In this video I present the diagrams for a 2016 QX80 Ignition system and explain how to use them in troubleshooting a relay problem. I also show where the fuses and IPDM is located in the vehicle.
Jack's explanations are precisely what I need - no frills, extremely detailed, one liners and a visual follow-up on location in engine bay. I am on the front end of a project and will really appreciate bouncing off a couple of electrical connectivity questions.
The ECM relay is located inside the IPDM itself. It doesn't appear to be serviceable. It gets power from fuse #43 (20A fuse). You could test the relay at that fuse location on the IPDM module. Use the diagram of the ipdm layout shown in this video at 10:30 to find the fuse #43. It's not mentioned in this video but you can still use the layout shown to find it.

I have a 2011 Infiniti QX56 WTH 175K MILES CURRENTLY ITS NOT RUNNING AND IM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHATS WRONG I DID A TEST ON FUSE 72 AND 74 AND GOT NOTHING FROM THE TEST LIGHT ON BOTH OF THEM AND ALSO THE IPDM I ALSO DID THE TEST WITH THE LIGHT ON THE RED WIRE THAT GOES TO THE STARTER FOLLOWING THE STEPS AND NOTHING FROM THE TEST LIGHT I ALSO DISCONNECTED THE STARTER HARNES AND I HEARD IT TRYING TO CRANK. FOR THE HARNNESS GOING BACK TO THE IPDM WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE STARTER HARNESS I ALSO DID THE TEST LIGHT AND GOT NOTHING FROM THE TESTEE ON THE IPDM. ANY SUGGESTIONS BY CHANCE. Sorry you're having trouble with your infinity. I can't really troubleshoot through RU-vid comments, but I'll try. Since fuse 72 and 74 should have power when the Ignition relay is on, but you don't have power there. Then check if fuses 71 and 73 have power. They should have power even if the key is off, but test them with the key off and with it on to see if there is a difference. If fuse 71 and 73 do have power, but 72 and 74 still Don't, then check IPDM fuse 61 and 62 with the key on. They should have power. If they don't have power, then check IPDM fuse 41 and 42. 41 and 42 should have power even with they key off, but test them both ways. If you look at the diagrams in the video, you'll see what im having you check. We are verifying power to the relays. When troubleshooting, be sure to check all the easy stuff first. For example, be sure you have a good charged battery with at least 12.3V and be sure your battery cables are connected well. Check both positive and negative cables. I hope you find your problem and fix your car.
Chilton repair manuals with schematics are available online through most state library systems. Check your local library website or try going to Chilton manual website and see if it is available for you.
The horn is protected by a 15 Amp fuse (blue), #31 located in the engine compartment inside the box near the IPDM. If you are standing in front of the QX80, facing the SUV, the box is on the left near the battery. Pause this video at 15:53, the blue fuse to the left of my finger is your horn fuse. The black little box to the right of my finger is the horn relay.
The VVEL relay is located in the far right bottom corner of the relay/fuse block shown in the video at 16:30. This video does not have info about the VVEL but that relay/fuse block is shown. The lid for the box is labeled with the VVEL relay location.
The diagram suggests the fuel pump relay is internal to the IPDM. The fuel pump relay receives power from fuse #60 and outputs that switched power on IPDM connector E15 pin 54.
No power getting to ipdm module starter signal wire, hot on blue but nothing on red signal wire! When trying to start. New ipdm still the same thing!! Starter is good but link failure when I plug my scanner up to obd port. It just stop cranking, no crank, click, nothing. What do u think could be my problem?
