I wasn’t expecting someone to die of course or anything too major at the end of the day, but the way the characters acted during the events kinda made it like ‘Oh, this is bad!’, since if they characters don’t care, why should I? Like in Sonic Forces where it’s just another day at the office for Sonic despite six months of Eggman ruling and being locked up. I compare Forces to a lot of stuff, it’s a bad habit.

@WiiManElite If someone died then that's a whole character off the roster in the sonic franchise. Sonic Team wouldn't allow that.

@Verserer Gred #StarbitsforLuma Yes you are 100% right and it sucks to say this but that will forever be one of the biggest weaknesses of having a worldwide multimedia franchise that is tailored towards kids such as Sonic the Hedgehog or Super Mario. These types of stories are able to tell great narratives if and when done correctly. But the biggest issue is that there will always be a huge lack in suspense or dread because of the age rating. I know it's beyond obvious and anyone and their preteen years and above can easily understand that. (Unless the company actually takes a HUGE risk by linking the characters story to the actor/actress... Power Rangers Lost Galaxy had me bawling my eyes out as a kid. My parents only found out over a decade later why that implied death scene had me crying to where I couldn't finish the episode.) I'm not Sonic series or anything obviously but I'm just making it abundantly clear that it's the hard truth. I mean if it wasn't the case then Shadow the Hedgehog would have never returned to the series and what have remained dead since Sonic Adventure 2. There's a reason why people roll their eyes at implied death scenes in lower age rated media, because 99.99% Of the time its a B.S fake out...so what was the point? However, THIS comic series did an excellent job of giving off a very strong sense of emotional tension and suspense regardless of such heavy restrictions. This is one of the few good exceptions I can easily give a thumbs-up to in the recent decade. ( EDIT: Here is the Power Ranger scene I was referring to. Keep in mind the actual reason behind this was very deep IRL. Something like this was already done in the comics, though. Eggman created a way to roboticize people just by touching them. He eventually lost this power, though.

Same, this was my favorite arc so far because many times i thought "that's it, the good guys lost" Not to mention how dark this was overall like GODDAM THIS ARC WAS GOOD.

Agreed, you could really tell that Sonic was running on fumes both physically and emotionally by the end of the arc.

A pipe dream, but i want this to be a game.

@WiiManElite what do you want more than: A kid seeing her mother transform of front of her eyes. Being toyed with as a joke by the one who control the zombots that basically killed her mother. Seeing the horror in the faces of the same hero that basically uno reversed a 3 multiversal gods with 7 piss rocks or 3 rings. Seeing waves of innocent beings turn inhuman because of a sadistic villian. It doesn't need a long lasting impact to be good or dark,it put alot of suffering.Hell I say no one wanted it to hqve an impact later because of how dark it was.

Electric Soul second of all I’m pretty sure the comics are canon since they take place after forces so imagine if they just killed of a main character IN A COMIC BOOK

@@Mikey64 We'd need Silver too. 😂 I doubt anyone else would've had the mental precision required to use the Chaos energy in the way he did, taking all the virus (and _only_ the virus) out of every living being on the planet, and not missing a single drop of it. And doing it all at light speed too, since they did so many laps around the planet within seconds. That's why Sonic handled the portal and left the fine motor work to Silver.

Bit now that I think about it if he did sonic would either get his Butt kick and get killed or beat them all thus making metal sonic look very weak from that point on. Story writing switched to someone else like 2-3 issues later so he probably retconned the memory loss so the new story writer wouldn't mess up his idea. He was probably told abt switching writers after it came out which is prob why it turned into such a massive letdown

@@ahmadkazan7994 I mean, it was... sufficient. I'll give it that. It's par for the course, if you will. My problem is leading up to that ending everything got a bit rushed, so we couldn't savour the true extent of the crisis before the final encounter. That, and I just bloody hate the deadly six.

I believe its because Ian flynn was being replaced with another writer so he had to wrap things up and kinda reset things for the next writer.

What about Starline? He used simple misdirection and explosives (hidden in the vault) to try to get rid of Sonic. Starline would have succeeded if Silver wasn't with Sonic at the time.

Starline knew Silver was in there, and either failed to take Silvers powers into account or simply ignored them, both making Starline not look that good... Starline even demonstrates in the same way Sonics abilities, even as basic as the speed of the blue blur. And even if we go the step further and assume everything had gone exactly as to the simplistic plan and Sonic would have been alone and caused the explosion, seeing how many things sonic managed to survive, just 'assuming' that Sonic is dead and not doing as much as checking for it (something eggman did naturally first thing by this point) puts this attempt on sonics life clearly at 'pathetic'.
