I have FH. Cholesterol over 350 since childhood, up to 525 (total) as adult. Two confirmed genetic defects. If cholesterol LDL were the biggest issue with heart disease I would be dead and I am 59. What did almost kill me was statins. I’ve been in three clinical trials for PCSK9 inhibitors, including Repatha. I’ve even been on LDL Apheresis. I follow your work because you focus on inflammation and insulin resistance which I believe is the key to better health that I can control. Thank you!

The irony with statins is that when you are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes you are immediately prescribed them in order to keep cholesterol lower buttttttttt statins increase your blood glucose levels. I think I would rather do without the statins and try to get blood glucose levels lower.

1. Some statins increase blood glucose in a small minority of patients. So your general statement is wrong. 2. This potential side effect is well known and has been researched. The findings show that even in those cases the continued use of statins outweighed the negative effects from the raised glucose and potential type 2 diabetes in high risk individuals. Summary: Inflammation is an incredibly important factor that may not receive the attention it deserves although it has been well established. However, lipids are also a key factor. It is a fact that there is no heart disease without elevated ApoB. Statins lower ApoB. Much of the “LDL doesn’t matter” argument is misleading. LDL is not a great marker because it measures the volume of “bad” cholesterol. However, it turns out that the number of “bad” cholesterol particles is the more relevant measurement. This is measured by ApoB. The causality is clear since - as I stated above - there is no heart disease without elevated ApoB. So lipids matter greatly and statins lower ApoB. If you are one of the few people who experience side effects you should consider other ways to lower your ApoB - pharmacological, nutritional, lifestyle- but not pretend that lipids don’t matter. And definitely make sure to pay attention to your metabolic health to keep inflammation in check.

I have a cardiologist who switched me to pravastatin and ezetimibe (Zetia) from atorvastatin (Lipitor). He explained that the pravastatin worked on a different enzyme system than Crestor or Lipitor. No more muscle pain. Pravastatin is hydrophilic. My cardiologist told me to reduce glycemic load by reducing intake of high glycemic carbs. He advised Berberine and Kyolic (aged garlic). He recommended Omega-3. I take metformin and allopurinol. He advised cardiovascular and resistance exercise. My LDL is 70. My age is 73. I lost 35 pounds. My CAC score was around 780 four years ago. A1c is 6.1. Particle studies improved. He says that I could celebrate after four years. "All that calcium is in there, but no ischemia." If you get ischemia, you are headed to the catheter lab. Hopefully, I have stopped the inflammation. My internist simply says, "Cut carbs." That is shorthand. I'm off to the gym. All of my physician friends say I look really great. I watched Ford Brewer for four years.

And here in the USA, supermarkets are stocked full of processed sugar, seed oils, and highly processed grains... all of which increase inflammation. I think the unfortunate part is that there is little incentive to change the root cause because treating the symptoms or blaming it on cholesterol is more profitable.

Dr. Brewer. I have diabetes type 2. Towards the end of this video you gave an example of an individual who had perfect levels of blood sugar before a meal, one hour after, and two hours after. He also had a perfect A1C. But then you tested his insulin levels during that process and it was out of whack. How does one test their insulin levels like this? Second, how does one accomplish getting their insulin levels down within the correct ranges? I have been Whole Food Plant Based for a while and had problems with my blood sugar. I have just switched to almost two weeks of low carb higher protein diet and my FBS are down within the 88 mg/dl to 120 range. Thanks for your videos and any response.

Plant based is your problem and I’m not knocking the way you eat. You want to eliminate that type 2 then get back to meat. Do keto or carnivore. Make sure it’s grass fed, keep your carbs below 50 to begin with then keep them below 20. Make sure your eat 6 to 8 ounces of meat and plenty of good fats. You’ll eliminate that type 2 in no time.

One thing that I add to my health and wellness is earthing/grounding. It does change pain levels (inflammation) in body. I have Lyme and it is a miracle. Just put your feet on ground or rock or cement for 30/40 minutes and see how you feel. Humans need too ditch the shoes a bit and take a walk. So many ways to change the blood viscosity. Blood pressure drops and feel relaxed and energized. At 81 I need all the help I can get. Especially because right carotid shows some blockage..but I’m working on it. Weight about 115 lbs 5’4”. Loss of much muscle mass after Covid vaccine. As well as loss of feeling in feet and legs 2/3 days after vaccine. But after 2 years it is beginning to get better. Medical Dr. check for blood clots. Another nuclear test coming up soon. Diet has always been organic/grass fed etc. Yoga/biking to compensate long days at office desk. All natural child birth No drugs, breast fed children. Keep living like animals on our earth. They know how to survive…😊👍🏻💖I’ll still learning everyday and happy hoping to live another 20 years.👍🏻

I am 73 years old and I just had 4 stents placed 2 in my circumflex and two in my right colony artery. My doctor told me if I did nit get on a statin he did not see a good future for me I have never wanted to go on a statin because of the side effects and seeing so many MD’S stating that they didn’t think they did much good. I am insulin resistant and have high inflammation markers. I have been eating a low carb diet for about a year but I have also been eating high fat. I want to really do keto but I have not gotten there yet. Now I find myself in a quandary as what to eat. Did eating more fat do this to me as many of my friends tell me. I still believe the carbs and sugar are the culprits. Where can I find someone who can really help me.Thanks

The only diet that I know that works really well for people with heart disease is a low-fat Vegan diet. They are able to stabilize their condition by lowering both inflammation and cholesterol in their system.

Would fasting insulin and c-peptide not be as good as the 1-2HR insulin test? Because I’m sure it will be hell to get our doctors or who ever to do a test like you just showed

Dr Brewer are there any studies that have been done that verify which supplements reduce inflammation? Like Tumeric, Curcumin, Berberine or Quercetin

At the end of 2019 my total Chloresterol was 5.5 mmol/L. After lockdown for a year and a half I've lost about 8 lbs in weight. My chloreserol had peaked up to 7.2. But I've lost weight even though I've been eating more fats (butter, yogurt, cream ). My doctor says I should start on Statins. But I'm not convinced. I think it could well drop again now my weight as evened out at 12 stone 2 lbs. Though I'm 68 I'm extremely fit, don't drink and exercise every day. What to do. But at least I have more information on which to make a judgement thanks to your excellent video. Thanks.

Why would you eat saturated fats?? It gets into your tissue and causes diabetes through insulin sensitivity, even if the direct effect on LDL would be less. Eat plant foods for 1 month with healthy whole foods and have your blood tests done, I bet you will feel much better and have drastic improvement in your numbers. I have seen carnivores drup their LDL from over 150mg/dl to 80 - 90 in just 4 weeks of plant foods, and vegans can often achieve numbers a low as 50mg/dl which makes the practically bulletproof for athrescelerosis progression.

@@walterski8377 LDL is obviously the driver of heart disease, proven by genetic studies that already prove it 100% + studies on large populations of hundreds of thousands followed for decades. @Cyberfunk did you watch the video and get any knowledge from it?. Carbs cause the body to spill out insulin constantly. Meat and fat don't give you the wild swings in blood sugar because they digest slowly. They stabilize insulin release.

what happened is simple. in literally all aspects of our lives, those 'in control' want the population to be weak, sick, and constantly indebted to large corporations. be they medical to receive eternal 'treatments', to consume 'food' with no true value and laced with toxins, etc... this is why one needs to ask the simple question 'how did my ancesters, eons ago, eat? what did they eat? was it the sh*t offered from corps as highly processed packaged foods, or natural, close to the earth non toxic, non manipulated, non processed foods. the answer is clear for anyone to see, or should i say, for those desiring to see.

Dr Brewer what opinion do you have about Intramyocellular lipids causing insulin resistance? That seems to me to be the main point for a low fat plant based diet.

Less fat consumed equals less fat stored in cells?
@krzysztofh6308
@krzysztofh6308 3 года назад
@@tomhayes9226 good logic. Plant based diet is basically reducing calorie intake (you cant eat so much potatos) plus some anti-inflammatory plants. The effect is the same as fasting, just a bit slower. Randle cycle plays a great role in that process in my opinion. There is a study in which 2 weeks plant based diet 70% carbs reduced insulin, glucose and hsCRP levels.
