No it's not worth the money I had .y skar sdr 12s for 3yrs and I have a rp1500 and I push them boys hard every day and I tried to blow them and they still survive

@nate0 I also got 4 different subs from skar about 4 years ago as well and they were packaged pretty well.

I can go ahead and tell you DC doesn't send level 5s in a single box.

I do 170s at 52hz with them.... never even get hot or clip. Thats the difference between proper enclosure and tuning.

@@djkeys415s DC Audio is known for small boxes.they hit hard AF I had 2 DC XL Elite 15s on just 6 cubes. These 12s only need 1.5 cubes. You won't understand til you hear one in person. Too many don't believe a monster sub in a small box is a Good idea but it's honestly my favorite part of DC subs. They take half the room a normal sub yet you produce more bass.

I've had 2 level 4s for almost 2 years on an sundown sfb8k. And yes I agree there customer service is amazing..I had a cracked cone and they sent me a new cone and the glue to fix it for free and it wasn't even there fault or anything..it was something I had done and they still sent me the stuff to fix it for free....DC alll day!!!!

@@djkeys415s They are optimized for small enclosures. One of the main benefits is that you can fit significantly more cone area in the same size box vs other brands. I.E. You could run 2 of these in the box he was running one in. When you're space limited, it makes quite a big difference.

Yeah everyone is crying the box is too big, for $1000 it should be able to survive a slightly oversized box at RMS...

Much easier to test them all in open air than it is to try and make the right box for all of them.

I seriously doubt the box was too big for that sub... and a small box would help control the sub from bottoming out. (small box = resistance)

Exactly this. The sub was moving way more than it should have been. Enclosure is way too huge.

The box is small, but not the port hole, far too open for the enclosure. Might as well just be in open air. Seal it up a little more and you'll get far better sound.

It was a thermal failure, not a mechanical failure...box size would have made no difference.

Dc makes good products but sucks when it comes to customer service and looking out for the customers

I remember back when I was in high school I had a custom box made for two audiobahn 15s and I took them out and thought I could just slap some Solo-Baric squares in there. lesson learned there. the solo barics sounded horrible because the box was custom-made for the audiobahn even though they were both 15-in subwoofers they must have had different specs for the box size

WELL...yea that is true but thats wy me if i was a sub builder i would make sure my box sizing would be kinda wide range just incase every body cant afford a custome box after spending 1k plus on a 12 inch sub{wich is somthing i would do anyway not enugh cone relistate for that kina money} but for parker and his buiness i understand and would spend the money

@@djkeys415s if you can afford a 1k and up sub you can afford someone to build you a box for 400 or build one yourself with 3 sheets of MDF if cost is the issue. I built my box for 157 with everything even on the expensive side of MDF 160 for three sheets then 12 for some screws 5 for caulk and 6 for wood glue, need a saw? 40$ harbor freight then a 26$ Drill that’s exactly all my tools for building my box I did 150 at 23hz. I’m not a wood worker and I could do it. Not trying to call you out but it’s really not expensive to build.

Next level car audio just did an unboxing of the m5 and it looked like a single box, but had bracing in the corners that the wood sits on. Seemed pretty solid

And I have never had to recone any of my personal subs from accidentally blowing them. Now I've never tried to run a straight test tone for minutes at a time, but I've never had a issue with any of them on daily abuse with some comps thrown in...

@@DominionAudio yeah I agree that the straight test tone is super tough on subs! Musically the sub took power like a champ. My point was more that when compared to the Deaf Bonce it didn’t really stack up. And yeah idk what the heck happened with the packaging 😂 maybe it had been returned or something and was just thrown in a random box. Regardless the sub was I damaged and was awesome while it lasted! Would still be going if it wasn’t for that damn test tone

I'd have to agree my zvx's were packaged decently. When we pulled my lvl 6's out of the fed-ex truck the boxes literally fell apart. I spent 1200 ea forth dc's and 400 ea for the zvx's. Smh

@@garymiller652 yeah it was disappointing. I didn't realize the box was falling apart until I picked it up and the speaker fell through lucky I caught it barely. I have the 18's so they're 108 lbs each.

He tested cheaper woofers in the same box n it held up just fine and the American bass he took out the motor is small n have the same rms power

two thins with this, the enclosure was way too big and had to been clipping them to heat that coil up that fast and blow it.

The 1.5 is the minimum not maximum recommended up to 30% bigger on an enclosure is no problem

This would be fine. And by aligning the port lenght + diameter to the Thiele & Small parameters we would see less woofer blowing up.

@@rjgambino9859 Free airing it and clipping it just because its in a larger box LOL. Does that mean when a DD1 or an amp that shows zero clipping that the sub is actually clipping? no. The sub literally has loading from the enclosure, its not free airing just because its 1cft over.

Yeah exactly!!! I love the channel and all but you can't put all these subs in the exact same enclosure and expect to get fair results!!! I suspected this was the case too until I read your comment and then checked the specs to this sub myself and yeah your correct. With that said, I still do believe that this sub should have handled it better though, but it is not a completely fair test either

I put over 6k on my X15v3 for db test, 5 times In 5 minutes and it wasn't even warm. This could be an isolated case, maybe the person that build that coil was having a bad day.

One more reaaon why it migh have burned - the coil was jumping out of the gap, respectivly - it heats up when it is out of the gap

i use to run dc audio for 2 years for the 2 years im not going to lie i abused them from the moment i got them i even clipped them doing car shows. they took the abuse untill i got new ones and im sure if i reinstall them they would still work

He also blew a ZV6 or whatever sundown big sub is.. on his 8k not clipping..

The lesson that was learned is that you cant just load a woofer in any box and they will hold up. Enclosure was way too big for this woofer and thats why it blew. Running almost double the volume almost drops the rms rating by half.

I'm not going to get into a internet argument over what sub is better as you have your standards just like I have mine! You may like Ford where I like Jeep and is a prefect example of "What works for you doesn't necessarily work for me!" I'm not chasing DB Numbers and I don't want a power hungry sub that has Iron ferrite as it's motor material requiring more electromagnetic force (wattage supplied) to be equivalent to a higher force motor made of Cobalt, strontium or neodymium with less power applied. Iron ferrite, though good for temperature tolerances is rather weak in the magnetic field comparison to the others I mentioned and is why you need 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or more actual material. Let's just leave it at you liking Sundown and I don't follow trends....

I was fortunate enough to place an order right before the increase. I seen they raised it on eBay but it was still the lower price on the DC site so I grabbed a couple spools (I seen the writing on the wall). It was the best bang for buck tinned 1/O out there, the KnuKonceptz Kolossus Fleks is a decent one too, especially if you can catch it on sale (they have a few sales each year and I keep a surplus so I can wait).

My m2 DC 18 came in a wood box completely screwed together when I ordered it directly from DC. Either D4S shipped it in their own box or DC is slipping
