I hope you're getting through to people and convincing them to start prepping. If nothing else they can stock up on food and water. I'm so afraid for my cousin and aunt who live together because I know they haven't done anything to prepare for what is coming. Some people just don't get it and will have to rely on others to take care of them (if they can even travel to give help at all). You and your family are a true inspiration. Keep it up PLEASE.
tyson & perdue companies started stocking up on chicken bc the supply is going down. price going up. nike, under armour,- having supply issues out of vietnam due to shut down factories.. shipping gone up 95% im in north east, nyc area- hospitals by us are having issues getting sugar free items for patients, disposable paper goods, milk, juice boxes, jello! , Pharmacy - supply issues, certain brands not obtainable. im frightened but planning ahead!
Well, everyone wanted 15.00 per hour, and all the "free" programs and money. Somewhere down the the road, someone's got to pay up.this is just the beginning.
My hubby's family is Italian and one of his cousins told me that they never seemed to have extra funds for skin care items so she simply used what she already had for her face and skin and that was Olive oil. Her skin looks fabulous to this day! Anyway, just thought I would share. Have a blessed weekend Tessie and thank you!
I work at Dollar Tree, just wanted to clarify that prices are going up but it will not be everywhere all at once. My understanding is that they will begin "testing" this in about 500 stores in larger markets next year. The plan is to implement the new prices/products in all stores by 2024. There are already some "Dollar Tree Plus" stores on the east coast. Not all items will increase in price, but many will. We will also have a larger selection of products too. It will be interesting to see how this goes.
I had already noticed some of my favorite items no longer available, and figured it was because the price had gone up at the supplier. My Dollar Tree was closing its doors atv4 pm when I arrived, as they are having problems getting somebody to work the registers. I want to stock up on shelf stable milk, Panko , dehumidifiers for shelves, clothespins, cards for different occasions, storage bins, bread. I once got a gallon of great dill pickles at Dollar Tree , and I still use the jar which is pricey now.. love you Tessie, and feel like I know you. You are my kind of people.
@@paulawinstead5660 Yep. The difference was Family Dollar and Dollar General charged more for stuff that fell apart in no time. One store in business for years is Roses. They have a dollar department.
@@paulawinstead5660 I think Famy Dollar bought Dollar Tree or Dollar Tree bought Family Dollar but however it went...the 2 stores are connected...sometimes you can find items cheaper at other stores...Dollar Tree has Yakisoba noodles for $1.00 and Aldis has the exact same noodles...Yakisoba for 79 cents I believe...I know that they were way cheaper at Aldis...that's just one item and there are many more...Blue Bonnet margarine at Dollar Tree is of course $1.00 but at Walmart and Aldis, it is 88 cents...
My husband does not believe me when I have been telling him that we need to start prepping! Even though he does the food shopping and keeps telling me that grocery prices have gone up. I am also concerned about scarcity of products. You always have the best advice Tessie! You are one of my first AND FAVORITE bloggers! You are so insightful and frugal! You are an inspiration! God bless you and your family!
Hi Owen. Hope you had a wonderful Friday. I did a hundred little things that kept me busy all day. I made Stuffed Pepper Casserole for dinner and it was delicious. Unfortunately, the spouse's stomach hurt and he went to bed without eating.😞 Hope he's better tomorrow. Have a great weekend, my friend. 🤗🧡🍂🍁
today i went to dollar tree and got important things i always buy from there. vitamins, deodorant, tooth brushes, coffee filters, and the aspirin old people take to prevent blood clots. also bleach. bottle juice.
I'm wondering if I go tomorrow if they will be sold out. On the other hand, I don't think they could start the new pricing all over the country so fast, but maybe I'm wrong.
Hubby and I wanted to go out to dinner tonight but after looking at the menu prices online we looked in our pantry and made a gourmet dinner for 10 dollars and have enough leftover for lunch tomorrow.
Not a bad thing how they have survived this long with $1 stuff is amazing! I wouldnt say its bad or would rush to judgement . just a change needed for business. This is winter time and prices do go up usually. Everyone just needs to stay calm and choose their spending wisely.
Good Morning Tessie, Sisters, Brothers, and Friends:) Wish you all a Wonderful blessed Saturday filled with Gods Joy and Happiness:) Remember to pray for one another and for all around the world:) God Bless You! Love you all:) Keep smiling be safe:)
I remember the inflation in the ‘70’s. High prices, food shortages and fuel crisis. It was rough. I was a kid. I remember eating a lot of vegetables from our garden, beans, potato soup and cornmeal gruel. Not a lot of luxuries.
You are so spot on Tessie. I have been seeing what all I can do with out for years now. I only spend money on things like electricity, gas, food and things I truly use.
YOU GO, GIRL!! Love your channel, Homestead Tessie! You're such a humble human being - a character trait not often seen. Keep up your good work: not only encouraging your viewers, but demonstrating how many DIY things can be accomplished. Your great attitude & making projects fun is admirable as well. Today's video is a perfect example of frugality & sustainability. We all appreciate you & thank you for your contribution to the prepping community.
Hi Tessie. A brand new dollar tree just opened in my small town. No more driving 40 miles one way! They won't be raising prices on regular items. It's more on new items they are bringing in. But either way, I save 80 miles 😂. God bless you
Hopefully other businesses in your small town won’t have to close. Dollar trees have a way of doing that and often the stores that close are communities only source of fresh produce , healthy food.
Tessie I appreciate your down to earth approach and common sense! You have a way to talking with people without being alarming! I understand that having family/friends who are now waking up this last year or two facing reality, but it feels good to know that now, I was truly worried about them!
When I visited my mom in South Central Virginia their Dollar Tree had items that were more than a dollar. There were $3 items and $5 items. I had to be very careful shopping because some of those higher priced items were higher priced than in the regular grocery store. Sigh.Sadly I guess all good things must come to an end. items in the Dollar Tree and in the regular grocery stores and Walmart and Target are becoming smaller and smaller also. I think I read it's called packaging deflation. Companies try to maintain the same pricing or close pricing on some items so they give you much less and they're also often sneaky about the packaging too, Like those yogurt containers where the actual bottom is like a fourth or a third of the way up on the inside of the bottom, so the container looks pretty large but you've got much less product in there than you used to get. I've noticed a lot of people haven't noticed that Sugar used to be in 5 lb bags now it's in 4 lb bags or 2 lb bags.
Sounfs like your Dollar Tree is apparently now a Dollar Tree Plus. Not ALL Dollar Tree locations are changing over to having higher priced items. Believe they will "phase in".
I’m also going to find a everything is a dollar store close to us and we’re 20 miles from a 5 below I’m getting better from my stroke I’m getting some movement back but I’m not understandable when I speak or try to I’m going to be seeing a speech pathologist appointment and I’m going to get evaluated for a speech device that will talk with and for me when I press the buttons my son Michael Paul Jacob Joyce is 29 and nonverbal autistic but he’s my miracle he was not expected to live with his failure to thrive but he’s getting a machine also so now we’re going to be able to get each other to understand what we’re trying to say he cry’s from anger and frustration with not being understood and I do too. I still take him to the dollar tree or 5 below he loves to spend his money from allowance on small things
Im so sad. Hadnt found the DT very long ago but it became my favorite place for sewing, electronic and tool supplies. Then there were all the paper products, packaged for single ppl or for old folks to carry. Things cost a dollar but actually worked and lasted a.long time. I never had to return one thing and the packages weren't opened and resealed either. Sigh.
Country Girl, I live in NB. we dont have dollar trees here instead they are Dollaramas. The majority of items havent stayed at $1 but range from $1-4 .
@@cherylodonnell6050 Yes we have dollarama as well, I only go into that store when I need canning lids, although they put the price up from $2 to $2.50, still the cheapest place I can find them. I may end up having to go for spices as our grocery stores seem to be a little short on certain ones.
I totally agree on providing your own food. I learned how to make evaporated milk from Homesteads Heart channel and it’s so simple and saves you so much money. I shop for every kind of bargain I can find that I know we will eat as well. Also, this year I have ramped up all of my herbs, spices and teas in my garden. Some herbs I didn’t have I have ordered now for my medicinal cabinet. I recently found out I am going to be a great grandmother and I never thought of doing this before but I am going to start making my granddaughter a baby medicinal kit…with the way the world is I want her to have everything she might need at her disposal at home in case we can’t leave our homes.
I only buy retail if a thrift shop doesn't have what I need. We have dozens of thrift stores in my area so most of the time it's easy for me to find what I'm looking for. I also agree that we need to learn how to make many things ourselves.Watching you make lip balm reminded me of many years ago, when I learned how to make lip balm in 9th grade. I had a science teacher who loved to teach us science by making things we could use. I really enjoyed my science class that year. Have fun creating with your hands, its so satisfying.
I am from MA,, I spoke to a manager at a Dollar Tree store, I asked her when prices will be rising & she told me she got an email this morning from headquarters and she shared with me that not ALL Dollar Trees are raising prices. They own Family Dollar and many stores are already 1/2DT , 1/2 Family Dollar, they also have dollar deals,, she said they are trying several different things, but assured me that her store will remain Dollar Tree, and will NOT be raising prices
Thank You Tessie 🤎🕯️🪔🌈🕊️🍁🐝💄I feel You're right about "the window" ...but I have no money to prepp and the owner doesn't fix the appartment electricity, plumbing ... I'm scared and Your videos help me find peace each day . Take Care .🤎
Yes, it's not only in the USA. We have it in England, with our Gas costs going crazy and the shortage of lorry drivers is pushing up the cost of goods. A great video :)
Dollar stores used to be 5 and dime stores. Inflation is nothing new. Try not to worry about it. In the moment it seems like it's huge and new but really it's been going on for ages.
Tessie - Dollar Tree is headquartered in Chesapeake, VA. In 2015, it bought the Family Dollar chain of stores for $7.2 billion. The former Family Dollar stores became Dollar Tree Plus stores. This move/name change allowed Dollar Tree to absorb the Family Dollar store merchandise and still keep the original prices on the former Family Dollar store merchandise. Since the acquisition of Family Dollar, corporate Dollar Tree has been gradually converting the original Dollar Tree stores to Dollar Tree Plus stores. I live in Central Texas and am trying to stock pile food that does not need to be cooked and other necessities for myself and 1 large dog and 4 cats (all adopted strays) because I am operating under the assumption that I will lose power this coming winter since the tangled and convoluted power system that Texas insists on using has not changed or made any significant upgrades to winterize the system to prevent the residents of Texas from losing power again similar to what happened during the February 2021 ice storm.
Sandra Erskine-- thanks for the info, had no idea Dollar Tree bought Family Dollar. Haven't shopped @ a Dollar Tree in a long time but pop in to Family Dollar every once in a while...
Our Dollar Tree in Canada was $1 25 but has now switched to $1 50. No scare tactics from you Tessie. You tell it with love, comfort and true compassion.
I have been buying up for about two years but we can only afford to buy so much. I think we are facing hard hard times. I live in Oklahoma they are predicting a bad winter too. I just feel like things are not going to be like they were. Thank you Tessie for all you do.
Yes it's to bad.was the one place left for low income people to be able to shop.it is scary how much things are changing.little nicer being able to go through it with you.thanks for the info and covering the subject.very important for everybody.bless you my friend and everybody here.together as one will get through the hard times
@Claude Parish I’m so happy you mentioned TG&Y!!! My beloved Grandmother would take me there when I was a child. I remember asking her what TG&Y stood for. She said, “Toys, games, and you know what!” Thank you for releasing this memory for me.
I liked the scripture at the end the best. It just puts everything in perspective. I make sure there's plenty of dog food because we can all survive on that but to tell you the truth I'm just getting ready for the rapture.
Oh my word! The egg carton thing to hold the lip balm tubes is genius!!! I've struggled to fill tubes without knocking them over. I will have to try that!
I have been getting ready, a little at a time, each week $10-20.00, for stocking up on canned goods etc from The Tree, since summer! Thanks for the advice and keep up with the How To's for household items!
I shop at dollar tree and heard the news the other day about stuff going over a dollar .so today i blew my budget and spent 100 dollars on lots of great stuff .i love the 1 gallon plastic containers made in the USA safe for food .storing rice.beans and lots of other food items in them i double over plastic wrap and put on gight before i put the lid on.100 dollars was well spent today on essentials .
It's so difficult when you tried to explain to close friends or family members that there really is a problem coming and you want them to be prepared and they just look at you like you're crazy. I am very worried for some of my people. Thank you for what you do here and for helping us be as prepared as we can be for whatever life brings us.
I was in a dollar tree today and was told they will be merging with dollar general the first of the year. I went to another store called super dollar tree plus. Prices were $1.00 $3.00 and $5.00. This is in North Carolina. What you are saying is absolutely true.
Wise words Tessie, things are only going one way and that's either massive inflation or not available at all. It's happening here in U.K major issues with fuel supplies at the moment people panic buying ran the pumps dry last weekend, groceries going up, shortage of delivery drivers sound familiar ??? You're so right giving people the heads up, some things we can't do much about but those we can got to do it now !!! Love and blessings to you Tessie Xx ❤️
My grandmother had beautiful skin and lived a long life. Her beauty secret was vasoline on her hands under gloves and on her face every night. Bet the FDA has checked it thoroughly so wouldn't worry about using it, Tess. Hard to see prices climb.
I was just learning about this from the news. I have been prepping and making sure I have things I need, not just for me, but for my animals too. I am worried about Winter, I think it's going to be a bad one here in Ohio too. I've noticed I spend about twice the amount for food and goods compared to just last year. Things are changing very quickly. I really like seeing how to make things. I don't wear lip balm, but I think it's a great gift for the holidays.
Your warnings are heard loud and clear, Tessie. You’re absolutely correct. I stopped (yesterday) at a rural WM on my way home from another state. Ball canning jars of all types, wide mouth quarts, and lids galore-all types at super affordable pricing! *The first thing I thought of was sending y’all a few cases.* quart wide mouth by case, gallon with lids/rings cases, all the way down to jelly and clasp tops! Oh we are for sure coming upon more lockdowns, shortage of workers (by design) and hyperinflation. (sigh) Lovely helper and it’s so neat that you spend time with her teaching her good things. P. S.: I watch 7 days a week 😉
PLEEEEEEASE Tessie, talk more about this and the substitutes we can do with these of our leftover bits & pieces. XOXO love you from West Virginia!! XOXO
A couple months ago, My Dollar Tree put in one isle (only), of higher end toys, crafts, house hold items, etc….most items costing $3 to $5. Everything else in the store still appears to be $1.00.
I live in a small little place and I have always stocked up on food items. I have to get creative in where I store it all. Actual "dollar" stores are now gone for good, sadly.
I was at the larger Dollar Tree by me today, and I didn't see the price increase yet! I'm sure I'll see it soon! (yes, I have more than one Dollar Tree, the smaller one is closer to me but it doesn't have the refrigerated section like the bigger store).
The article I read said that most items will still be $1, but customers liked the "DT Plus" stores so much, that they decided to just do that to all the stores. Makes sense to me
Tessie glad I seen your video. I had told my family I was going to start buying and food shopping differently. Instead of buying example 3 boxes of cheesey rice I will make my own and save money. Instead of buying baby powder I will use corn starch. I hope you do more videos that saves money from scratch.
Hello everyone. I shucked black walnuts today for three hours. They were nuts from our property. Normally, I don't pick them up at all. But I am starting to forage and not waste. It was hard work, but worth it, free food from the Lord. I did if because I Know in the future we will be foraging, so I thought you better get used to it now. I also went to the park and gathered a bunch of pine cones, I'm going to dip in wax for fire starters. Keep prepping everyone!!! The Lord is mounting His Horse soon!!!✝️🌍❤️
Tessie you are sooooo right on this!!! This is sound advice as far as I’m concerned. I hope people are listening. As for me I’m going to visit my closet Dollar Tree and grab a stock up on my favorite items. While they are available before another price increase.
I heard about Dollar Tree. I am saddened, but knew that it had to be coming, along with so many things. My youngest Granddaughter will be 13 in Nov. She loves lotion, face Cream, chap sticks, all the girly girl things. I told my Daughter in law just today that I had found so many pins on Pinterest for making these things. And that I want to make some up to put in a basket for her for Christmas. It will be so much better for her, and I will be learning a new skill. Love you Sweet Sister. God Bless Y'all. Hugggggggggg
Nope, my husband told me this first thing this morning!! You are right on it Tessie! I still like your delivery....not scary. I still had a giggle at 2:44 when the squirrel "photo bombed" you!!
It's a tough life, Tessie! Things are changing by the day, I declare, and not for the better. Being thrifty is a full time job and we're always adjusting, coping and learning. Keep your helpful, wonderful videos coming. (Hugs from a fan)
I gave noticed there were a lot of items at the Dollar Tree that were not worth a dollar...now it will be worse. Check prices and compare! Great video! Great idea on the lip balm!
Agree agree agree! We are all in this together and the more we share information and encourage each other the better we can weather this storm. Would you believe that I gathered acorns from my oak trees, shelled them, leeched the tannins out dried them and ground them into a delicious flour!! I never did this before nut it's free groceries. I also enjoy making my own lip balls and lotions but I've never made cherry. Can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing Tessie 😊
Couponing & sales! Its work, but it saves so much! I find myself staying out of DT. I was buying stuff I did not need there. I can get better quality & quantity shopping sales, clearances & couponing. What a HOT mess 😳 this world is in! Tfs! Blessings!
OHMYWORD! TESSIE! I've been doing the body care products for years now!!! It's so fun, and myself (and my friends) love it too! :) I use my creams and balms for the whole body...and, in the long run, it does save money!---less products to have to buy! Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
Tessie, thanks to all your videos I’ve started canning as of today. Dry canning now & my mom is coming over next weekend to teach me pressure canning. I bought the pressure cooker you use.
We're balanced on a two edged sword -- (1) Inflation -- will we be able to afford it; (2) Will it be available -- when will it be available -- will it ever be available and if it is will we be able to afford it.
My sister sells new furniture and small home gifts. She has ordered furniture over 6 MONTHS ago and hasn’t recvd orders. Yet- she’s being charged a fee each month for her furniture which is in a container in a shipping yard off the coast of SC waiting for truck drivers to come pick the containers up! I then went to a friend who owns a shipping /storage container business- he buys and sells them. He said they’re having trouble getting them to fill orders. He told me there are over 70 THOUSAND containers from China off shore in port in California waiting to be picked up and delivered throughout the US. For us ,We’d better get Christmas gifts now. I’m making/baking small gifts this year using the talents the Lord gave me!
Figures we just got a dollar tree and now it’s not , gonna be so sad. Oh well it’s what it is I always trust our lord on life so we’ll be ready n in prayers GODBLESS sweetie
I get my news by following reliable channels on Rumble, Gab, and other platforms as well as some folks on Twitter whom post proof of what is happening. I stopped watching TV over 3 years ago. The main stream media lies.
"Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without." If they could do it so can we. We have lots of entreprenaurial people and folks out of work...hmmm...what can we come up with?
That was a good video and you handled a delicate topic well. I really enjoyed seeing how you made the chapstick. Tessie, we just got a freezer (a really good deal / second hand) and now I am wondering how on earth you keep track of what's in there and not just forget about it? I know you have more than one freezer that is FULL. Do you have any tips to share in a video???
