture at S F U Criminology Studies , in the early 80s .

I left my body in 2009 after a stressful surgery, so I know conscious can exit. The problem is that once out, time did some weird stuff, it coalesced and events started overlapping and the noise got loud. So just imagine what I seen was a bunch of doctors and people at the end of the bed all talking and whatnot at once...not saying this is exactly what happens when you die...but it was enough for me to force myself back into a painful body.

Interesting. I had heard though that the cut leaf can appear, but only because the leaf damps down the surface before you cut it, and you're just seeing the humidity it left behind. Did you wipe down the surface in between?

double exposure is not whats actually used in these experiments. The drill is that, the moisture from the whole leaf was affecting the surface that it was placed on, so even when the leaf was cut off, there was still moisture from before. And since water is a conductor, there was a vague outline of the whole leaf , even though i was cut off. At least thats what ive read

As the Plasma is AC , it will not be affect much by a magnet. Only DC arcs are affected! Great question though!

When you were doing the after video there was a periodic momentary flash of it's whole energy field. Why? And if someone captured a photo at that precise moment it wouldn't be double exposure... just curious. Love energy and frequency... It heals and kills.

I haven't time to -troll- (er) scroll through the entire thread, but there is an alternative explanation for the original phantom leaf results: I seem to remember that they used transparent plates much closer to each other than yours. It's possible that a 'moisture image' of the entire leaf's transpiration remained on the plates, if the cut leaf was immediately replaced in the same location as prior to dissection. Those voltages would easily display any area with higher conductive humidity, I would think. Yeah I'm a sceptic and even cynical generally... but I lean away from the assumption of deliberate falsification unless there is strong evidence that this choice was made.

You're saying that all the phantom leaf photos are faked? I heard it was caused by residue on the glass from the whole leaf, and the cut leaf was carefully placed in the same spot. Cleaning the glass between shots makes the effect go away.

But, there are questions that i dont see conductors of the experiment asking... If metaphysical aura actually existed , then why would even expect to detect it using purely physical means like electrons and photons if its beyond them.... And another question is why did they expect for aura to remain there after they cut the leaf... I mean even if it existed, and part of the leaf that got cut still continued to hold its form, then doesnt it make more sense that aura remained with the leaf.. That experiment is basically just a waste of time and wasnt tought out deeply enough.

In the the original set up an iron plate was used behind the object and the camera used a flash at the same time the plasma was triggered I'm sure most the people watching this don't know that it would be cool if you could do that. The plate was connected to Tesla coil.

Not sure what you mean. Are you saying these people who independently showed the leaf effect basically all "photoshopped" (knowingly manipulated data) to create the double exposure that you are talking about, or are you saying one can unintentionally create double exposure when using this photography technique?

Hi there!...cool video....apparently another way to get the image of the fantom leaf was that the leafs humidity stayed on the glass and when they put the cut one back, they put it exactly at the previous place and the shocks followed the water on the glass showing where the leave was before it was cut.! Apparently nobody was ever able to reproduit the effect!

Hey, actually I think you might have missed the 2015 John Hubacher paper (PMID: 25603488 DOI: 10.1089/acm.2013.0182). This effect doesn't happen every time. If you tried perhaps 10-20 leaves, I think your chances of seeing it would have been more pronounced. The result of the former paper was "Ninety-six phantom leaf specimens were successfully obtained; 41 specimens did not yield the phantom leaf effect." which is something I had also read in previous papers as well, although with different ratios. Apparently the Hubacher method of replication was much more effective in reproducing the very real phantom leaf effect! Cheers

also you could do it via moisture maybe? putting the leaf on the table could leave behind some moisture which could later act like a conductor when the leaf is then replaced.

There is a phantom leaf at 2:45 and 3:15. If you put the video speed on 0.25 at around 2:45 and 3:15 for one or two nano sec you can see the whole leaf. unless it was edited in video.

I can take a picture next to someone or you can photoshop me into a photo with someone. Showing a random picture of me photoshopped next to someone doesn’t prove or disprove anything about the original pictures. Just like we can fake backgrounds with green screen .... but that doesn’t disprove every background in all movies. People keep trying to “debunk” things by showing that they can also fake it. But being able to fake something doesn’t debunk anything ... it only shows that you know how to fake it. That’s not science.

I appreciate your input. Unless you can describe the physical laws that exist, and unless you can quantify an effect, that’s not science. If the experiment is not reproducible, by definition, it’s not science. In the video, the only phantom images were the photoshopped ones. Why didn’t the phantom leaf appear at all, naturally? Because the ORIGINAL phantom leaf was also photoshopped. So, saying kirlian photography shows an aura, is not fact. It’s pseudoscience my friend. If you believe the phantom leaf to be a real effect, I invite you to 1)explain what laws of physics it obeys 2) explain the physical material the leaf aura is made of. It must be a confirmed material and be proven. The floor is yours.

Plasma Channel science is the ability to reproduce something. But it’s not limited by your personal lack of ability to reproduce it. Lightning is science. It was always science, even before we had the ability to reproduce its effects. Science isn’t some achievement limited by our ignorance. Science is what it is, irrespective of a single person or a group of people’s capability to reproduce it at will ... it only needs to be reproducible. So if you admit your lack of ability to reproduce something, great! Say that. Tout that! But it’s mighty arrogant to call something unreproducible just because you can’t reproduce it ... yet! So sad to see the attitude of arrogance take over what should be a spirit of exploration among supposed scientists. I didn’t say whether the photos are real or not. I’m dating that you have NO GROUNDS to call them fake simply because you don’t know how it was done. #checkmate

ayorkii Thank you for your time. You did not answer my questions. You went around them. You are free to think as you wish on this topic, but you have a massive misunderstanding of science. A science experiment must be reproducible for the EXPERIMENTAL results to be true. However natural physical processes, if they obey the laws of physics, can be proven real simply by virtue of their obedience to physics, without ever being experimented on. There is a difference between natural process and experiment. Lightning is a natural process. So, I ask again, what laws of physics does the phantom leaf adhere to if it’s a natural process. If it’s an experiment , explain why no one has successfully replicated it since the 70’s, despite a drastic increase in scientists and technology. I am intimately familiar with biology and physics as that is what I do for a profession. There is only one way this can exist : it cant. Anyone with a physics degree would agree. Phantom leaf images due to a hidden biological field are impossible. This is not arrogance or ignorance. This is standard physics. The only studies to have ‘duplicated’ the effect are from alternative medicine journals, or companies that explicitly are selling kirlian setups. The studies were put out by highly biased sources, and were very poorly done studies. I read them. The floor is yours...again... because I’m waiting for answers to my original questions still. Your subjective assumption that I dont know how it was done...is just that. Subjective. #nevercheckmated
