How the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park III would look if their DNA was pure, according to the current scientific knowledge. This is not a critique of the movies, but just a mere analysis for educative purposes. Size comparison of these dinosaurs is also included at the end.

It kinda sucks that the Ceratosaurus in JP3 is literally just a slightly edited T.rex cgi model with different colors, arms and a horn last I checked. They didn’t really bother to make a proper seperate sculpt for it in the movie.

Originally the Ceratosaurus and the Spinosaurus in the film were planned to be Carnotaurus and Baryonyx. However Jack Horner insisted on replacing the Baryonyx and showing the Spinosaurus instead as an apex predator to make the T-rex look like a scavenger (yes he legit believes that Tyrannosaurus Rex was an incompetent hunter and was a scavenger). However the reasons behind the Ceratosaurus replacing the Carnotaurus was not known.
@velociraptor4you3291

@@WhyTho525 Really? I remember reading/hearing that early in "JP3's" pre-production Baryonyx was going to be the 'big bad' before Spinosaurus was proposed, but the Ceratosaurus was originally intended to be a Carnotaurus? You know, come to think of it, I remember from reading the official "JP3" Movie Storybook that in the 'dung' scene, it was a Carnotaurus instead of a Ceratosaurus.

I think the concept for Jurassic Park's Spinosaurus is forgivable, considering what was speculated among paleo circles during the 90s and early 2000s. Particularly in regards to the theory that its skull was comparable to that of the distantly-related Suchomimus. Also, I don't remember the Spinosaurus' crests being prominent enough, to be compared to the lacrimal crests of allosaurids.

According to fossilised pterosaur eggs and hatchlings of smaller species, the young would be fully developed and independent, like lizards, and would quickly learn to fly on their own. There’s little evidence to suggest that they would raise their young in nests like modern birds, whose hatchlings are completely dependent on their parents. Maybe that would be the case for larger pterosaurs such as Pteranodon and Quetzalcoatlus, but I’m not sure. Also, the Pteranodon in this film were initially conceived as toothless, even having puppets made, but they were scrapped when the toothed model came about and they didn’t have time to alter the animatronics.

Gracias! One more small detail about the Spino that JP3's hybrid differs from the original is the location of the nostrils. Spino's nostrils were closer to the eyes. Combining that with conical teeth instead of the typical serrated teeth other predators have, has led to speculation the Spino mostly ate fish! The nostrils are high up on the snout, so it can keep its snout underwater for long periods of time while hunting fish!
