I got the j150wp and it wouldn't even knock lugs loose. I knew it was supposed to be a super powerful impact but mine was so weak and slow. I said the wp must stand for worthless pile. I eventually contacted proto and told them what was going on and when they sent it back there was a note that said a the motor inlet was 90% covered by some flashing that didn't get milled out. Guess sometimes one just slips through qc. Still it was major cool of them to be so fast about it, and everything was free to me. No shipping costs or anything. Still have it and still have my 2235. Both still kick major ass.
Amazing videos, I love that you go over even the most basic information about each tool, and still don't waste a bunch of time. The scientific approach is also a real breath of fresh air in tool videos. Any chance of seeing a head to head of the IR 2235 and the Nitro Cat 1250K?
+Nate Cranmer Thanks Nate! I am glad that you like them. Also, yes I have a comparison video between the IR2235 & 1250K coming out soon.....I have a few more scenes to shoot & editing to complete, and then it will be in the que....stay tuned! :)
I have a mac awp and my Dad has the IR these are both great impact wrenches, both very powerful. I like the mac for mechanical work it is more compact. The IR with the extended anvil gets back in there on lug nuts it has deep access if you use the wrench on stuff like end loaders and other heavy equipment. 25 years ago if you would have told me that there would be 1/2'' impacts that would remove 95% of the fasteners I was using 3/4'' impacts on I would have laughed. Here we are though even Harbor Freight has a couple very strong 1/2'' drive impacts that are very affordable.
i work at a dealership and use the 2235 ti max all day, I've dropped it, banged it , tossed it and its still going strong after 6 months of use. Haven't came across a lug nut that it hasn't been able to bust loose, totally worth the investment.
+nuts 4 knives Good gun. I own a pneumatic tool repair shop and I can tell you, they are very reliable and cheap to repair *IF* they break. Just oil it everyday.
+Dralium Ya, I have been using it for like a couple months now and it's a great gun. It outperforms the popular red truck gun. Only downfall is not having a brake but you adjust to it. I'm happy with it especially for the price compared to the truck brand guns.
Nathan Gnat Ya, I like it. Like I said above the guy I work with uses mine when his "top of the line" snap-on gun won't break a bolt free and it works every time. Idk if thats just because my IR has less miles on it or what but it's a fact. At first I missed not having a brake but I'm used to it now and I don't even think about that anymore.
Nathan Gnat The guy with the Snappy gun prefers using mine because it's not only more powerful but it's also a lot lighter and a little smaller so it fits into tighter spots. Snap-on hand tools are top notch but when it comes to air tools I'll be sticking with IR when I can. Interested to see how it lasts and the rest of there pneumatic tools do in a every day professional scenario.
I just returned my earthquake and traded up to the ir2235timax,, the earthquake didnt have nearly the power that I that it was advertised to have. Although 3 times the price,, I wanted to buy my last impact I ever will buy,,
+derpie2000 In the individual reviews I will be including forward torque testing.....these comparison videos extend out to 20+ minutes if I added in forward torque with the multiple modes.
hey there i just boughht a J138WP 3/8 drive but i a one question... it has a grease hole on the front housing how do i grease it? what do i use? please help thanks
+Michael Burris They sell a mini-impact wrench grease injection needle kit....specifically for impact wrenches....but you are a long way off before needing that. Ingersoll Rand makes one & they run about $30 for the kit.
I’d like to see a review on 3/8 impacts. The new Matco and Mac offerings have damn near 1/2 power and speed. I’m a professional and rarely use a 1/2 gun. Lots of DIYers would be completely happy with the size and low cost of a quality 3/8 gun.
GREAT VIDEO!! I own both and feel the 2235 is too heavy. I also think the PROTO seems faster. I was a 2135 user for several years, picked up the PROTO when they first came out now MY IR gathers dust. I bought the 2235 thinking it would best the PROTO but, I still prefer the PROTO. I like the trigger controls on the PROTO. One thing though, the PROTO is made in Taiwan but, the 2235 is US made. Keep up the great work!!!
+Bryce Weber Sorry, I looked at the box the PROTO came in again and it clearly says "MADE IN TAIWAN" on it. Not everything PROTO offers is US Made these days.
+Fedwrench Thanks! I agree....the Proto would be hard to beat for comfort.....excellent balance, trigger control, and power! Probably one of the most overlooked & well made impacts on the market today!
