You, my friend, are such an incredible teacher! Such a great video and it wasn’t even long enough for me! I could’ve watched another hour. Thank you so much for organizing the collaboration! It was so fun! Even though my video was a complete disaster! 😂. What was I thinking…glitter - Gayle….well, I don’t use glitter, soooo…yikes! But I had fun and hope I showed folks what not to do. 🤣. I’m on to watch the other ladies and can’t wait to see what they came up with. I’m so glad you are still thinking to do the Ink & Think project for your kiddos. Yay!! Sending love and hugs and SO much appreciation. Love you, my friend! ❤️
LOL! But you made some gorgeous pieces, you made so many of us laugh and reminded us to try things outside our comfort zone. Your word for the year is perfect and that is exactly what you did in your video. I loved it and you. Bless you sweet friend 💖
Because of my daughters 5th grade teacher my daughter became and international poet at the age of 10 (she’s 16 now) thank you for being a teacher! She is highly published and gets commissioned work.
I raised a squirrel once in a condo, lol! It was a challenge! His name was Sammy the squirrel! I found him under a tree with his eyes still closed, i watched him for a day, his mom never came back. I was waking up nursing him every 3 hours until he was old enough to eat nuts and veggies. Eventually I built a wooden home for him and put him outside in a public park near by. He was the smartest creature I ever had, I had many. He recognized me when I used to go to visit him, he will climb me like a tree! Back to crafting...I love watching you! You are such an artist and you inspire me a lot! Happy New Year!
I love that story and I love that you cared for that sweet creature. Thank you for your kindness, both to me and Sammy. Happy new year and happy creating!
@@susanswayngim1854 Ohhh, that's a sweet story Susan. Regardless how tiny the animal is, it always amazes me how smart they are to their size. It is the attachment that is so hard too. I cried my eyes out when I put Sammy outside but I knew it wouldn't be fair for him to stay in captivity!
This is one of the best videos I have ever seen. You have given me so many ideas and inspired me to do them. Thank you for sharing such awesome work. I also admire your giving heart. As a former high school teacher I can relate to many things you said. I definitely feel it is important for every child to have something new to start the new school year. I’m sure you have touched many lives and made many students see their self worth.
Love your creations! So inspirational!! I love that your vertical strips on the pastry bag look like books! Your die cuts are exquisite. I need to get busy and create lots of ephemera now! I’m new to all of this so your video is VERY helpful with your definitions and how to create them. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!!! ❤🌼💐🌻❤️
You’re such a good teacher. I love how organized “together” you are. I’m glad I found you through the RachandBella collaboration. I’ve become a fan!! 😀
I could watch you for hours - and I do. I probably have more of your saved videos than anyone. You inspired me to make a “sampler” (idea) journal. I actually made 2 (1 for me and one for sale). Both almost complete. Like you, I prefer to make my writing more discrete and hidden. I also like to make many of my writing notepads removable and refillable, so I designed a special diagonal tuck spot for “booklets”. I haven’t figured out how to RU-vid yet, but have a few photos on Instagram and Facebook. Thanks for a great inspirational start to 2022!! It’s going to be “magical”, my word for this new year!
Squirrel! You got a monkey because I cannot find an emoji of squirrel, but we must remember that we squirrels are VERY creative. That's our bonus for a flitting mind.
Thank you for a great video Cori, I learned something about myself tonight. I tend to get out ALL my scraps and I get so overwhelmed that I do nothing. I need to just pull out a little. Hugs....
Your pieces are fantastic. You have made beautiful creations out of pieces that would have been thrown in the rubbish. How do you keep from being a hoarder? I can only imagine how everything you see has a purpose for something that can be fabulous.
You are my hero! I save all those itty bitty bits too. I have them sorted in ziploc bags. You’ve inspired me to do a mass making session and make a bunch of clusters and collages tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!
I came here from Gayle Agostinelli. I watched her Scrappy Saturday from yesterday and mentioned you. Liked and Subscribed. LOL Squirrel! My sister and I will be talking or crafting and then suddenly one of us will say "Squirrel" because we changed topic of direction so quickly. Sorry, but it's nice to see someone else use that word. I love your clusters. I bought myself a bunch of fancy cardboard boxes with lids from the dollar store and then I made dividers in them to divide different types of items like your wooden trays. I need the lids as my room is small and put the boxes back on my shelves in the closet so they need to stack up. I also have numerous clear bins and label them. I enjoyed watching both of you do the clusters. I will watch a few videos myself, then sit at my table, combine what I saw and add my own twist also. ☺♥
I have a couple wood boxes with compartments I've been eyeing to put little bits in so it was great to see yours all filled up. Thanks for the great processing video. Great collaboration. 😊💜
I love how you Tooke the time to talk through your thought process. I learned a lot and got a lot of my questions answered. THANK YOU!! I have always wondered why a person should save their scraps, let alone use them once you have them. This will make you sad. I saved and saved my scraps, but then got so overwhelmed with the pile because I did not know how to use them. I threw them away in a moment of cleaning out my craft area. I now wish I had not done that. I am relatively new to junk journaling and trying to learn how to do things. This has been great for me. I found Tracy and watched her video for this little project that you spearheaded. Thank you for doing this. I have subscribed to your channel in the hopes of learning more. I love the way you teach.
Thank you Jenny and you know, it is absolutely okay to toss your scraps. You can (and will!) always make more. When things become overwhelming they lose the joy they were intended to provide. Now you'll have fun making new scraps 😊
I think I need to be a scrap pirate and sneak in to steal all those yummy bits of cluster and die cuts. I need your patience to sit and do all that. Everything is beautiful ❤
Happy New Year Cori!! You are THE queen of clusters. Thank you so much for your inspiration and giving me the courage to try clusters again. I really struggle with them. Don't ever feel guilty about not completing projects that you share with us as you will get to them in your own time. I just appreciate any inspiration you share with us. Squirreling is the best, isn't it? That is just our creative minds I think, working overtime. Love your work my friend and that Ink and Think tool is fantastic. xx
Love you, Sue. I have a think and ink tool i n your parcel and as soon as my post office cooperates, your package will head across the ocean to you. I think it was Marlies who shared in her video that fighting the fear and trying new things is empowering (I need to go back and write down her quote!) and I'm absolutely certain your clusters are fabulous. Happy, healthy and creative 2022 to you!
I really enjoyed this video. It was very informative and just really fun to hear your ideas. Thank you so much for sharing. I will check out the others in this "hop" as well, thank you for hosting it.
I am so impressed by both your processes and your presentation! I have hope that I will be able to create something again, and will restart with these clusters and collages! Thank you!
Hi Cori, Happy New Year!🎈 I’ve completed the videos and enjoyed them so so much!! What a great idea….and a great group !!! You’ve got me all excited with the idea of doing a mini journal series…I love the minis and yours are always so chucka-buck full of great “stuff”… The children you touch…and the people you touch are so lucky to be blessed with someone who believes in them and will encourage and inspire them to “be you!” Because you can truly do anything… and understands the dynamics of making that happen… thank you for all you do!!!! I know you brighten my world with your videos!!!!! Your projects!!!! And the caring you share with others! I also know this is merely a snippet of what you are about!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰😘
You just make me smile. Thank you Joy, for your kindness and your willingness to spread cheer. YOU are the reason I continue to do this. People matter. People make a difference and this singular craft we do is really about community and sharing. Bless you and happy 2022!
So so Much!! You strike my inner being!!! Live you for all you do for the community and 😘😂😘😘🥰🥰more!! If I can help spread the e word let me know… I’m very limited in this area but do… so.. believe snd support you!!!!❤️💖💕🥰🥰🥰
I love this explanation. I’m feeling inspired to create collages and clusters with some of my water color pieces I’ve painted. I often fussy cut the paintings that I don’t absolutely love, but pieces look good. It’s a great way to not waste my practice pieces.
I’m new to papercrafting in general, but journal making total newbie! As an old crafter, this is a new street for me to travel. But please, let me give you a super important tip! Toss that guilt girl! That is what destroys the pleasure in crafting. These videos are a gift you give to share your talent, and the subject should be your choice. No guilt in 2022!
I love this video. (as usual) I love that you shared your pricess for setting your intention for the year. I laughed when you said your word for the year was squirrel. I don't know if you have ever seen Jamie Sams' Animal Medicine Cards but based on your videos I've watched, I'd say that squirrel is a lifetime word. Totem. Squirrel is is the gatherer, storing for future use. 😉 The other side of squirrel is the erratic side...dashing about this way and that from one thing to another as things catch their eye. I use the cards to set my intention for the year. This year I got 2, armadillo (boundaries) and dragoonfly (transformation). .. Just the combo I need to make more space for creativity in my life. Sorry for rambling on. Love your videos and your process. BTW Squirrel is one of my 7 lifetime totems. 🐿 😉
Thank you Cori for this video and for bringing such amazing ladies together for the initially you series. I have enjoyed all the videos done under the # collaboration as much as I have yours. You are appreciated for all you do for everyone.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this video. Very helpful to me. I started wanting to make ONE journal for my best friend, over a year ago. Although I've been a crafter all my life, when I first started, everything came out crappy. So I decided to make myself one 1st to practice. And I started buying supplies I saw on videos. Then I just dyed papers for 2 months. Just learning and experimenting. So I'd have papers ready. I already crochet, embroider, sew, beading, and bead embroidery for 60 years. So I spent time making embellishments in crochet, embroidery, & bead embroidery to use in making journals. Got great stash there. I'm disabled, and deal with lot of pain, so I have only been able to focus for few hours a day. Fifteen months later, I'm CLOSE to being done with my 1st journal. But I'm getting better. I like how you "mass make" one stage of an item, like clusters, and then move on to next step. That will help me. YAY! I've been making only ONE item just for that 1st journal, and it's too slow. But now I make a dozen at time. I watch several videos a day to learn what to do. That has been very helpful. I love how you mass make ONE STAGE at a time. And the "edge inking" card you use. I like to be organized so I don't get frustrated looking for supplies. Or forgetting what I have!! Being 65, my memory is pretty bad, so I don't even remember WHAT I have to use. So every few weeks, I just flip thru all my supplies to remind myself. Videos like THIS are super helpful. I'm new to your channel, but am loving it. *** QUESTION: I cannot get my thin die cuts to cut out completely. Sentiments too. They NEVER work, even if Big Shot is difficult to turn. Seems there is plenty of pressure. But they still never work. HAVE YOU HAD THAT CHALLENGE??? DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?? I really love your thin die cut pieces you glaze and add on top of your clusters. And I want to do that. But they always only cut out 90% of the way, so I end up tearing them when I remove them. I go back and forth 3 or 4 times in machine, or more, but still am NOT SUCCESSFUL. I bought good, brand name die cuts cuz I thought they would work better. So its NOT cuz I use CHEAP DIE CUTS!!! Its frustrating I cannot figure this out. Thx for this great video. Austin,TX USA
Welcome and congratulations on being close to finishing your first journal! I'll add a bit on my next video about how I die cut thin pieces and I'll talk through my thoughts. I hope that will help you be more successful!
Have a super creative year!!!! I do also squirrel, I have so many ideas.. I am The happy owner of a 220m2 craftroom. For every hobby I have, I have a seperate section (12 in total) with tables and cupboards. So at the moment I get a new idea, I walk to the table with that project and can immediately start. I do not have to get stuff out of the way. Everything is super organised and that is why I work on many projects at the same time. I know, this is a extraordinary situation and I am so gratefull I have this luxurious craftroom, but I sometimes think I should finish all the projects I am working on and start new ones, but than I get new ideas and I start new projects again. But I do not complain. ‼️ And now you gave me new ideas again. Thanks for that.
LOL! You and I speak the same language! My garage is just an extension of my craft room, full of power tools and recycled pieces waiting to be reimagined. Retirement is a ways off, but I hope I make it that far so I can create more!
I missed this video and happened on to the addendum . It’s on my to do list and I really can’t wait to try it Cori! Fabulous idea! I was in the hospital after major surgery! Tyfs! ❤️
I am not a journal maker, but I enjoyed listening to you share your passion and helping others learn. A wonderful speaking tone and voice. Have a happy creative 2022!
Hi Cori! Thank you so much for the great video and excellent instruction!! Your "makes" turned out great! I really love the storage drawers you are using to house all of your little bits for decorating your ephemera pieces! Totally cool and a great idea. Love your process for making the clusters..it is an awesome one! They really look awesome with all of the elements & textures you choose to incorporate! Really love those clusters!! Thank you for getting this great group of ladies together for your collaboration idea. It is very fun! I'm looking forward to watching each ones videos. Don't know yet which one to watch next! I must decide now! TFS Happy Crafting! Samantha
Probably the best video I have ever watched!!! I just want to thank you for this!!! I learned so much and really enjoy your personality! I love how you said "you do you" just like Tim Holtz! The first time I heard him say that I decided he was a wonderful teacher and person. So you are a wonderful teacher and person💖💖💖
Thank you Cindy. I really admire Tim and his outlook. Here's the idea... now do you and make it your own. I love that approach and try to incorporate it in all I make.
Hi Cori!! We watch many of the same channels!! I LOVE your cluster process!! I'm not very good at the organization part and I too get overwhelmed!! I love the baking tin ideas and the other ways you organized your pieces parts lol!! I too am an educator, I am a sped para k-4, we are back in the building, but I too really loved the online teaching, people don't realize how many hours you spend with that, it put a huge dent in my creativity, but this year I am back to creating and filming!! Thanks for being such an inspiration!! Always, Leslie
Thank you for the ideas and explanations. I love the process of clusters and collage. I had to smile at your bread tins for storage. I always grab one when I see them at the thrift stores.
Hello I’m new to your channel!! I love long videos and you did wonderful with sharing how your thought process is!! And taking about who you are and your life experience is what RU-vid is all about!! Now I know you better!!! 😂🤣 I wish it was longer!! Maybe next time you can decorate all of them with us!?! Love all that you add !!! All the Texter from paper to book binding material , Metal and lace or fabic
Thank you and welcome! Because I work full time I am aware of the time limitations other crafters might have, so I try to make my videos short-ish to honor their time. Clearly, that doesn't always work! I'm happy you enjoyed this process video.
I am gushing with excitement....all my favourite people in one spot!! I couldn't be happier. Love all of you and what you do. So many great ideas. I follow all of you....I am in Canada too.
Thank you for initiating and sharing your wonderful ideas in the #initiallyyou2022 Cori! I look forward to following what each talented artist has to share. Love your style and organization. So sorry for the loss of your dear friend. 🥰🇨🇦
I have just discovered you and love your channel. Thanks for your commentary. I go off on tangents and punish myself mentally. You have me back on track, life is really tough right now in my family with illness, surgery and impending surgeries for loved ones. Depression is plating me and today you were the angel who has gotten me inspired to go back into my studio and finish some things I started before Thanksgiving. So off I go to my junkadories and make so fun collage and get lost!! ❤️
I enjoy your videos very much including your sincerity, your crazy not attainable for me -attention to detail, squirrel!, your obvious kindness and you dedication to being fair and inclusive and lots more. I am a new teacher at 55 yo. Totally inspired by your art work. :-)
Bless you and thank you for turning to teaching! I left the field for many years (young kids, life, etc) and now I can't imagine doing anything else. Always remember to give yourself grace, to remember that it's a continual learning process and that kindness will always prevail. Happy, crafty 2022 to you!
Cori you are such an inspiration! I had a busy day yesterday and still have a couple to watch but I will today. Thank you for sharing and I am now off to watch your part 2. Xx
I really enjoyed this video, and don’t mind the length. I have watched all of the videos except Tracy, and have loved them all. This was a great idea, and you have given me lots of inspiration and things to think about. You are a special soul and I hope this year brings you all your heart desires. Hugs from KY.
Always enjoy your videos. Great ideas. I love being very organized…sometimes to my detriment. I recently moved and started a new job. I haven’t been in my craft room except to get organized in the 2 months I have been in my new apartment. I feel the creative bug and since work will slow down now I should have more time. Thank you for this collaboration and all of your wonderful ideas and instruction. You are a great teacher. May you have a very Happy New Year in 2022.
Fabulous video Cori, I wish I could be as organized as you! Your box of embellishments is amazing. Thanks for including me in this collaboration, so much fun! Happy New Year!🎊
So much fun and Wendy, it was my pleasure and privilege to include you. You inspire me and so many others. You are an absolute blessing and a happy, healthy, fun-filled 2022 to you!
Happy new year Cori . Great to have you back . I've watched Tracie's Video will watch Wendy's tommorw. TFS . Looks forwards to seeing more of your makes this year xxx
Thank you for organising your collaboration. I enjoyed watching all of the talented ladies who participated. You explain things really well and are very inspiring.
I just found you and I’m am greatly inspired to have a go at making these little collage pieces for my journals. I’m pretty organized myself. It’s the only way my mind works. Keeping track of so many bits and pieces can get chaotic and interferes with creativity. I’ve just thrown them away , now I wish I had kept some of them. I’m liking the way you’re using a variety of trays for sorting bits & pieces for collage making. I’m looking forward to binge watching some of your other videos. 😅
I really liked your creations. The colors and what you selected to put together was something I’d want to borrow from. Inspiration is probably a better word. Thank you so much for your time and doing this for us!
Thank you for sharing. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say, you inspire me. I keep overwhelming myself with all the steps. I just need to stop thinking of it as a whole and start with cutting out some die cuts or putting 3 PCs together. Thank you. It really has helped me.
