Been running in Injinji for about 5 years. I also wear them to work. Lol. Love them! Just like Altra’s ideas about “toe splay” it seems to prevent my toes from bunching up. I don’t wear them for blisters. Just to spread my toes.
I discovered these when I deployed to Afghanistan in 2011, I was prone to blisters between the toes during long work outs in boots. Never again with these awesome socks!!
Couldn’t live on my long runs without these. I love my injinji socks...suffered for years with blisters between my second and third toe, and these have helped so much.
I've been wearing the short version for over a year now, so far the most comfortable running socks for me, and help minimize blisters. They felt thicker than most regular running socks, but still comfortable here in Jakarta during the hottest of days.
To prevent blisters use nylon (Pantyhose) under your socks. I did a 6 mile hike and got blisters and 2 weeks later I did 12 mile hike with the nylon socks and my feet were fine.
I wear their "base layer" version for long distance trail runs. I'll wear some regular trail socks over the Injinjis and I find that helps prevent blisters when trail running on technical surfaces where your feet are going in all sorts of directions. For road running, I don't get blisters so don't worry about them. I have weird feet and didn't think the Injinjis would fit, but somehow they are perfect.
These are the only socks I wear. especially in the summer. I am prone to blisters between my toes and these socks completely stop that. Blisters are the only reason I pay up for these socks, otherwise I wouldn't really need them. No other sock has been able to solve my blister issue except Injinji. Love your videos!!!!
I never wear regular socks now when I go running. Used to wear two pairs to stop rubbing but it was never really effective. Just these Injinji socks. You feel so balanced in them and 100% comfort. My podiatrist also really approves of them. I also like wearing them when doing barbell squats....the splay! They are absolutely brilliant and worth every penny.
Finally! I love the Injinjis. Just feel the toe separation helps with chafing in between toes. The lightweight version is also perfect thickness/thinness(?) for the all-year summer here in Singapore.
Not weird. Brilliant. I look at everyone else now who wears normals socks and think of them as peasants. These 100% prevent blisters and are the best for active use. I wear them under wool socks and heavy work boots at work every day. Also the toes splay better when working and trying to balance and my toes don’t feel cramped. The best!
lol I get stuck wearing these socks for months when I get the WORST big toe blisters that take FOREVER to heal but when that does happen, they are life savers.
Just bought two pairs of the "no-show lightweight model" and waiting for them to arrive by mail. I'm really looking forward to trying these on! Thanks for a great (and funny) review xD
They are very unique, but I love them. I have worn them for the last 3-4 years and honestly can't see myself using anything else. I wear the no-show and ankle length all year ( I live just outside of Toronto) and have never had a problem with cold feet or toes.
Balega looks similar turned inside out. I tried Injinji and they elude me in the same way, Mike. Unless you're someone who has constant blister issues, I don't see the real benefit. Also, I would think the mitten vs. glove argument applies here, so toe socks would not be the ideal choice for cold weather. On the other hand, would they be ideal for very hot temps? Hmm.🤔 Probably. Still a pass for me.
I use these socks for my long runs - both road and trail. They've eliminated toe blisters for me, I was susceptible to getting these on anything longer than 15km etc.
These are either love or hate socks. If they work for you, you’ll be hooked. If you don’t need them, you’ll have the same “meh” response... Personally I keep a couple of pairs for long trail days. Helps me prevent blisters between my toes caused by dust getting in my shoes. They are also up there in durability, next to Drymax and Darn Though.
Kind of a sad commentary on the state of modern footwear when something designed to be worn on a human foot, shaped like a human foot, is considered “weird.” You mentioned your left foot being something of a “club foot” due to spending so much time in running shoes... why don’t we think it’s “weird” that modern running shoes are deforming our feet?
@@kofuzi I run 40-60 mpw in Vibram Five Fingers or sandals, depending on the type of run and conditions. I will also wear Topo trail shoes on occasion, if I’m running somewhere that the rocks are especially nasty.
Don’t wear anything else for running. Zero blisters, no bleeding toes (were nails dig into other toes). Cooler feet due to the sweat wicking between the toes. My only complaint is their compression version - it’s far too long and almost goes over my knees.
Great socks! When putting on these socks, you need to roll the socks down to the toes, slide in toes and then roll the rest of the sock over the foot and ankle.
I have been trail running for over 10 years. I have never run 1 mile in normal socks. I have always worn injini toes socks. I thought it was the standard and it's weird to hear them being called weird 😂.
I use a set of Gel Toe Protectors over the toe sock, then a normal sock over all of it to protect toes from bruising on very long runs. The toe socks stop the Gel Toe Protectors slipping off.
I've run in Injinji socks for almost 10 years now. I have two toes that basically interlock and rub together so much on runs that anything >5 miles is guaranteed to result in bleeding. My local run shop recommended them, and though I was apprehensive of paying so much for a pair of socks, they're they only thing I've run in since. The only downside is I have Raynaud's disease and the Injinjis don't keep my toes as warm as a traditional sock, so they feel numb not long into runs in really cold weather. It's tolerable, but uncomfortable. This winter I'm going to try wearing a pair of Injinji liner socks with a pair of WrightSocks over them and see if it makes any difference.
Love them for every run and during the day. They keep your feet dry even when you get them wet bij rain or running through water. They don't smell and when your feet are wet your toes aren't rubbing. So get your feet wet and let me know how you think about them after.
These (when I got them a year back) made all the difference with comfort but I just feel like how I can control and spread my toes enables me to run that little bit better! Helps spread my chubby toes too! hahah!
I don't normally get blisters but I tried them out anyway since a lot of trail runners swear by them. I've only used them on long trail runs but overall my feet feel cooler and since everyone talks about durability concerns I don't use them as an every day sock.
Injini & Tabio are the best. Injini socks can get the job done nicely, but if you want to check the highest quality of toe socks =>Tabio (also more expensive).
It's all about the splay! Amazing though you've never heard of them previously; out here in southern CA they're pretty popular in the trail community. San Diego represent!
I live in Costa Rica, and use for bike and trail running... using the 21K of Moonrun in monteverde and Love, at the firt it was weird but when you get used to it you love it
I have many pairs of Injinji socks. Those Ultra Run are my least favorite. Mostly because of all the weird threads and stuff you pointed out on the inside. I recommend the “Trail” model. I also have a couple pairs of XOToes from XOSkin. I recommend those if your feet are going to be wet or dirty.
Sadly for most runners the socks only shine if you adapt to the barefoot/ minimalist ethos. I think Altra shoes are the gateway and then as your feet gain strength you get even wider and more minimal shoes and that’s where these socks become a MUST HAVE. I’m at the point where my toes are gaining a lot of strength (even the pinky toe) and wearing “traditional” socks for an extended period of time would be a huge setback and just feel straight up uncomfortable
@@kofuzi there are soooo many issues when it comes to marketing and branding in the minimalist/ barefoot market. Its been around but is still so young and it’s culture is so niche. You can’t sell the shoe if you don’t sell the ideology behind it so it’s a huge uphill battle lol The psychology of modern fashion, and how it’s influenced podiatrist/ orthopedics and sports has a chokehold on our relationship to our feet, bodies, and movement itself. There’s too much to unpack and too much homework for the average customer or runner.
Would these socks be good for people who suffer from ingrown toenails? I’m think it might since it separates each toe and wraps them individually giving all of them protection and preventing them from rubbing against each other and the shoe more.
Interesting ... still gong with the feeling that as with hand gloves, mittens feel better finger warmth than finger gloves for **extreme** cold (and maybe if it's **that** cold maybe it's time for the dreadmill indoor?)
I think these are a lot less weird than you're framing them to be. e.g. no-shows: you still want the anti-blister freedom of a toe sock, but without the warming and calf-high tan line of a crew sock in summer.
I have some other brand toe socks with grippy soles that I use for yoga classes in winter sometimes. Like you say, I can’t say I’ve totally fallen in love with them and they’re a pain in rear end to put on. It probably doesn’t help that my toes are crooked and misshapen from being stuffed into running and cycling shoes that were probably too small with the benefit of hindsight. I’m undecided if I’ll buy any for running although I’m definitely in the market for some warm socks as I get particularly cold feet in winter
Tried a couple of these, and find the design pointless. But maybe it helps if you have blister problems. Also they are super soft, which is usually nice, but my feet tend to slide around in the shoes with these on
Got my first pair a couple of weeks ago due to my wide feet and the saucony speeds being normal width. The pair is use is ultra thin helping my wide foot issue.
I have two pairs and seem to think they're more beneficial for trail runs. Too clunky for road runs. Good review! Also not convinced on the blister prevention, either. We'll see long term .
Me: Oh Injinji review? My staple socks for 5 years. I'm sure others also. This should be good. Kofuzi: Today I'm taking a look at some of the weirdest socks I've ever seen. Me: Wait whuuutt??!!
I found when I switched to some Hokas (rincon2 and Clifton Edge) that to get the right fit in the toe box (mainly around my pinky toe) these socks helped. Honestly can’t tell you why, but just made things work haha.
I know this is an older video, but have you tried these socks with the escalante or lone peak that you like? I made the switch to altras this year, and bought a pair of the light weight injinji's last week. The feel of these socks paired with a wide toe box shoe is just something that you can't get anywhere else.
Sarah Place turned me onto these I get way better toe splay in them def helps my knees move natural kinda turns any shoe into a "altra shape" for my foot/toes : ]
I LOVE These for long trail runs or long hikes...I cannot STAND them for running at higher paces or trail running on technical terrain at higher speeds. I really have no reason why they just work in specific circumstances and utterly fail in others. Maybe it's just from years of running in regular socks?
After wearing Altra shoes for a few years and now injinji socks, I hate having anything (shoes or socks) that cram my toes together. Injinji socks spoil you.
I’ve been wearing them occasionally. Only the lighter ones, other thicknesses are too much for me. Guess the are from the same group of Fivefingers shoe company. They are ok, just ok, but at the end of the day...they get me an unpleasant cold feet sensation.
Hah, such a funny video :) But you know - I should try a pair myself. I am curious if it promotes better toe mobility (and whether that is in of itself a good thing!)
Interesting, I can see that each toe has more protection to avoid rubbing, but they look a little freaky and not sure I’m passed that initial impression to really want to give them a try. 🧦😯
It surely looks little freaky, but having the protection between toes is essential for me to avoid rubbing/blisters... especially living in hot weather country..
Michael, I love these socks and it’s the only kind of socks I use when I run whether is warm or cold. I’m blister prone between my toes and used to have to wrap every single toe individually to keep blisters away, until I discovered these socks. They are worth every penny on my book. I also wear them when I hike. I must admit I wear the light kind, and the ones I have don’t have any of the fluffy inside you mentioned. You are lucky not having issues with your toes and blisters.
I think I'm definitely in the minority here. I bought a pair of Injinji socks last year. They are good but I'm not finding them very durable at all, especially for the price.
