Conntraband just isn't worth the trouble. Weapons return a lot more credits. I think this is one of the things that Bethesda really missed a beat with. I don't know why they made contraband so worthless when they could have allowed players to build a character around it. Playing as a smuggler with suitable rewards might actually be a lot of fun. I feel the same about outposts. They just seem pointless. I hope when multi-player goes live they have that sort of thing as a big part of the game.
Agreed , also when you first look at the contraband the value will be 20k + then when you go to sell at the Den , you get around 2k for it. We need a special contraband vendor that pays the actual value of the contraband, then it would be lucrative. Some sort of DLC sidequest where the reward is you unlock this special vendor at The Den or something like that.
@@TheAgentAssassin I just hope they haven't already decided to lock it behind a paid DLC. That sort of thing should have been in the game already. I would like to be able to set up outposts to trade and interact with other players. It all just seems so pointless right now. Set up an outpost and farm resources. Why? There is nothing to do with it. Hopefully when multi-playeer comes all that will be opened up.
@@btbarr16once again they’re just assumptions. I highly doubt it’ll have multiplayer. I like the game. Are there problems? Obviously but I still enjoyed the story even if it was a little shallow. As with most games these days I’m sure it’ll get better.
This seems similar to a glitch where an enemy ship does take off with you in it and you leave the ship in orbit by fast travelling back to your original ship's landing site (My Ship point) from orbit. Take off manually in your original ship and dock with the now "empty" and hostile but not active enemy ship. Each time you "reset" with time passed, new loot and potentially turrets or enemies may appear. Loot does reset as well. It must be my bad luck that whenever I try to steal ships, they take off with me in it. There's also a bug that prevents ships from opening and dropping their intended landing party which forces ships to take off soon after landing. I'm not sure if wanted status is really necessary unless your want Ecliptic mercs or bounty hunters. IMO, you want Va'ruun as the faction to farm their particle weapons which are worth even more than contraband and don't require scan jammers or shielded cargo. You can farm ships without a bounty status. Find a nice high level moon, listen for the "sonic boom" (htf can you have a sonic boom in a moon with basically no atmosphere idk lol) and look to the sky for the ship. Quick save once you hear the boom and you can farm until getting the ship/faction you want to land. Don't forget that if you have higher scanner skills you can see what ship is from further away.
Ok after some pretty intensive testing, I have concluded that you DO in fact need the “Wanted” trait for the bounty hunters to chase you planetside. It’s approx 60% chance if you do not have an outstanding bounty, approx 90% chance if you do have an outstanding bounty. They will chase you down to ANY moon/planet if you have a bounty, however it seems that the chance increases if you land on a planet/moon that belongs to the faction that you have an outstanding bounty with. Hope this helps someone…
The wanted trait is what he meant. I am using that traits and get ecliptic after me quite a bit I recently had this same thing happen a few hours ago actually
Even in very early game, you're not going to get good loot this way. Get your piloting skill maxed, steal a class C ship, and fight elite bosses on level 75 planets. I did this as early as level 7, just need to stock up on ammo, med packs, and heart+. Seems to be the best way to get superior armor and advanced weapons early
Agreed. I went to Hyugen as soon as I got the Frontier. I didn’t even wait, went straight to grind lvl75. That’s the way to get what you need for the rest of the game. Stray from the quest as soon as you get the ship.
If you are talking about the UC Vanguard Longsword ships, this is by design from Bethesda. But there is a mod that allows you to steal these ships... I get two or three every day. It is called "Shade's Ship Stealing (Authorize Restricted Ships)" and is found on Nexus.
I think this is a glitch related to if you happened to steal a starborn ship before new game plus, you not really supposed to be able to but in come cases you can. It can bork a lot of things related to ships spawning on planets apparently and the only way to fix it i believe is to go into new game plus or thru Unity. Although some ships will just happen to be inaccessible that land or are landed on a planet like say ones that land at new atlantis in the other landing spots or other big cities, but if all the ships are everywhere then that's a bug
I really dont think this is necessarily related to having a faction bounty at all or having a"wanted" status and is just a case of regular ships landing. When having the "wanted" trait the ships and groups of enemies that come and try and get you on a planet tend to have bounty hunter as their name but will have at least one note relating to the bounty and having your name on it. They will also come and find you on the surface. Its in some way similar to the bounty hunter ships will attack you in orbit when you have the wanted trait, they will have bounty hunter in the name of the ship. So I may be wrong but I'm not sure if you get a "wanted" status by having a bounty for any of the factions or not. Im not sure if there's some amount threshold that need to be reached to cause them to come after you or what. Would be interesting to know
I just use the mission board. Quick tip: When you board the enemy ship, take out everyone, go to the pilot seat. Open the ship menu (pc is H) then make your ship the home ship. Then board your own ship (pc is X) then go to the pilot seat make your ship the homeship again. The ship you boarded will then fly home. It saved me a ton of time
Two tips: One, when scanning, if you hit A (Xbox), I think it is, it will name/tag the POIs. So rather than "this icon represents an unknown structure," you can do that, and it will identify it as Structure, but it will also give it an icon that hints as to what it actually is. Second, you can still sell unregistered ships with RB+A (or LB+A), look at a registered ship (Guardian or starter ship are useful as they cannot actually be sold), hit the "next/previous ship" button and the sell button at the same time, you will sell the ship at full value. This will likely be patched at some point, but they haven't done it yet. Lastly, you'll have to pay off that bounty at some point. One could argue, you could just jump into the unity, but then what are you building all that money for?
You can't sell the Frontier? That's crazy. I'm pretty sure i remember selling it on my very first play through when Starfield first came out, havent tried since though.
Only for the other faction or non-aligned planets. If you have, for instance, a UC bounty and try to go to New Atlantis or Cydonia, you'll be intercepted by UC ships and forced to pay off the bounty plus a fine (or, if you haven't done the Crimson Fleet quest for the UC, be recruited to go undercover with the pirates). You can go to Akila or Hopetown with a UC bounty, but not a FC bounty. And of course the Red Mile doesn't judge. You can also go to a city of the opposite faction, go to the nearest bar, and pay the bounty plus 10% to have it removed. (This also works at your own outpost, if you built a Bounty Board.)
