Nixon wasnt any worse than any of the other Presidents. Some get away with shit and some dont. I agree that in todays world not much would be said if it happened over again now.
After his ride on Marine One he got on Air Force One to return home to California. As the plane crossed over Missouri Gerald Ford was sworn in as president and the captain of the plane radioed in and had the plane's call sign changed from Air Force One to Sam 27000 because the plane no longer had the President on board.
And then, after he landed at El Toro Air Force Marine Base and gave an impromptu speech to the crowd gathered there, he boarded a Marine Huey helicopter (the kind used in Vietnam) for his final helicopter ride to San Clemente. It wasn't Marine One anymore.
Adam, it's very cool that you went here, because this place has a special place in my heart. Richard Nixon's grave-site was the last one I needed to visit to have seen all 38 presidential grave-sites. I visited it in late June, 2015. Love your videos as always. The video of me going to the grave is on my channel, too!
this video was awesome, you can definitely see the time and love you poured into this, it was well put together, great cuts, great info and commentary as usual! keep it up!
Very nice video presented very well without any obvious bias, well done Adam. You have matured a lot from some your earlier stuff, I will be checking your channel out more often.
Congrats on this one Adam. Great job. You know more about Nixon than I do and I'm 61 years old and lived through it all and forgotten most of it. Your not as lucky on this trip as you were on the Disney monorail vid and the right door wasn't locked, but I see you did check it out. I hope you got back in. Dan
Unexpected ending to a great video. I liked the splicing in of the historical news stories on Nixon and his resignation speech. You put a lot of time and effort into these videos and it really shows. Thanks Adam.
I visited the Nixon library in 2012 with my brother and cousins. It’s an incredibly beautiful library and museum, and yes, it’s cool to step in front of Marine One and do the Nixon Victory sign lol
LOL! You just made me feel *really* old, when you announced that Nixon resigned the day before you were born. I was a 30 year old engineer in aerospace electronics then. Aaaargh! Fascinating look! I did not know that that helicopter still existed. Terrific way to end your adventure, calling a locksmith to come and break into your van. LOL
really, really, cool vlog man. I have said in the recent past that I just love the historic vlogs that you do. you are obviously a history buff as I am. I have always wanted to go to the Nixon library, very awesome job.
great video and exceptional job with the addition of the old clips. im a few years older than you but I was a child still when this was happening so I have never seen this stuff. awesome.
And the timing of the US withdrawal couldn't have been better. My only guess as to why he delayed it until 1972 was it would boost his chances of getting re-elected, and it did.
One of my favorite quotes Adam. "Always give your best, never get discouraged, never be petty; always remember, others may hate you, but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them, and then you destroy yourself." Richard Nixon - August 9, 1974
Was set up because he didn't do what Deep state wanted. Presidents between Kennedy and Trump. Had to do what Deep State wanted or they would get screwed or killed.Heatd he wanted to end the Vietnam war.
Digging the videos, Adam! I live about 30 miles north of Tupelo for the past 15 years, but raised and lived in SoCal for 35 years. I miss SoCal....beach, mountains, but not the traffic!
I remember watching all those events live on TV. I first visited the library several weeks after the funeral. I've been back a couple times since. I was particularly interested in the artifacts in the birthplace house. There's some vintage National Geographics and a bar of P&G soap. I have many National Geographics from that era and I even have a box of P&G soap! I think my soap was left over from my grandparents' grocery store in San Bernardino. The soap must be about 70 years old. Yorba Linda has a lot of nice little shops and restaurants off the Imperial Highway, so it's pleasant to take in a little presidential history there. I think the library's gift shop reports that their most popular items relate to that Elvis picture.
you should've flagged down that cop that drove behind you at the very end of the video to help get ya back into your van..guess you were to busy vlogging..lol..great video!!!
Just read some of these comments. I'll never get used to anyone wasting their time to write anything negative about something that is virtually free. Anyway, great video Adam! Keep the glasses! And get a spare key.
i grew up down the street from the first ever house elvis bought in Memphis and went to college in Mississippi so been through tupelo many many many many times. Born and raised in memphis and big elvis fan and after 31 years of life finally went to graceland
+adamthewoo Have you checked out sun studios yet? Its a really cool tour lots of history there. Very rare artifacts. Also, downtown Memphis has the abandoned sterick skyscraper you should check out!
+someonewithballs ill be down town tonight so i will have to check that out. my girlfriend lives down there so i may have to visit that building. and i have lived and been going downtown for almost 32 years and never been to sun studios
My grandfather was part of the marine one team during President Eisenhower Kennedy and Johnson he left the marines after that. He was the first of his team to ever land a helicopter on the White House lawn.
Nixon was good man and had a dry sense of humor . His helicopter.was flown by Tom Cruz USMC, who worked at Lockheed after serving his country. I also worked with Jack Lohrke , baseball great known as Lucky Lohrke. It was a pleasure working with both of them and listening to all their stories.
Yeah you're in my neck of the woods. It's cool to watch your videos and know the area you are filming at. Also, you inspire my family and I to go explore too. Thank you. I lived in the OC all my life and I think you have seen more than me in the year you have lived here. Ha ha.
oh no I'm sorry you locked your keys in your van, hope it didn't cost anything to get them out. great video looks like a wonderful place to indulge in history.
You should have pointed out that the helicopter wasn't "Marine 1", it was "Army 1". The Presidents Helicopter now is exclusively "Marine 1" but back in the day, it changed between the services. That day just happened to be an Army helicopter.
What a sad way to end a great video... Yep... mistakes happen to all of us... I hope you were able to get in without breaking a window.. BTW.. are you on Patreon..? I'd like to give you a few bucks... I hope you are still producing creative content... I enjoy your channel... Every video you do, I give you a thumbs-up! Well deserved my inspirational friend!
Adam! I love your videos! I remember when you had 10,000 subs! You have come very far! You deserve so many more subscribers! Keep making great videos! Xo-Jensen
I was 14 when he left office and u were born lol ! The following year during football and basketball seasons my freshman year I was a cheerleader and we had a cheer that included Nixon references with Watergate mention completed with the Nixon peace sign at it's end ! I still remember that cheer ! lol ✌✌✌
I carry 2 sets of keys ever since I locked myself out of my vehicle at a wayside on the way up north 360 mile trip , I remember instead of breaking the window I had tied a set of keys onto the coil spring underneath and hidden from anybody else with a long chunk of plastic coated twisty tie wire , What was happening was the fan clutch was grinding down the shaft as if on a lathe , I made it to an auto repair just before the fan blade fell off and cut up the hoses and belts, (symptom = loud shrill squeal) You could also tape a key to the inside of the bumper (just for the door) flat against the frame or somewhere the tape will stick flat(Unseen and unnoticed) but safe
In 2004 I was at the March Air Force Reserve Base in Riverside, CA and went to the March Air Museum. There Nixon's Marine One was being restored and I got to see it all torn up.... in 2012, I went to the United States Naval Air Museum, Pensacola, FL and by chance, Nixon's Marine One was on display, now restored of course, making a tour of museums across the nation before it settled in its new home here in your Video.. Interestingly, When it was at NAM at Pensacola, FL You WERE ALLOWED to film inside. It was in one of the huge Display Hangers.. I am actually Shocked and sadden to see they have it outside here in your video... such a shame to expose it to the harsh sun and weather elements.
+s0nnyburnett This is not true because Nixon was a Republican, the Clintons and Obmama get free passes because they are democrats, especially the Clintons. What Nixon did was equal to nothing more than shoplifting in comparison to what Hillary has done.
+k re What Nixon did was destroy lives and destroy peoples rights. You know nothing about Nixon You keep complaining about Democrats, you know nothing about them either. You need to leave these forums until you can grow up and learn history
Dude, I know that sick feeling when you lock your keys in the car...lol I was a young lad when my parents took me down to Washington DC on Aug 8 to see Nixon resign. it was chaos in the streets in DC. Little did I know that Aug 8 would come back to haunt me. It was years later on Aug 8 that I had gotten married. Just like Nixon, I to had to resign...lol Good work...thanks for the vlog
Liked & Subscribed - Thanks adamthewoo - Nixon was actually a very nice man. Its a-shame he got caught with the Watergate stuff but even after his resignation he still remained a Statesman - He continued serving his country albeit quietly and he remained a Peace Maker until the end. I listened to a-lot of his interviews , speeches etc and he was very witty - anyway thanks again Adam ------------ Bridget (New Zealand)
