A look at the key differences between initial verification and periodic inspection and testing. How different environments and records make a difference and my own opinions on both. Regular reference to guidance note 3.
Recorded after requests from apprentices. Hope it helps.

Great informative video Mark. Thanks for giving your time to this as its sure to help many youngsters coming into the industry. I work primarily in the private rental sector for a number of agents and a university. Never short of work and they get all the jobs for me, deal with the clients and dont have the worries of getting paid. In return as you said I give a consistant service with a common sense engineering judgement approach to what can sometimes be challenging installations. Works both ways.

Brilliant to hear you are doing well with work. The EICRs are keeping us going at the minute. Plus we love doing them. Thanks for the nice feedback as well.

Also IET on-site guide is useful. There are actually quite a few specialized tests in guidance note 3 that have not been covered in other videos by others GSH, sparky ninja and others. For example: 1.) SELV, PELV insulation resistance 2.) testing FELV circuits 3.) my favorite - proving and testing non conducting locations (insulation resistance and impedance testing of walls and floors). These tests you could look at covering at some point when you get time. No one really shows apprentices how to do these and where and when you would need to do them.

Already my mind is thinking about how to setup a non conductive location and how to film it! Thanks

@@electrician247 I bought the plates from sonel a few weeks ago but you could make them pretty much. www.sonel.pl/en/knowledge-centre/press-articles/insulation-resistance-meters/measurements-of-floor-and-wall-resistance-using-the-sonel-prs-1-test-probes/

Just wondered what your thoughts are on a domestic landlord with all the test equipment and skills to test circuits to comply with BS 767, GN3, OSG, whilst recording all results correctly on the model forms etc. My experience of several 'pros' has lead me to the conclusion that a landlord could do a more thorough job whilst being able to sleep at night. Do the letting agents always stipulate NICEIC sparkies? not impressed so far. So many faults not recognised. Apologies, maybe you have explained this already.

So long as the inspector and testers is competent with relevant training, experience and insurances then it could potentially be acceptable. The issue would be if a mistake was made and injury or worse resulted from that. However if that person is qualified, experienced and has the relevant insurances no reason it wouldn't be an option. You don't need to be a CPS register to do EICRs. However many local authorities, letting agents and such will stipulate it as is there right tbh.

So if u do an eicr then a board change for remedials is this classed as an EICR or EIC..

That sounds like two different jobs . The initial EICR then the CU replacement with EIC
