Inmates Are Composing Music Like Beethoven

A string quartet plays the music of today’s newest emerging composers: incarcerated individuals. A small group of inmates at the Santa Rosa jail in Sonoma County, California, were chosen based on their behavior and length of service for a special program called “Music for the future.” It’s funded by the nonprofit, “Project: Music Heals Us.” The goal is to give the inmates hope. Hey you, THIS is NOT the work of prisoners. It is Mozart's String Quartet No. 19, 4th movement. Didn't realize how easy it is to spread misinformation. Inside edition, do your due diligence.

@@strqrt70 The inmates did compose their own pieces, but it wasn't shown in this video. You can find a TikTok of one of the actual inmates' composition, however, and the County of Sonoma posted a video on their channel about this program as well!

Inside Edition needs to work on their reporting skills. This is a "Dissonance" quartet composed by Mozart and not a prison original. I see another comment on this so oh well my ears didn't betray me.

Yes, the fourth movement molto allegro is a clear copy of the work of these poor prisoners. Shame on Mozart for stealing their work 239 years in the past! Someone needs to stop that man! 😡😡🤬🤬

Very good. I tried to remember the composition but I was quite sure it was Mozart. Nothing against this initiative per se, but journalists should be accurate. At least no one can lie as our journalists in Italy.

Wow. Classical music can help people heal emotionally and mentally? That is news to me. I like listening to classical music because i feel relieved when listening. It happens whenever a play them in a good headphone or speakers.

Rehabilitation should be first and foremost.. The sad part. Most American jails don’t have books, educational programs and play Jerry Springer shows 12 hours a day

As someone who has loved classical music since I was a kid, I can tell you it can be very soothing to listen to. It can take your mind off things and allow you to relax. Hope these guys have a brighter future after they get out

I love to see them having good behavior and all. But all of us outside do still have bills to pay, taxes to declare and not kill ourselves on a daily basis. I rather see them do some actual work or something more meaningful to society or for those they caused damages to. Im speaking out of ignorance, but still want to vent that idea.
