www.AdamTheWoo.com - PLEASE SUBSCRIBE - I ventured all over Los Angeles to 4 different cemeteries to pay my respects to all 6 of The Three Stooges.... Comedy Legends !
Peter Farrelly, a writer, once said, "Growing up, first you watched Curly, then Moe, and then your eyes got to Larry. He’s the reactor, the most vulnerable." I always had the most sympathy for Larry. RIP Porcupine. Love you too, Moe, Curly and Shemp.
I went to see a Three Stooges movie in San Diego, back in 1963, I believe it was, and the Stooges appeared live. It was pure pandemonium! Imagine a theatre full of kids screaming at the top of their lungs! The Stooges were GREAT!
It;s sad that Curly died so young. He had a stroke during the filming of an episode titled "Half Wits Holiday". The interesting thing is, if you watch that particular episode, he's strangly missing in the final scenes involving a pie fight. It's almost as if you're not even supposed to notice it, but the thing is ... how can one NOT notice Curly is missing...??? Anyways, some might find this tidbit kinda interesting.
Absolutely! In addition, Half Wits Holiday was a remake of 1935's Hoi Polloi, so they were able to reuse quite a bit of footage from that in the remake. Curly had suffered a few smaller strokes before, but that was the one that took him out of action. They did similar reusing of older clips after Shemp died, before the obtained the services of Joe Besser in order to fulfill their contractual obligations to Columbia. They also used a "double", shown only from behind, in a few scenes.
Fascinating. Does it strike anyone else with a sense of irony that their graves blend in so well among the others? Despite their fame, a person can walk right by them completely unaware that they just passed by the final resting place of a celebrity.
+Jeffrey Dotson Since I was a kid, it always seemed weird to me that some people in a cemetery had grandiose, even obnoxiously large memorials on their graves. To me, it just always seemed gaudy. To me, the most beautiful cemeteries enforce that everyone receives the same or very similar markers. We are all equal in death.
+Jeffrey Dotson it's a good point and i have to say in my experience (family) most Jewish graves are very humble. Some of the Greek and Italian funerals and graves i have seen are just amazing with such splendor and grand gesture to the dead its mind blowing but i guess as Jews we just shuffle off and that's that. lol.
Jeffrey Dotson yes it is odd but we all are flesh and bone and mortal at the end of the day no one gets out of life alive can't out run death or beat the clock..
They were great. Loved watching them as I was growing up. Didn't realize until so much later that Curly had died so young, like more than 20 yrs. before Larry and Moe. They will live on forever in their comedy shows.
Thank you,, when I was a wee child living just out side of chicago, I would come home from school each day, turn on the big old Dumont black and white TV, and spend a hour with the stooges, times were simple then, again, thanks for doing this
lovely video - these guys bought laughter and joy into my childhood. Nice to actually see their resting places and you also made a nice mix of comedy and respect - they would have liked that. I did too...! Well done.
My dad met Moe Howard at a show here in Buffalo NY when my dad was 9 yrs. old. Funny story, that's how my mom and dad first laid eyes on each other, they were both at that show.
To this day I can watch any Three Stooges episode and laugh my butt off at at! 😂🤣😜😉 As for the "canned-laughter" modern-day comedy shows, I find about 99% of them to be about as funny as a cancer diagnosis. Glad I still have the past to watch!
Joe Besser was the manchild "Stinky" on the Abbott and Costello Show. Far and away one of the funniest characters of the days of early television. He also was a guest on the Jack Benny TV program for several episodes. Only two of many reasons he was worth the money he was paid. Great video!
Thanks, this was a nice tribute. I was a big fan growing up. I remember that the Three Stooges came on late at night after the day's regular programming was over. Now, we can watch any episode we want at any time. Curly lived a short life, but he brought pleasure to many.
Love me some Stooges! Helped me become the "Wise Guy" that I am today! 😂 I still have a collectible 6-pack of Three Stooges Beer that my Dad bought me over 30 years ago. I will pass it down to my Son in my Will.
Yet another great adventure. Thanks for taking us. Very well done. These guys were a big part of growing up. Now, as I have children of my own, I share them with my kids. Good, clean laughs we all can enjoy. Without anyone being a wise guy, eh?.
Curly made the act famous, he was a natural. He died the same year I was born, 1952. Give me a few more years Curly & I'll join you for a corned-beef on rye with extra toppings and some cold beers to wash it all down.
so poignant, quietly they rest with their fellow beings, no sign of the laughter or joy they gave us. like others, i thank you for your deep respect in this video
I love The Three Stooges so much. My parents got me into them and every new years eve I watch The Three Stooges marathon. In Metuchen new jearsey where my grandma and grandpa are buried a fire fighter had Moe Larry and Curly on his grave stone because he love to laugh watching The Three Stooges.
Loved their shows when I was young, watched them all the time when I was home sick. Saw almost everyone of them and other actors when we to our local grocery store in Studio City and also the Topanga Canyon Mall.
I loved them all thanks for the memories thanks for making us laugh and believe in magical humor when we had nothing we always had you God bless you for giving us the best remedy to all of man kind laughter rip!
I actually have The Three Stooges Ultimate Collection DVD box set......I often watch an episode in bed before i go to sleep. It's a great way to end the day and enter shut-down mode with a smile! :-)
Those comedians were the best and i dont think we will see a good and funny slapstic going in our way for a long time, maybe never after those kings of laughter.
the 3 stooges is my favorite tv show i always laughed to bad they don't make tv shows like they did back then now its all stupid shit how i miss them days they are the kings of comedy
Let us not forget the almost middle Stooge Emil "Hold hands you lovebirds" Sitka. Though it never went past a few promotional photos he was cast after Larry Fine suffered a stroke.
Not only do you love Jim Varney but you love the Three Stooges too. You're awesome. The Three Stooges are the best comedy tea bar none. Moe Howard is my hero.
I have been a life long fan (late 50s to 2015) of all the Stooges and they are the worlds best at slap-stick. I don't think it's possible to watch any Stooge film and not laugh! With the people around me over the years men seen to get it and most woman just don't. LOL, OOPS, I mean NUCK NUCK NUCK!
Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp were my favorites. Joe I didn't care much and Curly Joe, at least he was a little better than Joe himself. May they all rest in peace. And thank you for making us laugh and making our days after watching the three Stooges.
My favorite: Larry: "I hear fish is good brain food". Moe: "Maybe you should eat a whale". I work in a survey research organization and we used to have in our office the question of the day. Once I asked, "What is your favorite Three Stooges sound effect: Slap in the face, hair being pulled out, eye poke, heads being knocked together?" It's a toughie between the slap and the sound of Larry's hair being pulled but if I MUST choose one I think I'll have to go with the slap.
I am suprized that Moe's plaque didn't have his real name on it....Harry Moses Horwitz...Jeromes nickname at first was Babe....but was dropped because I'm thinking that was Larrys wifes nickname .Years ago I bought the complete dvd stooges setAnd all the books i could find on these guys .So very cool and even has the old black and white features from the 30s
