Had to own it. bought it with a blown engine but very clean inside. outside is decent some few dents and gash but nothing major. but all running great now. :D

nice G video! This is an 05 06 model sedan. Cool.. the jdm panels are a dime a dozen. These stock units are quite heavy when lifting without breaking or scratching 😣 brings back memories lol

Nice video, that exactly how you explain things. BTW i'd really like to know if i don't need wheel control at all what i don't need to do? what units i don't need? (I just hate wiring stuff and the less units i have - the better + anyway want to replace wheel)

Great video sir, just picked up a 06 6mt sedan. Traded 1 of my AR's for it. $500 auction win that I shot once in 4 years been taking up space in safe since. Car didnt run. Fixed it pretty quick, fuel gage was broke added 4 gallons of fuel and it fired right up lol. Anyway it had a ipod dock intall in 06 in the ashtray looked clean but the wireing in the dash looked like a 5th grader did it, rcas going in loops to boxes from radio shack 2 switches and a single video input in center console. In the process of pulling all that BS out but i would love to be able to hook up a set up where my android would mirror to the gps screen and misuic would play from phone to stereo. Might pull it all and do a install down the road but bose sounds decent enough in this 1 my 04 sedan sounded like crap. Pulled everything, ran new wires to new Kappas, ilx-w650 and the power pack amp in jdm surround kick myself in the butt for mounting the amp to the stereo though. Pulled factory sub and amp so bass from the JLW6 could make it into The cabin.

Thanks! Now depending on the head unit, you might need to put in a small plastic trim to fill a small gap on the bottom.

I added steering wheel control to a Kenwood nav head unit, NAVICS module to use the nav screen as a second monitor but mainly use for the back up cam. Wireless mirroring, multiple amps, Sirius tuner. The biggest hurdle was getting all the damn wiring to settle so that the headunit can fit flush back into the dash and finding the correct wires for the speakers at the rear deck and the correct wiring for the steering controls. The Bose system was a B$tch! because of the different colored wiring but I found what mattered was the location of the wires relative to the harnesses.I set up a relay to power up the amps from a 12 source.

Once again, great vid! Im in the process of replacing the HU of my 04 x sedan. I wanted to remove the nav systen but I found a company that makes a harness to use the nav screen for aux input in which it will be used as a second screen. Im removing the Bose system and I have a 4ch 300w amp and a 250w mono amp for the sub. Whats your opinion for using a second battery and stiffining cap?

I would upgrade the grounds and just add a second battery. Don't really need the cap.

@@AnthonyJ350 I posted another comment out being anxious but I intend to mount an agm for the amps. I actually finished the the install shortly after the last comment. I added the grounds well before the h.u. install but I should have ran a larger gauge power wire. I going go 1/0 when I do the agm set up and a mechman alt. Then it will be completely finished! I was considering to sell or trade when I bought another Tahoe but its definitely a keeper now! Last stop is diff and subframe bushings before the end of fall. Everthing else is upgraded.😊

Have you ever done a head unit for '07-'13 G? I don't like the Metra kit for it. I heard there isn't much room for wires and cables.

Grounding is always the biggest problem for me when installing custom head units, Can you explain where the ground point on the chassis is? did you run the ground wire all the way into the engine bay to get to the actual chassis?

This video is a little old so head units have changed. It's really best to buy the product and parts from your local install shop.

It should be the same shape opening to mount them in the bezel.

Tuan Pham Ya that's how much I bill roughly for these cars, it's a fair price. You might have to drill new holes in the factory brackets to get it to line up nice in the opening.

Question, just ordered a double din, I’m aware I need the “nis pac 2” in order for this installation. Do I need the maestro device in order for my steering wheel controls to work? Also what do I need for subs. I have a sub , amp. Is it just rcas? And signal wire? So In conclusion do I need the maestro device, and rca and signal wire? To complete my installation with no issues on parts

Yes you would need a separate module to do your steering wheel controls, either Maestro, PAC Audio or Axxess (Metra).

It will depending on the head unit you select. A good aftermarket head unit will have better processing abilities and also be able to play more audio format types and give you bluetooth connectivity.

Hi Anthony, Do you happen to have contact with or know someone in Eugene, OR who you could recommend to upgrade my 2005 Infinity G35 Coupe to the Head unit and include a backup camera in the system? My car is rare with only 36K miles and looks like brand new. Even though your tutorial is SO WELL explained I was tempted. But my wife says at 72 I need smarter young skilled hands to do this..

Hi, sorry I don't know anyone in that area. Best thing to do is visit your local install shops and ask to see pictures of their work. Preferably a shop with a good Google rating to start and a clean show room. You'll get a feel if they care.

@@AnthonyJ350 Just when I was heading over to "Brad's Car Tunes" to show them your link to installing a Double D setup and backup camera on my 2005 Infinity G35 coupe, you messaged out leaving your job with who you worked for. I thought your U-tube tutorial was gone, then I found it again. I am taking that link to this place and a roll of 2" painters tape to show them what all I want protected... my car is rare with only 36 K and really clean... Thanks for the great tutorial... I also understand now there are pre-maid plug pigtails... Hopefully it will all work properly. If you have later versions of that head install it might be even better. I'm having every dash contact line be tapped off. Sorry, too much talk but I'm long winded.. Thank you...

It should fit without an issue. Now the bottom may gap a little bit so you might need to put a small trim piece in to fill the slight gap if it bothers you.

So you never showed how you got that perfectly flush head unit install, much less the actual double din head unit install at all! Definitely the most difficult portion of the entire install. Did you trim abs? Use/modify a kit? If not, what did you do? If so, how did you do so? That is the video g owners most need to see. If you have one available already, please excuse me and help me locate it?

Double DIN is a standardized size. As long as you purchase one from one of the major brands.

I would remove it. You can't update the maps. Better off putting the factory pocket in and simplifying the car.

That really depends on the gear and how you want it to look. It's really best to visit your local install shop and ask for a quote.

It's the same as your factory controls because it is am OEM piece just with a bigger opening

No I’m talking about taking out the stock radio cutting the stock plastic face that the radio goes in to fit the new aftermarket double din. I attempted it and it didn’t work

I have 07 g35 with Bose system and navigation, Bluetooth I order the Metra 99-7605A and the aftermarket joying stereo.when I plug in the metra ac plug my AC buttons don't work except the rear defrost. can someone help me out

Ya that's why I recommend everyone get the "Skyline" kit from Nissan, it just works and fits better.

Yes it's plastic. But it's OEM and shaped to fit the vehicle and comes with HVAC controls.

@@jaysolox You will have to turn the volume up on your stock stereo before disconnecting. For the faceplate you'll have to contact Pioneer and see if you can purchase it separately.

For Carplay this unit needs a physical connection. Regular hands free is wireless.

It's pretty straight forward. Unscrew the climate controls, remove, transfer over and screw back in.

AnthonyJ350 Unless this head unit is substantially different than most, it's certainly not as easy as "just bolting it to factory brackets" in order to get a true flush, factory look. And what can I say? We can't all have a good ear for music!
